French MREs live up to the reputation of the french cuisine. No joke.
Hi /k/ I was doing some research for my first gun and I found pic related in .22.
I'm french so if I want a semi auto gun I have to do some heavy paperwork and wait a year.
I was wondering if a lever action in .22 was good for a beginner.
I could buy a pump action in 12ga or even a mosin but ammunition cost way more...
If you can find a cheap used lever .22 go for it. I'd recommend bolt action though.
For a first gun, .22 is great. Better to buy something with cheap ammunition that you will shoot more than something you can't afford to shoot. Also, 22lr will feed better through a tube than it will in a box magazine anyways.
Definitely a decent pick.
Thanks
Thoughts on pic related?
I don't care.

Every British police officer should be armed with a sidearm from now on, the first police responder to the attack Saturday had only a baton with him. There'd probably be a lot less dead and injured if he had a gun.
http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/london-attack-single-police-officer-took-terrorists-armed-baton-borough-a7772251.html
But for those 10% of British cops who do have guns, can you guys please identify the gear in this picture/article
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/2994410/british-counter-terrorism-police-armed-attacks-isis/
I hate these newspaper 'explanations'
They might as well just write 'gun' 'gun' 'gun'
It's funny that not even bongistan cops get guns, as for the guns, I didn't look at the article, but the pistol in the picture is some sort of Glock, and the rifles all of them except the guy with the sniper rifle are holding are some sort of AR-15, I don't know what the Limeys call their ARs
There is no need for the 90% to be armed.
The Met, maybe. Because London is a shithole. But firearms incidents outside of major cities is practically non-existent, and dealt with by current firearms teams.
Or just thoughts about .30-30 in general? One thing I as an inexperienced shooter was curious about: how does it stack up to other popular cartridges such as .223, .308 etc? I shot a .30-30 and .308 side by side and didn't notice much of a difference (however it was my first time shooting both)
Asking about pic related because it's the only gun I own that isn't a .22 and I've heard good things about it, wanted /k/'s opinion though.
Good deer gun. I want to get a Henry All-Weather in 30-30
30-30 is a good round, but don't get something in it if your not hunting in bush. They are absolute trash past 100m.
.30-30 is ballistically inferior to .308. The performance is roughly comparable to 7.62x39, but you have an absolutely enormous case in order to get that performance, and a recoil similar to .308 for a fraction of the momentum. This is in part due to the lack of aerodynamics, and in part due to the fact that the cartridge is older than your mom's mom's mom.
It's not ideal. But it's about the peak of levergun performance, short of maybe .44 magnum or .45-70.
That being said, if you like it, get it. I have a 30-30 and I love it.

Is this a good rifle for a smaller, left handed, and somewhat (although not very) experienced shooter? If not then what do you recommend?
The youth version of this rifle (that unfortunately doesn't come lefty) is only slightly lighter/shorter and I bet my 5'6 140lbs 15 year old can handle the full sized thing. Right?

What do you recommend then anon
And for the record I played fallout once and hated it, I'm more of an assassin's creed type of guy
It's a good rifle, but don't think it's the only bolt action in .223, also if they have their stance good and have had some practice they can handle 12g at that age.
I'm thinking of joining the Adf. Preferably, I'd like to be an artilleryman. Does, or has anyone here had experience with this section of the military?
Do you like your hearing? Hearing protection actually gets in the way of doing the job good.

YOU WORK IN A DISTILLERY?
Sup /k/
I've lurked here occasionally for a while, need some advice. Father gifted me my first gun tonight, and I've always planned on being a responsible gun owner at some point. I figure now's a good time to get started.
Is there anything I should know about this revolver? Any tips or recommendations? He gifted a cleaning kit, holster, and a fabric zipper case for storage. The revolver itself came with a trigger lock and key as well.
Buy some ammo
Find a place to shoot
>>34164481
I can shoot on my property, was just wondering if there was anything specific I should know or not
>>34164478
Oh man, that is going to be my next purchase, a little fun 22lr/mag plinker. Super cheap price for the revolver too.
It's a rimfire so don't dry fire it without either snap caps or some drywall #4 anchors for 22lr.
How often do you carry when you leave the house? I have a G43 with a Blade Tech IWB holster and I barely carry, most of the time I am at work (where I can't carry) I don't have a car to put that in, and the rest of the time I am out of the house i'm drinking or at the bar so I can't carry there.
I carry high grade pepper spray like 100% of the time though.
Also do you ever carry an extra mag? My gun only holds 6+1 and I don'y carry a spare
>>34164379
I don't leave with out being armed. I work at times in bad areas I carry an "extendo" and a spare or just one spare normally. My only carry is a g20.
>>34164379
If your work screens you, get a different job.
I carry an extra magazine in my car.
>>34164379
I carry whenever I leave the house, except on work days.
Wanting to learn to shoot to let off steam (in the sense of enjoying a hobby, not related to anger), improve my marksmanship, and to exercise a pretty unique American right.
Total noob. If possible I want a semi-auto rifle under 600. Any suggestions? What should I look at?
Shooting a handful of times with friends and family, I have really enjoyed the unfuckability of AKs (and am admittedly charmed with the engineering). But I also know I'm probably a meme right now.
Also anything I should know about buying in Texas (relatively new to the state as well)?
AR15
R

But seriously though they're dirt cheap right now.
Retailers stockpiled a shitton of them in preparation for a Clinton presidency and now they're just dumping them all.
Alternatively get a semiauto .22 rifle, but to be honest you can get an AR15 for almost as much. Ammo will be more expensive though.
Ruger Mark 4 is a great handgun for plinking at the range, but it's a bit pricey for a .22.
CZ75s are good all metal handguns, and you can get them in a variety of calibers.
If you dig the 1911 aesthetic, Rock Island Armory sells good value 1911s.

AK AR is cool. But in a long run, FAL is way to go.
Best way to practice your marksmanship and having fun is actually shooting a handgun. Get a glock then.
Do real combat veterans cringe at Hollywood's depiction of war, or just the media's depiction of war in general like in video games n such? What do the veteren on here think?
Do you like the glory of it all and the fact that everyone thinks you're a badass?
Do you think civvies over glorify it?
Do you think it's disrespectful and doesn't take your experiences seriously?
Discuss.

I only cringe when random civilians think Hollywood nonsense is actually accurate. I remember when 'The Hurt Locker' was being praised by film critics everywhere for being so gritty and realistic (because film critics can spot realism in war movies, amirite?) and at first I would try to give accurate answers when people would ask about it to me, but eventually I just gave up. Too exhausting to correct people, especially when they start to argue about it.
I enjoy flicks that actually go for some kind of accuracy and appreciate the effort, but if a movie or vidya is having a good fun time I roll with it. I'm not going to sperg out at inaccuracies if somebody puts 'The Rock' on TV. I remember playing Call of Duty:MW3 when deployed and everybody loved it in all it's retardation.
>Do you think civvies over glorify it?
I dunno. I know they have such a wrong idea of the military driven by memes and media that correcting them most of the time is more trouble than its worth.
>Do you think it's disrespectful and doesn't take your experiences seriously?
Media can do what it wants, it tends to get the details of everything wrong in every job in service to moving the story along.
