Witch of Resurrection edition.
Nice. Still missing a lot of stuff though.
Excuse me if I am wrong, but wasn't the "Real" Erika some broad who fell off a ship and probably drowned, while the one in the story is a theoretical one? I believe that it was hinted that her hair color isn't real, so she might just be someone trying to look like Bernkastel.
Yes, the real Erika is a girl who fell off of a boat and died on the same weekend as the family conference. Witch Hunters had absurd theories about her reaching the island and being involved in the incident somehow.
Pic related is the best Bern cosplay (asian or otherwise)
Is this the one that made Suigintou? I don't find any Suigintou on her DA.
I am still curious, for now, I believe the best to be this girl mercurygin, right size and very good facial proportions, there is also something on her expression that matches Bern most of the time, which many can't do it.
On amanemiss cosplay, she looks too "cutesy" I can't properly describe the feeling, it always looks foreign to the character and I can't forget the fact its someone cosplaying the character.
Either way, russians at cosplay are amazing I think? Makes sense since Putin made anime real and also the whole Natalia meme.
On other note I started using this as my phone wallpaper, is it autistic or something for doing so? Sometimes normies use those google searched "wallpaper girl" using headphones or usually something related to music and its accepted socially. Do you think my choice can also pass as one of those wallpapers for normies? Or on the phone, is only just for girlfriend photos?
>is it autistic or something for doing so?
No. Just say you like the cosplay. No one's going to reject you because of your phone's wallpaper (unless it's some really creepy shit like some kid you don't know or porn).
Nein nigga. She's black.
Just finished Umineko recently. Now I'm starting Chiru and I'm already about to drop this shit. There was plenty of chuuni bullshit in the first 4 chapters but Chiru is going WAY overboard with these elements.
Does it get better later on?
>Stalked a cute Japanese girl as per usual then slyly took a photo of her to add to my collection where upon I happened to realise she was reading that series I shitpost about on /jp/
I still do. It's pretty fun, and the animations are oh so smooth. Direct IP only for multiplayer kind of sucks, and everyone on the Mizumi OMKC IRC channel is far better than I am. Manga gamer said that they MIGHT put on Steam, possibly reviving it, but I am not counting on a miracle.
>but I am not counting on a miracle
Let me help.
Dammit. It's okay, even witches have accidents.
I remember actually kind of hoping for Chunni nonsense where a man runs around an imposing mansion while talking to a bunch of people in crazy outfits. The seperation between the imaginary fantasy world and the grounded world serves its purpose.
In my headcanon Patchouli is the Witch of Knowledge, hiding in Touhou's kakera because she wants a simple life and she's Remilia friend.
6 had the fun with the logic error and for me its ending was great. Then again I associate 6 with the rampant discussion and hilarious theories that went around this board and animesuki from Shkannon versus Anti-Shkannon to try and get around the Red.
Maybe I'm being a nostalgiafag; I'll need to re-read 6 and let you know.
I play it at least weekly, but I am garbage and still use
princess modewith keyboard macros to do SP moves/grabs/meta. Been over a year of this.
Once I get every picture in the game minus the b.battler one I intend to learn how to use normal controls as I have long passed the point where the number of combos I can't perform is ticking me off, and then I will begin runs to attempt to beat black battler. If I ever beat him I will assume I am just barely okay enough to play online.
Unless one of my friends ever gets into the game before then from me offering a hundred bucks if they can beat b.battler, in which case I will be overjoyed at having someone within a mile of my skill range to play against. I would also be overjoyed if the game ended up on steam and would forcefeed everyone even 2% interested in it a copy during a sale.
I personally never liked 6 due to the fact that Beato changed back into the old Beato, which disappointed me immensely since I could never recognize her as the old Beato.
Which is why I recommended the manga version.
Wtf are you talking about? Rika is like ancient Jomon Japanese with a touch of trans-dimensional demon. Her bloodline's been isolated to Hinamizawa before even dirty Yayoi chinks came in.
Bernkastel may not be the same person, but she inhabits a slightly older copy of Rika's body so she is certainly Japanese. Dark blue hair is almost always correspondent to pure black hair in anime.
