Looking to get my first handgun but I'm not sure what to get, I like the colt m1911 but they can get a little pricey, i also would need a mini safe to keep it in. Could anybody help?
>>34027105
Get a Glock 19.
>>34027296
Why that one specifically?
Check the catalog before posting a stupid thread asking us to do your research for you
Just got back from my first ever gunshow. It was a lot better than I expected. A lot of reasonably priced stuff if you knew where to look. I really had to talk myself out of buying a USP in .40 for $460 OTD. It was a great deal but I'm poor as fuck right now and need to save up for a car before I buy anymore guns, so I just got some accessories for my current guns, a tekmat, and some cheap .223
10mm
>>34027330
no one can ever tell me how these actually run.
>>34027330
I have such a strong urge to put a Weyland-Yutani logo on these things.
Would a Humvee that is up armored be a better option for a conventional war rather than an MRAP?
bump cause imma bitch
>>34026825
Ok the thing is, its just a general purpose vehicle. Like, I dont understand why people are suprised they get shat on by explosives and large caliber weaponry, that would be like saying the allies were retarded for using the Jeep in WWII because of how lightly armored it is.
Humvees are for getting there, IFV's and Armor actually participate in the battle.
>>34026825
Between the two an MRAP would be better. But both would be destroyed by APCs.
you are charged with creating a armored car like the days of old.
what production car/truck available today would you choose?
what modifications would you make? how would you armor it and what armament would you go with?
fiat 500 with spandau
>>34026609
lol
2008 toyota hilux...put sloped armor all over it...add kevlar 3 inside all the doors. have most of it armored much like OPs pic..add some small interior fans to the passenger cabin and to the engine...have those vent out to discrete areas. weapons i would rig up a twin linked 50 cal and some launchers that could fire either smoke grenades or flares
Why doesn't every single modern pistol use an LEM type trigger, with a long trigger pull and short reset in single action? It gives you the easy consistent pull of a single action, with the safety of a double action.
>>34026476
Glock owner here, some pistols have different purposes. A Glock is a bullet hose, as opposed to, say, a cz75 who's trigger is better suited for competitive shooting. Glock can be accurate too, but a cop or soldier cares more about reliability than accuracy.
>>34026494
Like I said, the LEM has all the advantages of both types of trigger. Find a flaw.
weapon safeties are literally communism
Is 22 magnum a viable weapon?
>>34026372
yes
Unideal but perfectly serviceable especially in a revolver where being rimmed isn't a detriment.
Get a PMR-30 if you want to use 22mag. One shot might not drop Jamal or Tyrone, but 10-30 probably will.
I am split between these two guns. Is it better to go with more features(FN) or better build(H&K)?
>>34026071
HK is life.

H&K is love?

there's a guy that went to my highschool who spends most of his year out in idaho for the hunting season. he's a guide for people looking to hunt bear and shit like that. his dad comes from a rich logging family, so getting started up was pretty easy for him. he flies a single engine cesna from nc out to idaho every year. been doing it for years now, and earns a pretty good living at it too.
You can, but if you should is more or less up to you to see how well it turns out financially.
Do pest destruction as sort of a sideline business with my brother in law but (for the sake of being actually useful on this cunt of a forum) on the off chance someone actually needs to know. I'll try to be complete as I can.
Basically, be a registered business and insured.
From a tax I can accumulate wear on my firearms and vehicles, write that off as a business expense so it cuts out a little less at the EOFY. Insurance, in case there's the chance of property damage, its there to help out.
Legal side of things, will vary where you are in the world. I have an alphabet of licences and I also have a small morass of gov approved safety checks, background checks and training that basically says to them 'I am not a yahoo or lunatic, I kill shit as a business'. Generally as well to keep from being bothered, we're discrete people who don't go photographing anything, keep our heads down and that will keep the greenies and peta types from molesting you.
This is a bloody business. A 'quiet' weekend with just me on foot means anywhere between 50-70 pigs or goats killed, some jobs are so big that it requires a helicopter and aside from the additional cost of that, it means anywhere between 4-600 dead animals over 2-3 days.
Are you a good shot? No? Then fuck off right now.
Are you interested in trophy's, bragging and being a great hunter? Yes? This is not the job for you.
We kill quickly, humanely, safely and without any kind of sportsmanship involved. That's it
Setup is expensive. Remember you're not going down the range with your friends and then waddling off home thinking you're hot shit. You will need reliable-
>Transport
>Firearms
>Ammunition
It doesn't have to be pretty, but it has to work EVERY time you go to work. Someone's paying you, be professional.

