Fascinated is a bit strong for me, I am interested in them though. Growing up there was a reenactor who would bring a whole pilgrim get up which included a matchlock rifle to the local Thanksgiving festival. Apparently matchlocks are very common in Mongolia because they're about as simple as weapons get and a normal blacksmith can fix and make replacement parts without modern tooling.