>not wanting to fuck the clearly superior Lion
Lol learn to play without Easy Mode now. Don't wasteal your time on thay weak bullshit.
Also once you learn some basics just go online. You will get your ass beat but at least you'll learn along the way.
And I really do hope OMKC does make it to Steam. I would love to troll and sandbang scrub ass players and receive hate mail from them especially from people who think "spamming" is a real thing.
Also I wanna body some tumblrinas in this game too.
Yelling BEATOORIIIICCCCCCHHHHEEEEE is actually a lot harder than it sounds and I have a lot more respect for Kinzo's and Batttler's VA's as a result of trying it out. It's really hard to sound convincing.
Useless! It's all useless! [blue]you took a screenshot and then edited it in software such as Photoshop or GIMP! It's possible that you are still a samefag with a shitty sense of humour![/blue]
REPEAT IT! 'I did not doctor this image in any way! YOU CAAAAAAN'T REPEATTTT IIIIIIIIIT!'
What if he took the image, doctored it, and then took a screenshot of that image? Then he wouldn't have doctored the image that he posted in any way, but it still would not reflect reality.
You know, an interesting thing about Battler is that he's technically the character we know least about in the Ushiromiya family.
Like, the Battler we get to know over the course of so many episodes is basically a fictional character that attains meta-awareness, but who wrote that character? Sayo.
When did she write him? Technically, probably before she met him again in 1986, because seriously there is no way she had the time AFTER the incident and the consistent death of Eva implies she didn't foresee the actual conclusion of events when she was writing.
If Sayo wrote Beatrice before meeting him in 1986, then the Battler she wrote is basically the 12 year old Battler he knows put in an 18 year old body. Which...explains a lot about Battler's personality, doesn't it? She even made him the Detective and POV character so that he was the one character beyond suspicion. The guaranteed innocent, who even comes dressing in white like a hero deserving a matching horse.
The Battler we know in Umineko is an idealized representation of him. He was definitely afraid of motorboats and plans when he was 12, but did he retain that fear when he was 18? Was he as heroic and naive and sweet and bullheaded as Sayo imagined him to be? Was he actually the true innocent or was he the murderous Black Battler?
Not even Battler himself knows. As Touya, all he has to go on is broken memories and the characterization Sayo already established; the characterization the community of Witch Hunters accepts as canon.
Not even Ange really knows, because she met him fairly rarely, and only in a specific context, which is now shaded by nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses.
The real Battler truly did die, because no one remains who can tell the world what sort of person he truly was.
Most theories other than the official explanation are impossible; the manga has opened the catbox forever. Unless Ryu comes out and says that a parallel solution exists, there's not much else to say really.
What are you guys' favorite songs from Umineko? I pretty much loop the OST day after day even after all this time. Shit's
lixAxil is my definite favorite, but all of M.Zakky's songs are pretty nice too.I wanted to punch Ange every time she told Amakusa to turn the music down. Girl has absolutely no taste whatsoever.
World End Dominator.
Every now and then I still get lost in it and remember that scene. Its been my favorite piece of music for years, that feeling of doom and hopeless rage against it is amazing to me.
Rahu Goldenslaughterer, Rougoku, system0, false red shoes or whatever, the OP of the anime, and some song I have listed as The Witch of the Cat Box (with voice) would be some of my other favorites.
Also Intellectual Rapist if that counts.
goldenslaughterer, dreamenddischarger, liberatedliberater and the like are great for the intense scenes.
I also have a special spot in my heart for 犯行の予告状読み上げ（ラック眼力) for some reason.
Worldend [Baby Piano]
Thank you for being born
Happiness of Marionette
Though all of them are great, I'd say that these are the ones I listen to the most.
For me it is 5. This is the episode where things really go off the rails, things get shaken up and the battle of anti-fantasy versus mystery makes the reader see ep 1 - 4 in a totally new light.
I know a lot of people hated episode 6, but it was the most intense and enjoyable chapter for me. The closed room battle between Erika and Battler was so entertaining I couldn't put down the game even once.
