I recently purchased a Ruger 10/22 TD and added the Magpul X22 TD stock. The store I bought it at installed it for me.
Looking in the box, I noticed there is a little piece called a "barrel shim". What does this do? Is it for free floating the barrel? I cant find much about it on the googles
>>33481536
>a "barrel shim"
It's to properly fit the barrel to the stock.
Save the original stock--if it was wood--, you'll want to put it back on later.
>>33481573
>you'll want to put it back on later.
Did exactly this. Had a paratrooper style stock and switched it back to wood
Can you post a picture of the shim?
I'm imagining you're talking about the plastic underbarrel insert for that Magpul stock but that doesn't sound like what you're describing.
I go to Ft. Polk tomorrow as a 68w - what should I expect? (I'm only in replacement so I think my unit is the store brand version of 10th mountain)
68w stationed in Ft. Campbell here been in for about a year. From what I hear from my class stationed there and some NCO's in the MP company I am with who were there before that it sucks. The post sucks but there are some benefits like drive through DFAC's and tons of bars, also New Orleans and Baton Rouge are not bad and not too far. IMO you are in the worst duty station but good luck.

What did /k/ pick up this week? Just brought this home today. My first 1911.
the punisher? really?

ATI M1911 Military 5" Grips are custom ones I ordered. And yes >>33481258 The Punisher. No reason a gun can't have a little personality.
Apologies for the stock image, but what's the feasibility of a naval invasion over the arctic. I've never heard of such a thing, so I'm wondering what the limiting factors are.
The Polar ice caps, mostly.
That's a pretty big limiting factor, honestly.
>>33481208
Ice is the limiting factor. Turns out you can't sail through it too easy. Who would have guessed.
>>33481208
questions;
>how do you quantify taking territory that is water?
>what are you gonna do once you get it?
i mean technically its international territory, so any 'military' incursion is going to get the eye of the UN. and you are gonna look like the dick to everyone else.
but to answer your question, it wouldnt be difficult with subs and some arctic equipment.
lets say your buying a gun in a private sale that is totally legal in my state to do. how do you know that the gun your bying isnt stolen an belongs to the seller. what happen or what do you do if the gun you bought turns out to be stolen or didnt belogn to the seller.
>>33481132
>good faith
when you buy a gun and it turns up hot just say you bought it believing it was clean. The Law will leave you alone because you bought it in good faith.
>>33481132
Wait a second, aren't you the guy who got his gun stolen while taking a shit?
>did the dindu who stole it murder someone and is trying to sell it back?
>>33481418
They'll still take it and refuse to reimburse you and the kind of person selling stolen guns on Armslist won't have money for restitution.
Daily reminder to never talk to cops and never report a crime, you are ALWAYS better off leaving the scene and never saying a word to anyone.
Hey /k/, does anyone have an animation or detailed explanation etc. for how casket magazines work? I can only find basic pics that don't actually explain anything and I've been looking for a few days now. Surprised to not have found anything, even helical magazines bring up a lot more material than this.
The casket magazine contains a tiny, but still extremely spooky skeleton, who pushes the bullets into the firearm. Hence the name.
It goes without saying that casket magazines are non-user serviceable.
>>33480710
So you know how those double-sided drum magazines work? It's basically that but you replace the drums with double stacks magazines.
>>33480740
/k/ found this at local pawn shop. Thinking about putting it on lay away. Besides it being refinished I saw nothing wrong with it. Talk me out of it.
>>33480630
Refinished means you can shoot it.
>>33480630

>>33480630

Who would win in a fight: The German Volkstrum or the British home guard (Dad's Army)?
>>33480415
Isn't it amazing that even at the very end of the war, the nazies could trust the German civilians enough to arm them? Imagine if commies tried to distribute weapons after such hardships.
>>33480415
By the time it gets down to civil defense neither side has the resources to conduct an offensive, at least not without external help. Untrained civilians don't make for good soldiers and their main job would be ensuring no riots happened when rations are distributed.
>>33480458
That's literally what Stalin did, but he also gave them uniforms. Russians have never really liked Germans and WW2 was more or less a battle for their survival. Same with Mao, the biggest mass murderer in history had plenty of support because the Japanese wanted to exterminate them.

HK P30 vs FN FNX 9mm
both 9mm
I know there's a price difference, but setting that aside which one would be better for my first handgun & Concealed Carry?
trying to decide between these two
>>33480037
Why do you want to conceal carry a full size handgun? Why aren't you looking at a Glock 43, S&W Shield, Ruger LC9, Springfield XDS, or something that's actually concealable and relatively comfortable to carry all day.
Personally I prefer the HK, it's more comfortable in the hand, the FNX out-Glocks the Glock for square bodied bulkiness.
>>33480037
P30 for me, better ergonomics, great reliability and durability, based paddle mag release. Consider installing/ purchasing one with light Lem - essentially a single action trigger with a lot of take up so no need for a safety. Fnx is also good, if it really fits your hand then go for it.

Been trying to use /fit/ but now It just hurts inside and outside for now
Graduated uni 8 months ago, still can't find job.
Since no job, no money for funs, the ones I have are papercraft replicas.
My depression is in check, but still kicks in from time to time. Meds took care of anxiety.
At least I finally have friends, hanging out at another person's house helps.
Maybe I can stop being a kissless virgin.
Why are fudd guns so much more aesthetically pleasing than modern guns?
