They don't, writers do it because writers before them have done it so they do it too. I doubt nips like all like/enjoy every cliche or portrayal but it's like the rules and building blocks of the story, you just accept it and enjoy it being made fun of from time to time.

Characters fucking doesn't have to be porn. That is, they don't have to show them fucking. Harems are a little different if the harem is about MC having to choose a girl, instead of the girls all being okay with sharing him, but harems shouldn't focus entirely on the harem situation anyway. That's what makes shitty harem series shitty.

Probably because it is the easiest way to make lewd events keep happening one after another. If the MC actually accepts the advances and fucks the girl then what? Anything less than sex would pale in comparison and they can't even show the sex scenes because it is not hentai. It also has a lot of predecessors so it isn't hard to find examples for scenarios to rip off of.

It is what sells. You want your LN to sell, right? Copy what currently works instead of risking failure trying something new.