It's been a while, and this is probably controversial, but EP7. After all the speculation and actually getting to it, it was a completely different atmosphere. Everything's getting revealed, and everything feels odd. The soundtrack is great and the whole thing feels like a crazy deviation from what we were expecting.
Oh, I agree with the atmosphere of EP 7 being fantastic. Most of Clair's scenes were so serene and peaceful, it was really refreshing, plus Bice is cute as fuck.
>R07 writing straight shota
>mfw the next wtc is ss
R07 used Pottery on Higurashi and Umineko. (just like Lucas did with The Prequels)
So its confirmed that Bern is the same entity as in Higurashi. I am not very sure about Lambda, but I believe its the same with Takano.
>After being separated from Rika, Bern was lost and became like a vagrant spirit, Featherine (probably Hanyu alter ego) found her and made her, her disciple (her miko).
>Featherine wanted to teach Bern the nature of realities in their own dimension. (Realm of Gods like it was said in Saikoroshi-hen)
>So Featherine made a game for Bern (this is canon) where she would be a cat and could only escape if she was able to write the word "Miracle" as a cat, in a keyboard. Since a cat is not conscious, she had to replay it many times, resetting and by the Theorem of Infinite Monkeys, she would at least once be able to have that cat write the word "Miracle".
>(back to head canon) Bern was able to do it, and Featherine gave her the title of Witch of Miracles. Featherine wanted to teach her about her abilities and how they worked, that gave Bern understanding and independence to become a Witch. Bern understood the mechanics of cause and effect and was able to grasp its concepts, she realized that if its possible, no matter the probability, she can do it, she only needs to find the cause and effect for that ending.
>"He that increaseth knowledge, increaseth sorrow." Bern essence was almost only just the bad experiences she had in Higurashi, with the new realization that everything that happens in reality are just stories, of the possibilities, and you just need to choose the one you want to read. This made Bern have that huge need to escape boredom, which is only solved by gathering more experiences or new knowledge she doesn't know already. Bern instead of being an edgy emotionless character, she is just hiding all the sorrow and probably her hate/envy for Rika happiness. (See: Broken Bird trope)
Umineko is said that ruined many characters because they had actions that didn't make sense in their characterization. I believe instead of developing Bern, being successful in reaching "enlightenment/nirvana" just like it's hinted for Featherine to have done. Bern got addicted to fleeing from boredom looking for many ways of escapism, instead of facing and solving her Witch problems. The idea is that Lambda and Bern are teenagers in witch years. Featherine is a matured Witch, this is why she is so powerful and as far as I know she is only mentoring Bern. but probably also Lambda in some degree.
But since not every story has to be about a character reaching their goals, R07 choose the option to make Bern fail and stay immature lost in her escapism activities, mostly along with Lambda. Maybe in a future story, if not, the possibility is still there.
>"Ryukishi07 also stated that he has very detailed scenario about her and the other most powerful witches Lambdadelta and Featherine."
>Whose Tea Party?
Sorry for the autism guys, I really wanted to contribute something nice here.
Probably because I followed this development since Higurashi, all the theories, TIP stories and R07 interviews, her tropes, that made me love this character concept so much. The correct way would say that I love her concept, since I was not happy with the development in Umineko and not R07 specific character. But still was still fascinated with R07 work on it, even if I didn't like his ending, it's still his story. I just grab his original concept and think about a better possibility which I like better. This is why we make headcanons I think, it's not wrong if we state it as such, I also don't know if this was R07 idea for the reader to have, after reading Umineko, can someone confirm me this?
As I use to say, when we read stories, we are reading something from someone else, the author. Looks like a pointless statement, but people forget that we are reading a concept of an imaginary world that comes from an other human. When we read their works, we are in fact interested in understanding their views in that imaginary world, we can agree or not with the course of his story. It's healthy to doubt the authors choices and I think its the correct thing to do, then we make headcanons of what we read.
