Really good if you're doing security work for VIPs in a cyberpunk future setting, and want extra style points. Otherwise a regular PDW will do the job just as well.

I have a friend who is a tiny 75lb 70+ year old woman whom i wish to buy a gun for. She is not senile, inactive or stupid. She is sharper mentally than almost anyone i know. She runs 3 hotels full time while managing a paralyzed adult son. She isn't senile nor is she a wimp, i am 50% certain she used to run a whore house.

However her purse gun is a 50 year old .38 police special which she likes because her dead second husband gave it to her and it works, I'm sure she knows how to use it but given her age and physical condition she can barely lift it. If she fires it she might be injured or more importantly not be able to fire a second time.

I don't want her to have a self defense gun that knocks her on her ass and hurts her, i want her to have something that she can empty the magazine into someone who pisses her off.

A .22 isn't going to cut it, i'm thinking some sort of tiny .25 semi auto maybe? Most of those guns are cheap crap that are totally unacceptable, which ones aren't crap? 32 APC would work as long as the pistol was less than 1 lb in weight and was reliable enough to be left in a purse for half a decade with no maintence.

I'm sure I'm going to get laughed out of /k/, but I figured it was worth asking.

Got my first firearm ever earlier this year, the SIG P320 in 9mm. I'd like to get something else, but the range by me only allows pistol calibers. Is the .357SIG conversion kit worth it or should I just get a second handgun altogether?

Also, is a SIG Romeo 1 worth getting? My eyes have trouble focusing on the target and the sight, so an RDS would help.

Thanks.

What do you want it for, just for plinking at the range or what?

Yeah, just plinking at the range. I got a box of JHP in case I ever need to use it to protect myself (God forbid).

Barely is right, because they barely make a difference in anything other than weight!
>>
it's actually useful if you want a heavy barrel. Thickest near the chamber where the temp is highest.

government profile is dumb because it's main design point is attaching the M203, which few civilians actually have, and it puts all the weight at the end.

So I was thinking of getting one of those new Henry single-shot rifles as an affordable way to work on my long-distance marksmanship (inb4 "Buy a $1000 rifle with an $800 scope" - maybe someday, but I want to start practicing with something relatively affordable, and maybe at some point in the future after I git gud I'll upgrade my equipment). Leaving the choice of rifle aside, it comes in a choice of different calibers. The two I'd possibly be interested in are .223/5.56 or .308 Winchester. Everything else being equal, which caliber (if either) is better for long-distance precision shooting?

>>
>>33660843
308 gets you a longer effective range but you dont need it. 5.56 will be good enough with those irons.
theres no way your shooting past 400m with the stock irons.
>>
308

You can mount a scope to this gun and I see no reason why it would be incapable of ranging far out.

It's also beautiful. I want one of the shotguns.
>>
I'm not going to stick with iron sights. I'm going to start with a midrange, couple-hundred-dollar sight (probably a Leupold) and git gud with that.

I think I just hopelessly suck at shooting.

>Ruger 10/22
>Super Aguila 60gr.

At 100 yards I'm lucky to get a 4" group. And thats at a bench, using a bench and shored up with sandbags and shit.

I've read about dudes getting 0.5" groups from any position with any sights and I just can't believe how far behind I am. I can't even see the target with just irons at 100yd, the little ball is the same size as the target how am I supposed to get a 0.5" group when I can't get 0.5" of definition?

I've been practicing, I know about breathing, and slowly pulling the trigger, and not anticipating the shot, and waiting a second after the shot before moving...

What the fuck am I doing wrong? I put the sights in the exact same place every time and the shots just go everywhere. Maybe my rifle just sucks but I doubt that.

Don't even get me started on my groups with my SKS at 100 yards. Same deal, looking at about 6-7" groups. Terrible.

This thread is for anyone that thinks plastic is disgusting on firearms. If you believe that frame should be steel or aluminum, and furniture wood; post away.

All plastic receivers are garbage, on both handguns and rifles. And plastic grips are disgusting, wood feels and looks far better. All plastic lovers should be exterminated.

So I got an old Remington 870 wingmaster from my grandpa. It's a smoothbore and chambered for 2 3/4 shells. I'm still pretty new to guns so I'm not entirely sure what kind of loads I can put through it. I took it to a range and they said it doesn't have a choke however the barrel is tighter than most so I can't put slugs in it. Is there any truth behind this? Please help.
