Given how there's been a lot of DPRK threads up due to the shit currently going down, I was wondering if we could have an ROK thread to offset that. I have a bunch of pics and some idea of their capabilities, but I encourage anyone to share firsthand/secondhand experience with working with the South Korean military. Lets get this going.
Apparently from what I'm told these M1 helmet lookalikes are locally manufactured in South Korea from some kind of hardened plastic which was meant to afford similar ballistic protection to the steel helmet while being lighter. It appears that these are issued to units that aren't stationed on the DMZ. I'm not concrete on this and if anyone knows more about them feel free to chime in.
Also, it seems that the ROKMC and the ROKA are both for the most part transitioned to digi camo, though both services seem to be using different patterns (I'm not a camofag, I don't know the specific differences).
Just starting off with ground personnel right now.
I've also noticed that a lot of the older 20-round STANAGs appear to still be in some use. Guess if you have em, you may as well use them.
Post your most embarrassing confessions in this thread. Remove your trip if you must.
I'll go first.

Well if it's any comfort, once the lower breaks you could just buy a cheap Aero lower to replace it.

All writing is welcome, even if it's only tangentially related to /k/.
Give thanks to Polybus and Archivefag for keeping /wfg/ afloat.
It's been unscientifically proven that a lack of (you)s for writers can lead depression, alcoholism, story abandonment, and an hero.
But it's so easy to make a difference in a writer's life. Just one (you) a day can make the difference between a happy writer and a writer on permanent hiatus.
Please, post now. Help make a writer's day.

Not a lot, but enough to get me interested in what happens next. As others have said, grammar and spelling are good, along with word usage, but there is something that is off. Maybe the length of sentences? Well, whatever, do please continue, AKM

Much obliged, I only had about an hour for writing up that first bit. Had to do brain storming and such. Hoping to edit it when I get home and write some more over the weekend. In between visiting family for Easter that is, lol.

It's the little things.
We just dropped a MOAB on ISIS in Afghanistan. This is the first time this weapon has ever been used. It's the largest non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal. It has a blast radius of 1 mile.

How's the weight distribution?
>put an 1897 on layaway
>full choke barrel
>serial number puts it at 1907
How haram would it be to chop the barrel and turn it into a trench gun lookalike?
Would it be feasible to get a second barrel to chop up and keep the original barrel intact?
What are your guy's opinion on the SA80. Joining up next year, curious what they're like.
This will be a well informed thread with plenty of contributors who have extensive experience of the rifle, so make sure to relay their comments on to the selection staff and anyone else you encounter as they'll be glad to hear it.

Thanks for the info.

What regiment? I'm only a Cadet but I've already signed up. OSB in a few months, joining in 3 years after Uni.
They're pretty heavy compared to other assault rifles, but you get used to it. Bullpups trade weight for a longer barrel, which means more stopping power.
Generally what most people think they know is true for the A1. It was shite apparently, weird cocking handle fucked up round ejection, it jammed if you fucking looked at a sand dune and bits would fall off if they felt like it.
A2 is much better. I've used it pretty much once a week for 4 years, for up to 3 days. I've had 1 stoppage and that was because the sling caught the cocking handle.
A3 is apparently even better. Nice foregrip, fancy new sights, new fire selector and all in a nice new green that matches modern cam.