I can show you by using the Star Wars example. All the Star Wars drama we saw with the 7th movie, we could see how people were dealing with all of it. People went apeshit because someone different then Lucas changed Star Wars, it's a fact, and good that people realize it. But if you know this movie is not matching the original concept, you just have to discard it and move on. Even if it's sold as Star Wars, it doesn't matter. It's just stories around a concept, its immaterial and extremely subjective, they belong in a Tea Party™ . People inherently were interested in Lucas views (like people do with any author of a story like I said before), if Lucas was not contributing to Star Wars anymore, then its not his story anymore and you can discard it or like it for being better if that's the case.
Does anybody else get this really warm nostalgic, almost bittersweet, feeling whenever they think about umineko? I'm not one to cry easily, but the ending of umineko really made me tear up. I've never been this emotionally invested in a story before to the point where it brought me to tears. I can't deny that the story had its flaws but it was one of the best rides I've ever been on. Even years after I've finished it I can still look back on the story and not get tired of it. Even just listening to the soundtrack gives me that nostalgic feeling. In all honesty, though, and I know it might sound pretty cheesy, but umineko really changed the way I look at the world. I'd honestly consider it to be one of the best experiences I've had with a medium of entertainment. I know that's a bold statement to say, but it really struck a chord with me in a way I can't describe.
Even if it's not umineko, have any of you guys experienced this sort of feeling with something you read or watched?
There was this guy. Poor lad probably never read Chiru.
>can someone confirm me this?
pretty sure Ryuukishi did expect fans conclusion regarding the gameboard tragedy but it wouldn't be a stretch to think that he also expected some meta-WTC conclusion.
I'm getting those feeling by watching Gankutsuou and Shinsekai Yori before experiencing Chiru.
Can anyone explains which is the Prime between Ange dies in 1998 or Bluepill Ending (magic) ?
Never seen that one before, thanks for posting it. It seems Russians are either useless bydlo who will stab you for a bottle of vodka or weird geniuses with enough soul to supply a small village.
I feel that with a few things, but Umineko does it especially well considering the scope of the work and the time I spent with it. It makes you miss the characters, and hope that they are happy inside of the cat box.
Isn't this related?
>Captcha: Choose pictures of Tea
Episode 8 manga
>watching oni eat people alive.
That actually sounds really amusing. *grabs popcorn*
the real battler died because he killed himself out of fear of not being who he wanted to be. hiding, pathetically, as "touya", forever, and rejecting the only relative he ever had who didn't hate him.
[gold]truely, battler was the most pathetic ushiromiya of all.[/gold]
What I meant was that she didn't control the cat like an avatar (where the cat would be special enough to think like a human). She had to use a 100% realistic cat that would by cause and effect, be able to write that word. This was her lesson.
Anyway, thanks for reading my autistic wall of text.
I browsed DA, pixiv, tumblr, google, for every all the pictures I have.
I also have a tab with pixiv open always to get new pictures updates.
I have no idea what you want specifically.
Damn. I know this might sound pretty slowpoke-ish, but I think I just fully realized why Tohya is able to put Battler's memories to rest at the end of the story. It's because Battler is able to see Ange finding her own happiness despite what happened on the island, and because of that he's satisfied and finally able to pass on. The whole story of umineko in retrospect seems based around Ange and how she comes to terms with her grief, which I think is brilliant. You go into umineko thinking it's a standard mystery story and end up with a story about dealing with loss.
Also another question, how do you guys think George, Battler, and Jessica would have reacted to finding out the truth about Shannon and Kanon? I've heard theories about Jessica secretly being a lesbian and actually knowing what's going on with Shannon and Kanon but not really saying anything, but I really wonder how Battler and George would have taken it.
RS07 said that George would have been fine with Shannon after learning her secret. Yasu was technically a male, so Jessica still would have been straighter than 90% of the cast even though Kanon was literally a dickless homo. I like to believe in the happiest outcome for all of them. After all, that was Battler's wish.
>George would have been fine with Shannon after learning her secret
he isnt enough of a man to find another girl n the first place. if his one and only ''true and honest'' love that he fantasized for years turned out to be a male, im sure he'd just be like "o-okay :("
BErn a BEst.
