Mmmmmm...
A place to share books, stories, and assorted writefaggotry.
All writing is welcome, even if it's only tangentially related to /k/.
Give thanks to Polybus a
nd Archivefag for keeping /wfg/ afloat.
It's been unscientifically proven that a lack of (you)s for writers can lead depression, alcoholism, story abandonment, and an hero.
But it's so easy to make a difference in a writer's life. Just one (you) a day can make the difference between a happy writer and a writer on permanent hiatus.
Please, post now. Help make a writer's day.

I'm glad you keep these threads going, Poly and Archive.
For some of the questions in the prior thread:
>>33906000
It's a strange-real WWI/Interwar visual novel. Think how Ace Combat does their settings but with real equipment; 1920-1930s timeframe. The novel itself will progress through the main character's point of view and will be kinetic (no choices) since it is my first VN. A really quick summary is that it's the main character's experiences in war and his adventures as he struggles to get back home. Mainly focused on perseverance and char development (hopefully). Will be a lot about his interactions with the people he meets in varying circumstances.
>>33906130
Story itself lasts around roughly a year - in terms of development timelines I'm looking to actually start the fundraising in June once my demo is complete. Originally I was going to have a pretty polished demo, but with the cost of resources driving things, I may shorten it to be half the prologue/min assets versus the full 25K word first part as planned. That should make the timelines go forward! Development can take anywhere from 4 to 12 months, depending on how much money I get/how willing my artists are willing to push my content.
As an idea for progress, here are some rough estimate percentages
Writing (95% - final editing)
Art Assets (10%, BGs/CGs,Sprites)
Music (20%)
Programming (25%)
>>33915276
Some more examples of BGs - I have some fake screenshots too if you wanted an idea of what the game will look like.

New rifle, bigger bullets: Inside the Army's plan to ditch the M4 and 5.56
https://www.armytimes.com/articles/new-rifle-bigger-bullets-inside-the-armys-plan-to-ditch-the-m4-and-556
Thoughts?
>>33913056
They'll realize 5.56 is the best and nothing will really change. Maybe they'll upgrade the M4's bolt and gas system to handle M855A1 better.
>>33913056
About time. 5.56 is a meme caliber for meme armies.
>>33913068
>best
>not moving down to 4x45mm
>not replacing 7.62 RFN with 6.5 American
A damned Shame, famalam.

Anyone here have experience with carcanos? Are they any good?
Looks like it's about time for a new one.
Does anyone have experience with side-charging uppers for ARs? As far as I can tell they're not all that popular; why?
What kind of problems would I run into with a side-charging AR-10 upper?
>>33909608
Side chargers are popular among Brits because they can only own an AR-15 if the gas system is removed. The only issue I see is it being more prone to dirt but that isn't a problem unless you're a soldier.
>>33909608
Looking for a new trigger for 3-Gun. I just bought a PST gen II, so I'm looking at the cheaper side, ~$150-200. Suggestions? Preferred 4 pounds or lighter.
How autistic would it be to build one of these in 300 memeout with a side charging upper and ospre suppressor?

I'm looking to buy some military grade nightvision; specops stuff would be even better. Top dollar is $850, but I'd prefer to keep it in the $600 area. What's the best place to buy from?
>>33909593
>military grade nightvision
>top dollar is $850
Not even close.
Anyone ghille wrap their helmets?
Just did mine and probably going to redo it before posting pics.

I'll start:
>had quite recently started exploring new abandoned building
>went to explore alone one day for some reason
>make my way to the roof of the building, some 6 stories tall
>chill on the roof for a while, until it starts getting dark
>didn't need to use my flashlight on the way up because it was still somewhat bright and I had my phone
>realize when I'm about to head down that I didn't bring my flashlight
>Fuck
>phone battery is dead
>double fuck
>I now have to navigate through a pitch black abandoned building only using a lighter as my light source
Was one of my spookier moments

Post your favorite fictional weapons and armors.
Topic question: if you could equip your nation's army one fictional weapon as standard issue, what would you pick?
>>33905570
That actually doesn't look too bad. That stupid muzzle brake is stupid though.
>>33905598
Not OP, but it's not a muzzle brake.
IIRC it's actually a "Flash" hider for the lasrifle, a brake would be useless because the gun has basically no recoil.

If you're a submariner, and your submarine is on the verge of being destroyed underwater, what are your odds of getting out alive realistically? Also, how survivable do you think subs would be in a modern war between major powers?

>Pops the rear receiver pin
>Goes on to berate me about how dirty my star chamber is and tells me my B5 LMT isn't a real SOPMOD
