Why do so many medieval crossbows not have a proper shoulderable stock, just a rounded tapered end? Surely the increased utility outweighs the extra half a pound of wood it would take?

I'll green text for speed
>methhead neighbor does landlords (my best buddy) yard work for pocket change
>always asking me for money (not my deal) always trying to bum smokes (I don't smoke)
>shows up one night SCREAMING & POUNDING on front door (about midnight)
>through the wails keeps screaming needs to get to hospital
>I'm hammered drunk TBQH (friday night)
>make bad decision, load him in truck and drop him off at ER (10 minute drive)
>adrenaline subsiding, now furious with myself for driving and terrified of getting pulled over
>realize this was a stunt to get his fix or drugs of some type
>he shows up after two weeks of ducking me at the front door asking for smokes again
>I lose my temper on him, tell him not to show up here when my truck is outside
>tell him he almost got me arrested
>tell him I am not the guy paying him for the yard work
>finish again saying "don't come on this property when I'm here"

>a month goes by
>he corners my landlord/buddy when I'm at work
>freaks out on him
>yelling at him about me
>saying stuff like "do you know how many fights I've been in?" etc etc
>ask "does he have a problem with me? because if soo...etc"

I'm not a big guy, but he's a mangy methhead and I've been in a few scraps of my own. That said I have NO interest in brawls and I'm on blood thinners, so I can bleed out extra fast if injured badly. I'm also not a big fan of being threatened especially regarding where I live.

What should I do? I was considering having a convo with the cops, you know set up a paper trail encase he follows through on his "threats"

No castle doctrine in this state, but I do EDC.

I'm worried he might try to vandalize my stuff or rob me now too. This is probably the largest concern.

Hey /k/, not here much but I assume you could educate and help me with my problem.

I need you to recomend me a blade used for self-defense.

Since im feeling very uncomfortable right now because of personal reasons; packed with a slight sprinkle of paranoia, I would like you guys to recommend me a blade I could keep around me at all times while outside my appartment for the sole purpose of self defense.
Requirements:
> legal to buy
> affordable (i dont strugle with money so if anyone has a suggestion that is just perfect but is a bit picy i would not mind picking it up)
> easy to use (in the sense that there is no high risk of me pulling out the blade (if necessary) and cutting myself when the blade flips open(if the blade happens to be a flip knife or what not)
>conceivable
>effective (no karambit or some huge ass blade type of shit - by this i mean i know what to do with it if i ever need to, this does not exclude these wierd ass shapes of blades but becuase i am no expert in fighting hand to hand combat these other shapes of blades seem like an enigma to me-so if there is a easy to learn or a reason for recomending such a blade it is welcome!!)

BONUS:

Sorry for vocab- only thing i could have connected blades to were CSGO knife names even tough i assume that these csgo names are not accurate.

Thoughts on the .327 Federal Magnum and compatible rounds for defense? Seems to be a pretty sweet deal for smaller guns, fairly potent and holds an extra round compared to 38/357. I would assume the recoil would be more mild as well.

I know 327 mag, 32 h&r mag, 32 long, and 32 short aren't nearly as common as 38 or 357, but that gives you a decent variety to work with

Alright, /k/ommandos, explain to me why, if the Glock is so perfect, do you have to switch out the factory-installed trigger and sights to make it even remotely close to other polymer guns, in terms of shootability?
