So a Middle School in Ohio suspended a kid for 10 days because he liked a picture of an airsoft gun on instagram....

Story: http://www.fox19.com/story/35355907/middle-school-student-suspended-for-liking-photo-of-gun-on-instagram

Here is that Middle School's Twitter account:

Out of curiosity, how did the school know he did that? Does the principal follow all their students on social media?

Anyhow, this is, of course, bullshit. If there's reasonable cause to think this kid is a danger because he might shoot up his school, then a 10-day suspension isn't enough, and if there isn't, then there's no reason to suspend him at all.
>>
>>33887970
this isnt even related to school though, like if he drew a gun on a school book ok i guess, but its fucking instagram
>>
>>33887984
It's not ok if they fuck him for doodling guns, that's an extremely fucked up sentiment and part of what makes the public school system such a miserable beast in need of euthanasia.

I'm looking for a small .22 lr revolver to have fun and plink with around my property.
I may use it to shoot a squirrel or two.
I'm wondering about how small a revolver can be and still be reasonably shootable.

Also, general small guns thread.

Is that NAA mini revolver in your pic not what you're looking for? Hickok45 made them look pretty decent in his video.

So I want to get a lever action rifle and a revolver that share ammo.

I want them both to shoot .38 special
I want the rifle to be able to mount a tang sight
I want the revolver to have pre 1950s aesthetics (no heavy barrel, no weird rubber grip)
No single action army
The lever gun has to actually be able to feed a tube of .38 without jamming, I know that a lot of .357/.38 rifles have issues with feeding .38

38 ain't gonna happen. Hate to say this, but get a levergun in 45-70 and a Taurus Judge. It's a very hot load and the Judge will feel snappy, but there's no way you'll get a levergat in 38.
At least the Judge can fire .410 shotgun shells, too

Wow you must've spent literally no time looking into this yourself. An automatic firearm is going to be an NFA weapon, the common variant that many Americans use is the AR15. Go to the AR general and ask your basic bitch questions there, and please check the catalog before making threads in the future.

Would someone mind explaining the whole SBR and PIstol thing to me? Why it matters? What the whole concern is?

I am essentially nogunz (i have one gun), and don't know anything about semi-automatic rifles, and how come various companies are selling things registered as pistols when we know that they aren't pistols, and so on and so forth.

What rule is attempted to be skirted here?

Like pic related for instance.

If you asked me what that was, I'd say it is a rifle without a stock but CZ says it's a pistol.

What gives? Why is this distinction important?

>Why it matters? What the whole concern is?

Because creating title 2 firearms without paying the $200 "tax" and waiting months for a permission slip gives the ATF permission to no-knock your shit and shoot anything that moves.
>>
>>33887023
>atf n puppers
atf regs require anything with a barrel under 16 in be classed as a short barrel rifle. that requires a tax stamp. some people buy a setup that has no butt stock and classify it as a pistol; which is under atf regs. some people either want to avoid the whole tax altogether and keep the pistol, or they want to use their short barreled setup while they wait for the atf to approve their stamp.
>>
>>33887023
it's definitely not a rifle with a barrel that short. looks like 6-8". the thing about sbrs are the expensive tax stamp if i understand correctly. it's a silly murrican thing made even more silly by the exact wording of the regulation.

For some reason people forget the Brits and the Canadas won the war of 1812. Although the anglo alliance that has sustained since ww1 is the greatest the world has seen, and is probably closer than any other, people forget that the score is 1-0 for the brits.

What I find most baffling is that people ACTUALLY consider this a fucking "stalemate"

The US's goal was to invade and annex Canada. They failed, and the British\Canadian forces held them back, forcing the Americans to a diplomatic solution. The British\Canadian military goals was to hold back the American invasion. They won.

And now suddenly, it's a stalemate? lol fuck off the US LOST the war, and I'm sick of americuck historians trying to change what actually happened

Unlike today, most vintage women were hasguns and were equally comfortable baking a pie or shooting a weasel skulking around the henhouse. European here.

All I've owned in my life were AKs. I recently went to a gun shop and held an AR15 for the first time in my life. It was a S&W MP15 with rails.

I got really impressed with this rifle and now I'm thinking of buying it.

