I thought I could do it, turns out I couldn't. I psyched myself out. The worst part about it in retrospect was making the decision the day before we would recieve phonecalls. I said that I didn't want to get swayed and be more miserable, but it is the same and probably even worse since I've been back for two months. No jobs want me, not in school, just stay at gf house and waste.
Miss shipmates. Miss facsimile of comaraderie. Have only 2 friends, gf included and one is going to Canada. Have no male friends.
Been regretting choosing Navy. Want Army combat engineer. Since I was told re3 could reenlist tried going to recruiters for some assistance. Find that mental health issues are non waiverable. Want to keep trying but hit with constant existential crisis. Fucking hate life.

How best to trim the end off a rail?
I want to lighten the gun and I don't have iron sights and I don't use the end of the rail anyways.
My plan is to just use a miter saw to make the cut since I've used regular wood blades to cut aluminum angle before. Thoughts?
BTW I plan on cutting it just to the point where it covers the gas block.
>>33945745
Get iron sights dumbass.

When my TRS-25 lets me down, I will. It probably never will.
A few weeks ago I was talking with another anon about building a precision rifle based off the Howa 1500.
This is my first rifle and my second firearm. I finished my build today, so I wanted to share.
>$470 24" Blued Heavy Barrel .308 1:10 twist rate. Barreled Action from Brownells.
It came with a two-stage trigger, it has about 5mm of travel before the break, which is very crisp. The bolt handle nearly bumps into the little magnification rod on my scope, so I had to mount my scope as far forward as I could, the handle when open is ~3mm away from scraping the rod. I had to file two little ridges under the feed lip to get my magazines to fit, see below.
>$400 MDT LSS Chassis from the MDT website
>+$23 underbarrel picatinny rail from MDT as well
Rock solid billet aluminum chassis covered with cerakote. The rail is also aluminum, it's very well machined and also has an excellent finish, it includes a swivel cup mount, but I don't use it.
>$510 SWFA SS 3-15x42 Scope from samplelist.com
The reticle uses mil-quads with .10 mrad turrets. I got it cheap because it was during the NRA Atlanta sale, plus it was used (demo-a) off samplelist.com. Looks brand new, I don't see any defects at all, not even any scratches. It's got no zero-stop function unfortunately, but I don't know yet if I care.
I'm using butler creek covers, size 17 for the objective lens and size 14 for the eyepiece, ~$15 for both from Amazon.
>$320 Atlas Bipod BT46-LW17 PSR
It's an Atlas and it was expensive as fuck. The QD mount is actually really nice.
>$73 Surefire Procomp 7.62 from Midway
Fits nearly flush with my barrel and matches the barrel finish. Unfortunately they were difficult as FUCK to index and I fucked up the edges a bit tightening it. In the end I just used loctite blue. I'm going to replace it with a $103 Lilija Heartbraker soon.
>$66 Daniel Defense buttstock from Primary Arms
>+$30 buffer tube and castle nut from Brownells
At first I had a magpul CTR stock, but it was loose as fuck so I returned and got the DD instead. It's extremely tight-fitting and I like the ergonomics. The only downside is that I can't install a cheek riser or aftermarket recoil pad, the stock came with 2 different pad types, but they're both really hard rubber. The LSS chassis only needs a castle nut and buffer tube to attack a collapsible stock.
>$32 ATI X1 AR-15 Grip
Comfy rubber for my palm, hard polymer for my fingers. The beavertail was too high, so I had to file it down to fit with a rotary tool. It doesn't look TOO bad, but I wish it fit better. I would've prefered the X2, but there was no way in hell that was fitting onto the LSS.
>$100 10 round AICS magazines x2 from Brownells
Holy shit I regret this one. These mags fucking suck. Feed lips are too narrow, and the spring is too strong, so it scratches the fuck out of my brass and makes it really hard to work the bolt. I had to bend the lips back and sand the fuck out of them to get the magazines to feed properly. Not to mention they're not compatible with the Howa action, so I had to file 2 little ridges out from the action to get them to lock in the magwell. The polymer MDT magazines are like $35 and much much better, the problem is that they can't take A-Max bullets because there's not enough space on the follower. At least the metal AICS mags look nice.
Forgot to mention
>$67 Game Reaper Howa 1500 short action scope mount from amazon
Fits perfectly, didn't even scratch the scope when I had to take it off to adjust some things.
>$20 STI 2 Point Rifle Sling from Amazon
>+$20 Sling swivel studs
It's pretty nice, not much to say, studs are expensive as fuck for what they are though.
>$12 Angled QD Sling Swivel Adaptor
Attaches to the picatinny rail, moves my sling to a comfier position.
I had some paracord so I just made a little braid behind the picatinny rail as an accent and to pad my fingers a bit when shooting offhand.
All in all I spent ~$2,250 on the rifle, not including taxes, shipping, FFL fees, and the various tools I used to work on it, which I already had. I might've bought a factory rifle for better quality, but what's done is done.
I bought a Pelican IM3300 Storm Case ($215 Amazon) to carry the rifle and I totally fucked up cutting the foam. I was going to buy a closed cell foam replacement anyway ($42), but I fucked up the cutting so bad I don't even want to post a picture.
Biggest regrets were buying AICS mags and tinkering with the action to fit the mags. And also fucking up indexing the muzzle brake and fucking up the case foam. The grip was also a pain in the ass to modify. I'm really happy with the LSS chassis and the SWFA scope in particular.
All in all, I'm pretty happy. Going to the range tomorrow to zero it in. Going to shoot German surplus 142 gr FMJ ammo ($12/20), PPU Match 168gr BTHP ($14.5/20), and Federal Gold Match 168gr BTHP ($18/20).
47 inches with the stock fully extended
43.5 inches when collapsed.
12.2 lbs unloaded with the AICS magazine
13 lbs when loaded with 10 rounds
What do you think this thing's mission was?

