Are wars won by genius, heroics and skill, or by attrition, grit and bloodshed?
all of the above
>>33967225
Well in the case of the Iraq war it was done by bribing top generals of the Iraqi army
It depends on the number of people involved.
The greater the number, the less important the individual is.
How often does a man get shot (or stabbed, or mildly exploded) and continue to fight? I've heard war stories in which someone gets shot multiple times, and continues to fight for some time before succumbing to injury. But how often does this happen?
Are most non-fatal injuries something you can endure for a while until the immediate combat is over?
The infamous 1986 FBI Miami shootout comes to mind. It's amazing how many gunshots the bad guys there took and continued to fight. There was a TV movie made about it a couple years later, and though it's kinda dated and has a few minor inaccuracies (the full auto Mini-14 comes to mind), it's a surprisingly accurate depiction of what happened:

Well OP, you've certainly raised a good question and I'll be happy to answer it. Normally, when the body is injured in the heat of the moment, adrenaline is pumped throughout the body. You tend to lose yourself essentially and you kind of feel a pinch or a punch, but you don't care. Because your brain has not registered the pain or even seen the extent of an injury, you actually avoid going into shock for a few minutes before succumbing to the effects of blood-loss (should the injury be serious enough, which, it tends to be in most firefights nowadays). When an explosion happens, usually you get a bit singed and even get some shrapnel embedded in your body but most veterans don't even realize that happens until years down the road. It is a frequent occurrence and has been since war has happened.

i heard the story out of iraq about an iraqi who head part of his skull blown off and kept shooting, like aiming shooting, not spraying, while still advancing, despite the sudden impromptu brain surgery he had just recieved
What's the dumbest shit you have heard the police or media say about guns.
This is a beauty
>>33966841
More like a Toyota pickup of handguns.
>>33966841
>The Glock pistol is like a Ferrari of handguns.
Not even meming: what the fuck did he mean by this?
its the honda civic of guns, ive heard this said by tons of different people, leo and military included.
So uh, in theory, what would be the chances of a 5 year old golden retriever living from multiple shots of 9MM hollow points? How long would it have to survive before taking it to the vet? This is all uh, in theory of course. For curiousities sake. Pic unrelated
Probs gonna die.
your dog is dead. I'm sorry
Doggo is deado, pressing multiple Fs for your stupidity.
On the matter of using a handgun for self-defense, people say that shot placement is everything. But if shot placement is everything, wouldn't we all be using .22s? How weak is too weak? How strong is too strong? How much does caliber really matter?
>>33966619
.22 is rim fire so it doesn't fire as goodly and muchly as the centerfire normal bullets that people use for self defense. If you use a .22 it's more like to go click click instead of boom boom than a 9mm, unless this 9mm is a glock, in which case it just goes BOOM
Reliable ammo is a big dealio, so basically anything that isn't rimfire is betterer than a .22 for defending yourself from things
Shot placement doesn't matter if you don't get sufficient penetration. The origin of the 1911/.45ACP "stoppin powah" meme was that .32ACP and .38spc in WW1 military loadings had trouble punching through thick winter clothing and still delivering fatal wounds. .45ACP ball out of an M1911 delivered EXIT wounds. Ammo has improved a lot since then. .45ACP, .40S&W, 10mm Auto, and 9mm Luger are about as low as you want to go for reliably killing things that you hit. The 9mm has the lightest recoil and largest magazine capacity out of these chamberings, which is why police and NATO standardized on it, which in turn is why it's cheap as shit on the civilian market.

Is there any reason I shouldn't get a 20 gauge? I've used a loaner 12 gauge for a while now but it always seems a little overkill on squirrels. I was going to start scouring pawn shops in hope of finding an affordable U/U or SxS soon.
>>33966554
A 20 gauge is fine. I'd seriously consider an H&R single-shot. They're out of production, but easy to find and not very expensive at all.
>>33966554
20 gauge is cheap and will do the job just as good (i.e. kill the thing you're pointing it at assuming proper load and shot).
>>33966554
you should use a 22 or even an air rifle for squirrels. a 12 gauge will be better for range. i don't know of too many 20 gauge double barrels. you might consider a 16 gauge if you want the kick of a 12 with better range than a 20. shells are a little more expensive though.
Is there anything actually wrong with chamber indicators, or is hating safety features just a meme?
>>33966507
Looks dumb
>>33966507
I'm not a fan, but I can see where some people would want one, so I don't care. The only feature on firearms I hate in any context is a magazine disconnect
it's yet one more component on a firearm that really serves no real purpose.
Finger off trigger