You are being overly literal and forsaking Higurashi's canon. The game she had with Featherine had a goal that was _like_ a cat writing "Miracle" on a keyboard. Important word is like.
As Hanyuu and Featherine shares many similarities, it is probable that Featherine participated in Higurashi's game. If that is the case, then she met Bern in this game.
Frankly, the simplest explanation is the best. Higurashi was a game between Featherine and Lambada, with Bernkastel as Featherine miko. When Featherine could not win she left Bernkastel to fend for herself. She won the game by pure miracle by trying again and again.
This is the likeliest explanation, one that is the most logical and coherent.
Let me see if I got this straight. The solution to the logic error in Episode 6 is that Yasu, as Shannon, left through the window and changed into Kanon. Then Kanon switched places with Battler. After hiding in the closet Yasu stopped being Kanon, and therefore Kanon does not exist in the closet. Is that right or did I misunderstand anything?
I just don't agree with the part where Bern was already Witch of Miracles in Higurashi.
This means that the whole Rika separated from Bern won't make sense, besides, R07 specifically said Bern was created from 100 years development in Rika.
Using something also mentioned in Nasuverse, a "heroic spirit" is timeless, so it can come from any place in time, even the future.
This means that Bern or any Witch is not bound to a timeline and so, the current Witch Bern could interact with her past, in Higurashi. She could be playing in a game where the events where all about her origin which would be a paradox.
Depends, i think they WOULD have make it clear to Yasu that she/he had hurt their feelings, but eventually i think all three would have helped Yasu.
The DMM page for Iwaihime has some cool CG previews on it:
I do not understand your incomprehension.
Rika was a piece in Higurashi, Featherine's piece. Higurashi was a fight between Featherine and Lambdadelta. When she could not win anymore, Featherine left, trapping Rika into a logic error against the relentless Lambdadelta.
This went for hundred of years. Bernkastel was born of Rika trying desperately to sort the logic error out and win the fight for herself. Then, after an undisclosed amount of time, by chance, like a cat writing 'Miracle' on a typewriter, Rika found a solution and won. Bernkastel, Witch of Miracle, was born from the meta struggle of all the Rika during Higurashi.
This is very strongly what is implied to have happened in episode 6. Very, very strongly. You can entertain other theories, but you seem to be at loss and confused.
TRianThology manga Chapters 1 and 2 released.
>Higurashi was a game between Featherine and Lambada, with Bernkastel as Featherine miko. When Featherine could not win she left Bernkastel to fend for herself.
You say that Featherine and Lambda were playing a game, right.
You say also that Bern already exists before the ENDING of that game (as in complete Witch of Miracles like in Umineko), by saying Bern was already Featherine miko before that same ENDING.
You say that Featherine quit trying to win the Higurashi game, so left just left Bern (once again, the complete Witch of Miracles like in Umineko) to solve the problem by her self.
What I don't agree is that you are saying that Bern was already COMPLETE before the Higurashi ending.
Unless, none of these implications were what you were trying to say. And this is what I don't understand, your post.
>This is the story written by Tanaka Romeo, so maybe it’ll get as a dark as A Drug That Makes You Dream did (not the best VN out there, but a nostalgic gateway drug for me!).
This guy has no idea what he's talking about,
Hmm. So is this Takano before the events of Higurashi? Or is it a Takano from an alternate timeline of the Higurashi universe? Either way, I guess it sounds kind of interesting, but I don't want to get too hyped for it.
Bern and Rika are one and the same before the full birth of Bernkastel, and subsequent disjointing. When she says she lived for hundred of years in a logic error, she really means her Rika life.
Umineko tends to attract people with an overly literal mindset who are unable to grasp the simplest of abstract thought. I don't mean you, personally, but things like the Rosatrice theory is built on your type of nitpicking and literal mindset.
Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about this, but I think the top right of this page says 6th month (June) of Showa 58 (1983). So it seems to at least take place at the same time as Higurashi, unless I'm wrong about the numbers
It sounds more likme this is an alternative Takano
If this is just Lambda's game, then it would make sense that she just created a new scenario that also happens to involve crazy villagers and man eating demons.
