I live in New York and according to Google its perfectly legal to own a balisong/butterfly knife as long as it's 4 inches or less. I tried ordering one online but federal law classifies them as automatic knives and it's a felony to transport them over state lines. How can I get one legally? (I only intend to use it for flipping.)

Just get a practice one that can't be sharpened.
/k/, with all these competitors coming out with pistols that have better triggers, ergonomics, sights, etc. why has nobody been able to make a gun leaner and lighter than a Block? Or at least match them?
I've had a few Glocks, some M&Ps, a VP9, PPQ, some XDs, a Steyr M9, Canik TP9SF, Ruger SR9, and FN FNS and ALL are thicker and heavier than a Glock. Trying to match specific size/capacity classes, the competitors always come in taller as well. Shit, many of these like the PPQ, Canik and Steyr are the thickness/weight of the large frame .45 and 10mm Glocks.
What the fuck is the deal? There's no way Gaston got the concept 100% size/weight efficient on the first try. Someone else should be able to at least match him by now.
Pic related, old pic I took comparing some plastic 9mms. Beretta PX4, HK VP9, P320 Compact, G19, and an XDS-9. Not really looking at the XDS here as it's a single-stack, or at the PX4's height as it's a 17rnd full-size. The angle's shit but you can see how tall and wide the P320 and HK are compared to the Glock.
tl;dr why are competitors beating Glock at everything else but can't make something as size-efficient?
>>33603367
Palm swells enhance ergonomics. Not everyone wants their gun to have flat slabs on the side.
Are you comparing the different size backstraps for the M&P?
Have you looked at the PX4 Compact Carry?
The different grip sizes for the P320?
The big thing nowadays for size-efficient concealment are single stacks anyway.
>>33603481
>Are you comparing the different size backstraps for the M&P?
Yes. The gun's still heavier (although only marginally wider) than a G19, despite having a shorter barrel/slide.
>Have you looked at the PX4 Compact Carry?
Yes. A whole lot wider and heavier than a Glock.
>The different grip sizes for the P320?
Again, heavier and thicker.
I think you misinterpreted my OP. I'm not asking for more ergonomic guns, I just want to know why every single other polymer pistol is heavier and thicker than a Glock.
If the reason is "palm swells", only the VP9 has them. That doesn't explain why the P320, M&P, Steyr, PPQ, etc. are all the size/weight they are. Plus, all the guns are thicker in the slide. Even the smallest palm swells doesn't help that.
>>33603578
Yeah fuck I misread your OP. I read lean and thought this was a thickness thread. If your entire point was weight, then Glock seems to have reached a critical point.
Even on my M&P Shield they take pains to make the slide thicker than a Glock 43 and for the frame rails to be thicker and removable from the frame rather than Glock's thin metal integrated into the frame.
I suppose since S&W/Sig/HK/Beretta's polymer pistol production volume is lower they prioritize efficient repairability of their guns while Glock has enough volume and margin that their warranty service for guns that undergo frame rail failure involves total replacement with a new gun.
Not sure if this belongs in /k/ but I'm freaking out right now and I figure you guys can probably help me out.
Is there anything in Hoppes #9 Lubricating Oil that would be dangerous for internal use? The botttle looks like pic related.

You put it in your ass, didn't you?
for humans or doggos?
>>33603265
No no no. A little of the lube did get in but I didn't use the bottle. Christ it has no way to stop it from getting in too deep. I will never be one of those freaks you see with the funny xrays at the ER.
What are the laws in USA on displaying guns in your home?
>>33602887
depends on the state
In Massachusetts they have to have a trigger lock or cable lock and be inside a locked case.
There are none.
>>33602899
anyone know where to find the list? What of Missouri?