Can any US gun owner tell me the pros and cons of the AR15? What are some of the things that people don't mention when discussing this rifle?

Thanks.

pros:
everything

cons:
charging handle is eh
forward assist is dumb
buttstock cant be used to bash in doors
>>
>>33886669
By the way, are all parts standardized? Meaning I can get a charging handle from brand X and it will fit my rifle from brand Y?
>>
>>33886654
It's very good with an insanely deep aftermarket.

there are some weird features like it can't be put on safe unless it is cocked. But some aftermarket bits can fix that if you care.

Foreword assists are stupid and unnecessary, you won't ever use it.

It's very accurate mechanically.

the funky charging handle requires some practice if you aren't used to AR platform. It's also weird for lefthanded people but their are some sinister lefty tricks out there.

There is some autism about 1:8 barrels and hotter ammo I have yet to understand fully. most are are 1:7

Also AR buyers never put their bullshit in in /arg/ and make general posts.

Two interferes with leg motion and its draw would be potentially obstructed by plates/pouches.
Three is just awkward, like all of the inertial issues of drop leg, but applied to the front of the leg. Dropleg is already shit, but with a single anchor-point on the front thigh it would flop around like a motherfucker when running.

Last week I met a jew who had the opportunity to test some new gen isreali weapons, and I wonder if anyone would background/validify any of this

he talked about a weapon that is fired from a few meters from a building, and he says it implodes the building.
things get sucked in, then the building blows outwards

he also said you couldn't see the projectile, or it was very small and moving very fast

he claims a single round costs almost a million dollars

I asked him how one uses a weapon that causes a building to explode at only a few feet, and he said
A. it wasn't a violent explosion
B. it was retarded, hence his grunt ass being used to test it

the guy wasn't a scientist, so his description is far from complete
my initial suspicion was that it was a thermobaric weapon using the MX25 platform, but he says this was not the case as he knows the MX25

the isrealis are well ahead of the pack when it comes to infantry level balistic explosives, half the world still hasn't caught up to their doctrine incorporating rifle grenades in breaching and rapid building modification in dense urban environments

>pic unrelated, kiosk computer in but fuck nowhere
I would just write it off as a jew being full of shit, but he had a lot to say about other matters and he knew an awful lot about a awful lot of things and I am in no doubt as to his credibility

Alright so a few things I notice when looking at a lot of ww2 fighter planes, especially ones that mix cannon and machine gun armaments. It seems very common for the cannons like 20mm to be put in the wings and the machine guns to be put in the nose.

This really confuses me for a variety of reasons.

I completely understand why you a mix of armaments can be useful (you burn through cannon ammo quickly. Machine guns tend to be better in a ground support role than cannon, etc...). What I don't understand at all is why it seemed so common to put the cannons in the wings and machine guns in the nose, that seems so counter intuitive.

Cannons are heavier than machine guns, so wouldn't putting them in the wings have more negative effects on the flight characteristics? Also, if the cannons are in the nose than gun harmonization isn't as much of a problem and it decreases the problems you run into because of the need for it.

Again, I get why a mix of armaments isn't a bad idea. What I don't understand is why they would put the cannons in the wings instead of the putting the machine guns there. Is it really that there just isn't enough space in the nose for dual cannons? It seems a few soviet planes managed to make them fit.

I guess this is true mostly for the Japanese and Germans planes. Americans rarely used cannons and the British just seemed to put all their guns in the wings as a rule. Can someone explain to me some of the logic used for why the various nations put the armaments of their plane? Especially in regards to the advantages of having cannons and machine guns in differing configurations when using a mix?

To knock out wings at the same time with good shot.
>>
you raise an interesting point and I've never really thought about this before, but there's one line that I'm not with you on:
>Also, if the cannons are in the nose than gun harmonization isn't as much of a problem and it decreases the problems you run into because of the need for it.
perhaps, the reason it was preferable to not use cannons with interrupter gear because cannons already had lower ROF, and forcing them to fire only when not blocked by the prop would lower that ROF even further to the point of it being unacceptably slow.

only conjecture, I'm interested in this too, thanks OP

I'd say it's indeed because there, most of the time, just isn't enough space, it would make your aircraft more nose-heavy as well, and messing with an aircraft's center of gravity is a no-no.
