Newfag to weapons. But which weapon is Daryl/white guy holding?
A nigged up AR

And no sights.
What do you think? Is my compact now adequate for hiking in bear country?
I hope so.
The review said these will go through 4 to 6' feet of bear.
>>33522932
It's certainly better than nothing.
Not as good as 10mm Buffalo Bore hardcast or a .44mag, but definitely better than standard 9mm FMJ, or nothing at all.

How to tell a bad gun?
Like low quality, poorly taken care of, excessive use?
First time buyer and I dont want to get ripped off
>>33522913
Is it filled with holes or brown where it shouldn't be? No? You gucci.
>>33522913
>Lots of rust
>Pitting
>Dark/smooth bore
>Broken things
Look up reviews about the gun/brand, things like ~$80-100 .25, .32 caliber "saturday night specials" are shitty (Jennings, Raven, etc.)
>>33522913
First time buyers buy new.
Why does the UK always get credited with having a top 5 military when they are literally shit?
>>33522818
Because they're the mother country and we don't want them to make her feel like she's too old to play ball anymore.
Because the ability to know how to use the weapon systems is more important than the weapon systems themself.
It's for example really nice to have a big navy on paper when in fact it is operated like this:

Why are shots to the kneecap so painful?
Mysteries of the mind/body and how to exploit them. Tell /k/ your sick fantasies or horrifying stories you've heard/witnessed.
Everything in this thread is hypothetical blah blah...
If you get shot in your dreams you get shot in real life too
>>33522845
Not true because id be pretty fucked up from .50 defensive fire from b17s and b24s and i never woke up with .50cal wounds or fw190 windscreen glass in my eyes
>>33522845
The reason people fight like girls in their dreams is because the motor control center of the brain is shut off during sleep, and this somehow affects your dream state.
I've heard VX is pretty painful, but not something most people have access to. I'm more interested in torture for psychological purposes. Like skinning your enemy alive a little bit at a time and them burning them.
i have an open carry ediquette question. im going to meat my girlfriends mom and stepdad. should i cc instead of oc. i do oc everyday in a shoulder holster. shes cool with oc.

>>33522655

>>33522620
maybe cc. its not like i know these people or trust them.
I step out into the street. In front of me stands the gunman, smugly assured of the superiority of his weapon. "Put the gun down now, and I let you live" I say, my voice calm and measured. My fingers rest lightly on the hilt of my katana. The gunman just laughs. I see the muscles in his right hand, that hand that holds the gun, beginning to tense as he prepares to squeeze the trigger. Quicker than the human eye can see I draw my katana, and using the ancient arts I have spent my life studying I use my katana to tear a hole in the very fabric of space-time, of reality itself. I am perhaps one of ten men in the world who know this skill, and one of three who dare to use it. I am the first, and probably last, Westerner to learn these secret arts, whose true Japanese name I will not profane by uttering here.
There is a blinding flash from the muzzle of the gun, but I do not hear the gunshot. Before the sound waves (or bullet) can reach me I step through the makeshift portal I have opened into the extradimensional space. "Space" is not a great word, because in this "place" it is as meaningless as "time," but English lacks the necessary vocabulary to describe something so utterly other, so completely different. The hole closes. I sense that I am not alone. There are beings here, in this "place," which are utterly alien and indescribable. The secret symbols on my katana blaze.
I cannot tell if the battle lasts for an eon or an instant. Such distinctions are meaningless here. I do not know how many there are. There could be a thousand, or there could be only one great entity. I do not know if I kill them (it) or if I merely buy myself a brief respite. Whatever the truth (if a word like truth has any meaning here) I am able to slash another wound into the very fabric of reality. I pass through, and end up in the "real" world, in three dimensional space, directly behind the gunman. A single slice with my katana passes through his skull as easily as it passes through air.

I bet you screech when people touch your ears
Hey guys.
I started a thread last Saturday about my stubborn Model 10 that wouldn't takedown. I got a lot of good advice: spray it with WD-40, soak it in PB Blaster, heat the receiver extension, give it a gentle tap with a rubber mallet, etc.
I tried all of that and this motherfucker is still one solid piece.
What am I doing wrong?
... it's not a non-takedown model, is it?
>>33522459
I should add, it soaked in PB Blaster for about 9 hours. Sat in WD40 for a couple days.
I've tried tapping it on the receiver extension a couple times now, pretty firmly but not too hard, and it hasn't budged a millimeter. I used the hair drier for a good while and got it nice and hot ( I think some of the PB Blaster might have been sparking a bit).
>>33522587
It looks like this screw is butting directly against the receiver extension. I think someone told me it shouldn't be an issue in the last thread, but I'm really starting to think it's part of the problem.
Fuckin' never mind.
I'll post more later tonight if anyone cares.
Head of US military kit-testing slams F-35, says it's scarcely fit to fly
Gun: fail. Flight: fail. Software: fail. Schedule: fail. Budget: fail. Plus 270 more fails
>Now-retired Dr Michael Gilmore, until recently the Director of Test and Evaluation for the US military, has published his final evaluation of the F-35 program, and it's a treat.
>In his parting report (PDF), deliciously dated April 1, Gilmore details a host of issues remaining with the US$391 billion-and-counting project, with everything from its combat-readiness to its wing design under the microscope.

I know that operators don't necessarily have to use standard-issue equipment issued to common soldiers, but are they allowed to use whatever they want or do they have to choose from a select arsenal?
Depends on your inventory, squad role and what your CO will allow you to use.
Well that depends entirely on who they are and where they are doesn't it
>>33522017
Pretty sure the true operators can use whatever weapon they feel is most effective for the mission, as long as they can justify its use to their CO.
Anyone know if these things are being used by "lower tiered" units yet (Regular SEALs, Army SF, MARSOC, Ranger, etc.)? I've seen pictures of FBI HRT using them and maybe even some other LE agencies that can afford them, but haven't been able to find anything regarding SOCOM units other than the SMU's.
>>33521976
Yeah REDACTED, REDACTED and REDACTED has been using them for a while now.
I saw someone selling a set for 48k on ebay awhile ago, dunno if it got pulled or not.

Russian special forces only have AN / AVS10. Please send GPNVG-18.

Hey /k/. I'm an 18 year old living in the United States and I'm looking towards the future. I plan on purchasing firearms whenever I have the funds to do so. Anyone have any links to good articles on this?
inb4 "google it" - Googling it gives me articles from CNN about "how easy it is to buy a firearm", without any facts, just trying to scare people.
>>33521645
Google it again and this time learn how to try using better diction.
just look up "[Insert Your State Here] gun laws". In most states you can get rifles and shotguns at 18

"Most states." Thanks California.