>Take phone and try to call police

How likely is this to happen?
>>33602860
>mad at me for fucking his girl
>how likely is this to happen?
0% likely
Depends on your state homey.
Very.
The second you come out with a firearm you are escalating the situation. Damaged property doesn't = Life threatening.
Don't reveal your gun, keep it concealed if possible. If he rushes you then you can draw and claim you feared for your life and you may not get ass fucked. But you'll be financially ruined for sure due to court costs.
Or at least in Ohio that's how it is.
So a gun store near me has a good condition S&W 645 for about $250. Pic related isn't the actual gun but is pretty much exactly what it looks like, down to the Pachmayr grips.
I'm not really in the market for one of these, but I like older, weirder guns and it seemed like a pretty sweet deal. I asked the dude behind the counter why it was so cheap, and he said it wasn't broken, but trigger linkages are a known issue with these guns. I did a little research online and it seemed like most people liked their 645s, so I'm not entirely sure what he's on about.
At any rate, should I buy it? Anyone have any experience with these? The price seems right but I don't want to buy another basket case gun I have to throw parts/labor at.
>>33602849
Here's my current handgun collection. I think something American made and in .45 would actually be a pretty good addition.
if you do get it, don't call S&W, they are no longer honoring the lifetime service warranty on the number series guns, they are simply offering replacement.

I use to be a revolver guy only, but today, I went to Cabelas and purchased this big boy. How did I do, /k/? Anyone know a good site to buy some slings and a barrel for it? I also got a big spam can of ammo for it.
also, will any drum fit this gun?
Are there any practical assault rifles that can be built by the average guy? Also, homemade thread
I fucking 3d printed an Ar15, so there's that.
The shitshovel AK is a classic as well, and any moron can finish an 80% ar15. If you dont have the tools, a polymer 80%.
Anybody with a press can make a flat bit of metal into an AK.
(I dont consider building an Ar15 on a stripped reciever to be building, rather assembling.)
That's about it for rifles, but it takes fuck all and some pipes to make a small pistol calibre MG.
>>33602554
I made this gun in my basement in California
Define built. Assemble with a mix of commercial and homemade components ? yes. totally from raw metal blanks ? not really without some uncommon machinery.

How does the 6mm Creedmoor perform in comparison to the .223 Rem?
How is the recoil? And is it worth to upgrade from .223 if you do target shooting at 100-200m ?
If you're only at those ranges it won't make a difference, .223 shoots real flat there and is cheap.
>>33602471
Yeah, I thought so already. Shame there are no longer ranges around. I'd love to get into long-range target shooting

A fun round you should try is 17 hornet.
It is a tack driver abs lots of fun at 300 yrd or less.
Is it better to just stay in your room with your gun and call 911 if you think someone is breaking in or should you clear the house?
What if someone violently charges you (unarmed) while in your house and you have to shoot them? Could the court say you should have just stayed in your room and not cleared your house? I assume this is basically what castle law was made for right?
>>33602406
Yes
shoot them
depends on where
yea kinda, and the idea that maybe legally requiring people to demonstrate their lethal intent to you in a way that cant be misinterpreted by a zealous prosecutor was a bad idea.
things are a lot simpler after the fact if you just say they shouted something about killing you before charging.
>>33602406
Depends on the state. Castle law=shoot. You'll still get fucked in civil court if they live.
>if
This reminds me of what I used to do with my roommate. Whenever one of us would get home, the other would hide with a weapon (unloaded for fucks sake) and they would practice clearing the house.
Probably a stupid idea if you don't trust them not to be a dumbshit, but was pretty fun. I miss my battle buddy.
What if you tell an intruder to freeze and keep them under watch until the cops arrive
Do they get mad for you doing a citizen's arrest

Swarm warfare is the only mode of warfare that can succeed in the next 2-20 years. Almost all standard or typical forms of warfare are obsolete.
Everything has to be orientated around a swarm-based force. Human-orientated warfare is obsolete.
A large force of autonomous suicide drones and support drones will literally just shit on every other type of force. Cheap mass production, good limited-AI pieces, etc is all that matters.
Infantry is obsolete. Tanks are obsolete. Fighting Vehicles are obsolete. Most air power is obsolete. Pretty much 95% of current USA military hardware is obsolete.
Why is swarm warfare not talked about more on /k/? Why do people think Grunts can even survive on such a battlefield not to mention cost difference.
>>33602220
>badass infantry or tank or whatever
Can't do fucking shit against a simple drone that falls on their head and explodes. If the target is in cover the drone just lands or attaches and waits.
Look at this heap of junk.
What the fuck are you gonna do when 100 drones land and attach, while the other 50 kill any exposed human.
>Why is swarm warfare not talked about more on /k/?