Why is pepper spray considered a "bitch" defensive option? I'm a dyel skinnyfat but I carry pepper spray most of the time. I'd rather not try and defend myself with an ASP. It's kind of annoying, pic related is what I carry.
>inb4 muh gun
I carry a g43 too but not often
>>33966410
i carry one too, it's a 'bitch' defensive option because girls are 'not' capable of defending themselves without any weapon, it's just a made up story, maybe for advertisement, who knows. i don't carry a gun, but at least one folder, one bright (500lm) flashlight and a pepper spray with me, however the best off course is not to get involve in a fight, but if you must, fight it with your life,no matter what tools you have
I live in NY and and am a weak ass pussy bitch, don't carry pepper spray but I keep thinking about doing it. Tons of sketchy fucks around here.
>>33966410
Worked security for a bit with a firm that would only let us use non-lethals. The problem I found is that eventually you'll run across people that give absolutely no fucks about your non-lethal device. Doused a guy in pepper spray and he kept coming like it was fucking perfume. Saw a guy get tased and he broke the wires and was up again on the attack in less than a few seconds. There is just some people that can only be stopped by a bullet.
>be califag

Currently califag moving out in a few months feels good.

New Yorker here, I really hope the trigger-weight legislation doesn't pass. My only hope is that it'll fuck over so many people that it will make the fudds realize that they can't afford to sit on the sidelines while the rest of us suffer. They hold a lot of political influence, so if they mobilize it might make a difference. Of course, the Republicans in NY are largely spineless so I likely hope in vain.
I'm also praying for the prospect of an upcoming constitutional convention that may give Upstate home rule, unfortunately NYC and Albany are already trying to put a negative spin on the idea. I don't want to believe it but prospects look grim and things haven't even really gotten underway yet.

I didn't know autism was the new normie.
So, I like my Ruger 10/22, but using normal 10-round magazines, it's kinda hard to tell whether they're really in all the way and locked in place. I'll push them in, there'll be a click, and they'll sit flush with bottom of the stock - but even at that, sometimes I'll fire a round and the magazine will drop out of the rifle, which is REALLY embarrassing at the range. Does anybody else have this problem with their 10/22? Do I just have to really shove them in hard? Is there a way to tell if they're properly seated or not?
Inb4 "Just get some BX-25s" - I'd probably get rid of all my ten-round magazines altogether and just go with those because you have more grip area to hold on to when you're inserting them, but I live in a cuck state where that's not an option.
>>33966168
I haven't had that issue, but yeah I'd recommend just pushing harder.
>>33966168
Never had that issue...but if you want an excuse to trick out your 10/22 you can replace your trigger pack with a Kidd single stage which is all metal and comes with a metal mag release.
>>33966168
have you ever disassembled the gun? sounds like you may have fucked up the magcatch during reassembly. or your just not inserting it all the way.
So I came across this article
http://nationalinterest.org/blog/the-buzz/heres-why-us-special-forces-want-russian-machine-guns-20642
What do you guys think? Arming these groups with not only our own weapons, but now some US groups want to start producing domestic copies of Combloc weapons specifically for arming these groups? It sounds like it could be a terrible idea, but on the plus side
>Maybe we can finally get a well made American AK
>>33965904
How could this go wrong?
>>33965904
>SOCOM being making terrible decisions
Yeah this has never happened before.
You're not gonna get shit out of this OP.
>>33965915
Arming radical Islamist groups has never ever backfired on the US so of course it's a good idea
So I like guns and shiet and I'm happy with Texas gun laws, but I think it would be easier and more fun to carry around a sabre or other dueling sword in my car in case some bad guys come at me. If I get classes to train me to fence would it be
>autistic to carry my sword in my car
>would it actually defend me against non gun wielding hoodlums?
>>33965540
I carry an M1860 Cavalry Saber. Get some good classes and even a wristbreaker's fine.
>>33965562
Prove it faggot.
Cops would be onto you if they was someone with a bigass sword on their hip.
>>33965540
It would be perfectly viable, but only if you dressed like that.
