Saw this at a local pawn shop. It's a SA 85M AK and the guy was talking some good shit about it. Told him ive been looking for a WASR and he told me that this AK was "5 steps ahead of the WASR". I dont like the stock at all so that's going out (assuming I can replace it). It's priced at $800 but they have a 20% off used guns sale right now so it'll be $640 plus tax. He said this is a $1000 AK. Is this guy telling the truth and/or should I go for it?

People will shit on them all day but they are honestly good guns. It just boils down to whether or not the ergos are right for you... Go to a range and rent one if you can and see how you shoot with it. Also, if you are into aftermarket then Glock is like a fuckin barbie doll in regards to aftermarket shit.

What will be the use of this gun. HD? CCW? Competition? How are you going to carry it?

This will also tell you what model to get... All around they are good at most things but master at none imho. Also might randomly blow up if your unlucky.

>Are there any reasons why I SHOULDN'T get a Glock?

Whether or not if you want DA/SA or LEM really. There's nothing wrong with a Gen 3/4 Glock 19 and it's probably the optimal conceal carry pistol.

Just please...don't mindlessly fuck with the internals or do any stupid shit like buy a Gooch TiN barrel like in pic when you cannot group at 10 yards in the first place with the stock barrel.

I just recently moved to the states and will be getting a hand gun for home protection and for practice. Now the problem is that I do not have any useful knowledge or experience for either purchasing, handling, maintaining or keeping a gun in general.

Could you guys recommend me any THOROUGH and COMPREHENSIVE courses I can take in California for gun safety, handling and maintenance? personal anecdotes and experiences would be muh appreciated. Thanks.

Pic not necessarily related.

Check out Luckygunner's blog, it is very concise and non-bullshit gun blogger garbage made by someone who isn't a retard. Their material is geared towards the average civilian that carries.

Bookmark Pistol-Forum and Pistol-Training, Pistol-Forum is singlehandedly the best forum for discussion about defensive pistol shooting. There, you could get some good recommendations for good classes if you search around. I know there are some instructors that teach in CA but I forgot exactly who.

Just dropping a quick truth bomb here: Your selection of gun is a VERY small component in the entire system of conceal carry and self defense in general. As much shit you'll get for having cucked mags in CA, a Glock 26, P239, Shield or P30SK are all good effective options.

Also check out Tom Given's Rangemaster newsletter, Greg Ellifritz's Active Response Training website and Revolver Science for 100% non bullshit self defense resources.

So /k/, I'm hesitating between a USP 45 full size (non tactical) and a CZ75 SP01, convince me

I've owned a P-01 and a USP9c. I'd choose the USP any day. Not exactly the same as your situation but similar.
>>
>>35041047
Get a Glock.

The CZ 75 SP-01 is way too big and heavy to carry. You will only use it at the range. The USP45 is light enough to carry, but very large and will probably be too big for your hands (despite your confidence that you are "tall enough for it"), resulting in you not being able to shoot it well. Neither is very practical.

A Glock (literally any of them) will be light enough to carry, but not so light that recoil is an issue at the range. The triggers on the Gen 4's are pretty consistent, and the guns are reliable, durable, and just hard to do anything wrong to.

I'm a new ROTC Cadet and I just had a conversation with my LTC in which I was corrected several times over the course of a 5 minute conversation for saying dumb shit like "yep" instead of "yes" and forgetting "sir" a couple times.

Did I just ruin his opinion of me or will I be cut some slack given that I've only been in the program for a week and a half? He will be interviewing me for a West Point nomination soon.

Also, dumb shit you did as an FNG in the military.

Pic related, what my PSG would've done if he'd been present for that conversation.

He knows you are knew. He is there to teach and guide you, to hone you into a better cadet. Someone has to correct you on that stuff and it is better to be him, casually in conversation, than some instructor when you get carted off for field training.

/k/ might not be the best place but I can't think of anywhere else.

So I found a Browning Superposed (I think) 20 ga for 500 bucks. Serial 16xxx which puts it at late 1959 date, I don't think it's a lightning nor pigeon just a standard one. Full over modified choke.

Seems like a fantastic deal is there anything I'm missing here? On light inspection top barrel may be pitted but I need to look further.

This seems like a great deal, what does everyone else think? Know next to nothing about O/U shotguns.

That's weird since FedEx is actually a pretty antigun company. They must've cut a deal with the NRA, because they don't allow their own employees to bring guns on their property, i.e. leaving their CCWs in their cars in the parking lot (not that anyone would know).

What up /k/unts, /v/idya game dev here and I need some help. I'm working on a game that's gonna have three different 'classes' of 'standard cartridge' (brass w/ bullet.) They're basically gonna be small, medium, and large. Weapons in the same class can share ammunition, and to a certain extent magazines (with some exceptions.) The game is survival/bugout/scavenging-themed, so the idea is to have a nice compromise between "every gun has unique ammunition" (which fucking sucks in survival games) and "you just pick up an ammo box and it fills up the gun you're holding" (which feels too arcade.) I'm making this game because I feel like most survival games try to do too much 'simulation' while most other FPS's do too little. So, trying to find that sweet spot in the middle.

Here are the rough classifications for cartridges:

SMALL = handguns, submachine guns, very light rifles (like .22's), etc. Think 9mm, .45acp, etc.
MEDIUM = assault rifles like AKs and ARs, light hunting rifles, maybe a big-ass revolver. Think .223, 5.56, etc.
LARGE = hunting and battle rifles, crew-served heavy machine guns. Basically covers 7.62 to .50 BMG.

The question is: What do you I call these ammunition types? How do I present them to the player? I want terms that you don't necessarily need to be a firearms enthusiast to 'get,' but I definitely don't want something as brainless as "small, medium, large." I was thinking the small ammo could be "Pistol Cartridges," and large ammo could be "Rifle Cartridges," but then what do we call the medium ones? I was thinking 'Carbine Cartridges' but that isn't really correct on any level. We could also call the medium ones "Rifle Cartridges" and call the large ones something else, but I don't know what that would be.

Thoughts?

(Btw also going to have shotguns, so 'shotgun shells' will be a fourth ammo type, along with crossbow bolts and other 'unique' ammunition. But naming said 'standard firearm cartridges' is the difficult thing right now.)

Thanks!

>>
>>35040534
>What do you I call these ammunition types?
Pretty much what >>35040553 said. Although I might call the "rifle" ammo something slightly different to denote that it's for the larger rifles. Something like big game ammo, or "hunting rifle" rounds. IDK, I feel like someone else should think of something better than me.
Also, don't fuck up shotguns. A load of buckshot should be like a pattern of 9 "pistol" rounds in damage within 50 yards.
