What does /k/ think of the 7.62x39 cartridge? How does it stack up to other modern military cartridges in the evolving battlefield? Is the AK-47 the only reason it's popular or does it have significant merit on its own?

It's good

within 200 yards it's the best intermediate cartridge for anything.

>Is the AK-47 the only reason it's popular or does it have significant merit on its own?
The cartridge was designed for the SKS first and is still in use with some militaries' service rifles today (Finland, various commies and niggers) despite Russia inventing 5.45x39 afterwards. It's pretty darn good at its intended role of an intermediate cartridge out to 2-300 yards.

Hey /k/
What guns are these. M4s? I thought the UK was fond of bullpups.

Also, are those suppressors, or just for looks? When have you ever seen a law enforcement agency use cans?
>>
>>34152193

LAPD uses cans. I've seen park rangers at Yosemite with cans on their patrol rifles in their cars. Not really all that rare.
>>
>>34152144
Even UK special forces use M4s.

I looked up the laws for concealed carry and it looks like I am good to go. I'm having a harder time finding stuff about how I have to carry the a. It's in the passenger seat floor board wrapped in a flannel shirt, magazine in , nothing in the chamber.

I've been out in the Great Divide and other recreational areas with my gear doing /k/ shit for the last 10 days. My beard is grown and I'm a little antisocial. What are cops like on Kansas? I'm on I-70 pulled over at a rest area. My car smells a bit like weed because Colorado, but I don't have any cannabis or paraphernalia in the car.

I'm mostly paranoid cops on the Colorado border are waiting because of people with pot.

My head plays it out like this:
>Get pulled over for something made up
> Cop smells weed, probable cause
>Searches the car finding nothing but an AK and a piss jug and decides to confiscate my Polish underfolder so he can put it into "evidence"

>I've been innawoods for 10 days reassure me I won't be arrested for my gats

Safest way is to put them in the trunk/cargo area. no mags and empty. Ammo in a separate container/area.

How does the P30/HK45 compare to the USP series in terms of build quality and durability ?
88 posts and 17 images submitted.
>>
>>34151608

It's crap, buy it anyways.
>>
They're supposed to be the natural evolution of the USP line of handguns, and the durability/reliability is supposed to be the same as well. Although I do remember reading about how HK does not recommend using +p ammo in the P30, whereas they don't say anything about using +p ammo in the USP, aside from increasing wear and tear.

I like how the USP feels in my hand, so I'm going to blow my shekels on a USP Expert instead of a P30L.
>>
I've owned three P30s and the build quality and durability on all of them has been phenomenal with maybe 15k rounds between them all. Like >>34151739 said it's supposed to be the natural evolution of the USP but the USP still does some things better than the P series. The USP has a much better trigger and is renown for its reliability, not saying that the P series aren't but the USP has a huge track record of being ultra reliable over the past few decades that the P series of pistols just don't have yet

Before deciding on a P30 give the USP a shot as most people seem to prefer the USP. I like them both and I like some aspects of the USP better but I feel I'm in the minority for liking the P series a little better

In the US military, how much are you able to customize your rifles? Lets say you have an M4, can you buy a new stock from home? or a new front grip? And can you use different mags, like one of those MAGPUL ones?

I'd like to ask you guys this question:

Which tank really is better? The M48 or the T-55? For a long time, I felt very confused about this because sources seem to be a bit iffy on that? As in I don't really see a clear explanation of which tank outperforms or atleast is mildly competitive to the other.
13 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>34151283

It's going to depend heavily on the specific variant of M48 and T-55 considering the two tanks have had 60+ year service lives.
>>
I'm primarily talking about the base main production models, the T-55A and the M-48A1. Later variants I'd be welcome to learn about but I'm primarily asking about those mentioned.
>>
>>34151340

It is still going to vary a lot because when these tanks entered service there were rapid developments in anti-tank munitions. They have roughly equivalent armor. The M48 had better fire control with its coincidence rangefinder, although I'm not sure if early variants had a similar analog ballistic computer as later variants. The T-55 was a smaller target.