>Hello Smoothskins! This is Ian McCollum on Forgotten Weapons Radio!
>Today on Forgotten Weapons we are going take a look at the most common weapon in the Wasteland, The N99 10mm Auto pistol.
>The N99 was adopted by the US military in 2051, replacing the earlier N80 pistol.
>Also adopted by the FBI, BADTFL, and most police departments.
>The N99 was to be replaced by an Energy Weapon but due to the War the US military was forced to keep manufacturing it.
>The N99 is most known for its durability and reliability, and it passed trials with flying colors.
>Manufactured by Colt Firearms, the N99 however resembles the Browning Hi Power and indeed disassembly is the same.
>The N99 is chambered in 10mm Auto, a powerful autoloader round.
>The most common ammunition types for the 10mm Auto are; Full Metal Jacket, Jacked Hollow Point, and Armor Piercing.
>The N99 has a 12 round magazine as standard, With 24 round magazines available.
>The N99 also has an impressive aftermarket, being able to accept many different modifications.
>Overall the N99 is a sturdy, dependable, powerfull and accurate handgun and has served many a wastelander well.
>Until next time, this is Ian on Forgotten Weapons.
We all know Ian moved to the Zone.
>>33945567
It doesn't look like a hi power at all and could possibly disassemble the same. It's got a slide like a desert eagle and parts it the frame look like a CZ.

I know how the Vietnam War affected us back home, but how did the rest of the world perceive it? Were there similar protests in other nations that participated (Australia, NZ, South Korea, etc.)? I imagine most of the NATO countries generally think it was pointless nowadays, but did they see it as justified back in the day? I know there were actually protests in North Vietnam about fighting South Vietnam, but those got crushed as you'd expect in a communist country.
>>33945385
Bump for interest. A friend of mine's grandpa served in Vietnam, primarily doing undercover operations for the CIA he's still not allowed (or not willing) to talk about. Apparently, there was a French guy who was former Foreign Legion or GIGN or something at a sporting event my buddy was at who kept pestering the old man because he wore a Vietnam Veteran hat. Old man told him to fuck off, in those exact words. Always found that kinda funny, especially since the old man's pretty short and my friend described the French guy as a 6'4" muscled monster with tattoos all over.
>>33945385
Aussie here. In my opinion Vietnam was considerably more justified for us than it was for the U.S. given that there was the very real threat of communism spreading to our shores. That being said, the public opinion here generally mirrored that of the U.S. for the most part.

Back in my day, this was called flaming. Now it's just trolling. Go away.
And I don't mean sports gloves; are there any good quality gloves with protection against cuts in the palms and hard knuckles designed for punching ? maybe space for putting weights ? any kind of self-defense gloves ? Not necesarily punching; stabbing is ok too. Thanks.
Some light mma/sparring gloves are okay but fencing gloves are rly gud

>Fighting gloves... not necessarily punching
If you're not punching, you're using open palmed strikes, which complicates things because
>space for putting weights
You're looking for Sap Gloves. These are mostly for punching, but there might be a sap for the palm as well as your most proximal knuckles. Putting a sap on your palm would get in the way of grasping, which is relevant because
>Protection against cuts
Not much gonna protect you from a dedicated attack to your hands that won't make your hands exceedingly heavy and interfere with grasping. The better strategy is not letting the blade touch you, which means some grappling to control the blade arm of your opponent. Or, you know, using a gun. But since you're asking for gloves, you probably can't.
Now we run the gambit of typical "I can't/won't into hasguns, how do defend myself" answers.
>can't own a gun
Pepper spray.
>can't own pepper spray
Slingshot? Not a lot of decent options at this point.
So eventually the discussion turns to why OP wants to use sap gloves for legitimate self defense, and it usually boils down to living in a shit hole (read: EU) that has effectively removed all effective, dignified weapon rights from the population.
Now you're stuck with really short range fighting, which means you should either spar regularly regardless of what weapon you carry and/or work on your sprinting. If you're going to spar regularly, you might as well learn some basic grappling and striking. At this point, your martial arts practice matters more that any additional weight you put on your hands.
We have this discussion a lot.
He probably was elated at the idea of never using a slavshit gun ever again.
Meanwhile Eugene boner is smirking in the photo because he knows that the low IQ slav peasant must have fried his brains at the sight of a real man's gun. Kinda cruel imo this is similar to going to Somalia and waving around a KFC drumstick. No wonder it looks like Eugene boner couldn't hold in his laughter the AR15 was like alien technology to the slavshits at the time.