Hey guys, not sure how many competitive shooters are on /k/ but I'm bored so here goes...I just made A class in USPSA shooting limited minor. I'd really like to reach master/GM at some point and the common thought is that is incredibly hard to do shooting minor power factor. All my pistols, with the exception of a handful of 1911s in .45 are all 9mm. I was thinking of getting pic related in 40s&w but it hurts my soul since I have talked so much shit on 40 over the years. What's the opinion of the competitive shooters here? Is it worth the lack of handicap in scoring to shoot major?
Also general shooting sports thread
>>34025257
Should mention that this is what I've been shooting limited minor with
You're going to need to switch over to 40sw and load for it. Yeah it sucks but just do it, unless you want to run a hot 9 dillon. I'm building a 2011 in 40sw that I've been working on for fucking ever; just about to finish. I've actually kind of switched over to 40 (g20 and the 2011) from 9mm.
Mostly just noguns and horders who own 50 (shitty) guns but never shoot them.
I'm only just starting in USPSA but imho I'd just stick with 9mm. Focus on A zone hits and going faster.
I also agree that .40 is a shit round but if your convinced that the couple of points your dropping because of minor C or D zone hits is what is holding you back the I guess I'd go with it.
So police trade in 870 or mossberg 500?
18.5 inch or 20 inch?
Extra ammo on the gun? Side saddle (plastic or Velcro?) Saddle on the stock? Feed stock?
Light? What mount?
Red dot?
00, #1, or #4?
Do you keep one in the chamber? Do you keep a full tube? Safety on or off?
500
20
Velcro saddle, if at all
No
Sure, mount literally does not matter
No dot, rings or just use the barrel any closer
#4 with a slug at the end in case they end up in cover. 00 in saddle
>>34025287
Oh and
Full tube. Chambered. Safety on
>>34025196
my preferences
>police trade in 870 or mossberg 500
either one
>18.5 inch or 20 inch
18.5 for me
(apartment, tight corners, small rooms, etc)
>Extra ammo on the gun? Side saddle (plastic or Velcro?) Saddle on the stock? Feed stock?
sidesaddle handsdown, plastic or velcro, as long as it retains shells during sustained fire
>Light? What mount?
light a must-have.. the RS Regulate mounts kick butt, clamps to the magazine, pic related
might go with one of surefire's lights
>Red dot
no, personally. with a wep light on, plenty of contrast is created..can see the front sight clearly
>00, #1, or #4?
internet fight incoming
00
>you keep one in the chamber?
one in the chamber, full mag, safety on
Spooks are /k/.
And it seems like they are getting BTFO in China, bullet to the back of their head tier.
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/20/world/asia/china-cia-spies-espionage.html?_r=0
>According to three of the officials, one was shot in front of his colleagues in the courtyard of a government building — a message to others who might have been working for the C.I.A.
>Still others were put in jail. All told, the Chinese killed or imprisoned 18 to 20 of the C.I.A.’s sources in China, according to two former senior American officials, effectively unraveling a network that had taken years to build.

Underrated SF thread.
We've all seen thousands of pictures of CAG, Devgru, SEALs and so on.
But what are some underrated Special Forces Units?
My pick would be the german army's KSK.
Their selection process is fucking insane, they have cool gear and great training, you still don't hear much about them.
Here's a video showing how good of a shot the average KSK member is:

The guy in the Crye Combat shirt is KSK, the other is a Military Journalist, who's still quite good.
Also, non-multicam operator thread.

>>34025069
Also, the KSK has a female member without making the selection process easier, so that's a pretty cool fun-fact in my opinion.
Yeah KSK are based
here, have some GSG9