>Yasu got shot by Erika while in the closet so Kanon dissapeared
That's complete bullshit and it has been disproved many times already.
Some people just don't want to listen I guess.
What is this exactly?
This Trianthology WTC5 Horutabi or whatever, its so confusing I have no idea what is what.
Can someone explain?
This is the prologue to Hotarubi, which is the new WTC manga. The prologue came from a book which is a collection of short stories as far as I know.
Trianthology is a VN that was announced a while ago, but doesn't have a release date yet. It's supposed to be three different stories that somehow connect with each other, and a manga adaptation of the first story just started a couple of days ago, called Country Girl.
How do you guys know Hotarubi is the new WTC manga? There's not really mention of it being so anywhere. I just assumed it would just be some short manga with takano or something.
My current crack theory is that Hotarubi along with Country Girl will start covering two of the three stories that will eventually make up Tri as WTC5, with the way they link together being shown in Tri itself later.
I'm probably completely wrong.
Hotarubi is not part of Trianthology, we already know what the three stories are about
And here is the interview:
>Q: What is the relationship between Rika and Frederica Bernkastel? A: Bernkastel is composed of all the negative emotions and memories from the Rika that endured 100 years of torment in Higurashi. On a side note, he mentioned that Rika was BT’s favorite character, so he greatly enjoyed making Rika evil to see BT’s reaction.
Everything but Hotarubi and The First And Last Gift.
The only thing that Iwahime and Trianthology share with WTC is the writer, same shitty art, and possibly some expy characters judging by RS07's track record with these things.
The Last Season OP is also pretty kick-ass: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8S07QsIF8Lc
I really liked Rose Guns Days. A lot of people will tell you that the first half of the first game is weak, and it's true. It's not outright bad, it just that it feels aimless. But eventually they introduce the real villain, and real narrative arc, and it gets wicked awesome after that. It's a roller coaster of twists, snappy one-liners, political machinations, and unexpectedly brutal main character deaths.
It's basically just a twitch mini-game. It doesn't actually effect the story, though...it's just for getting a high score. You can actually turn off the gameplay and just do story mode, which is what I did ever the 1st Season.
In Horutabi Prologue, Lambda keeps her consciousness with the piece, doesn't seem correct for the game rules right?
Can someone explain me, is Takano conscious of Lambda? Or something like this.
>She blushes over a dirty joke
I mean breaking forth wall for the reality in the game, with their own pieces. The pieces would know information beyond the game reality, by having the consciousness of the players (Witches)
You're confusing the rules of 'a game' with the rules of 'all the games'.
Umineko was a mystery themed game with a strong emphasize on what is possible by a human vs what could only be done by a witch. Fine. But Higurashi was a fundamentally other game with other rules and other goal posts.
Nothing prevents Bern and Lambda from, say, playing a game where they both sponsor a typical shonen protag and watch who of them both survive to the villain.
enjoy being bullied by your siblings.
Better that than lusting after my brothers dick to the point of near suicide, being an overacting fool before nearly drowning and losing myself mentally forever, or lusting after my younger relative whilst dressing up as a girl, to be honest.
Can anyone read what the series description of that new bottom-left manga is?
I can't read Japanese, but as far as I can tell it's the only series in that picture that isn't referred to by name. It says it's an original work by Ryukishi07 and Higa Yukari. I have no clue what the rest of the text says though
Oh, here's the source for the artist being Higa Yukari by the way. I somehow forgot to link it
But the picture also says 緋賀 ゆかり which is her name
She's so fucking adorable, I hope Iwaihime gets translated as soon as possible
I just found out there's a thing called
>Forgery of the purple logic
Sounds quite fun, but I'm guessing there's no translations for it. Which brings me to my next question.
Are there any raws available for it?
After re reading this for the 3rd time I'm still surprised how much I missed on my first and second read. Especially on my first, which I now consider more like speed read than a proper read.
What does theway the stakes and others dress have to do with Yasu?
Kind of related to what >>14690024 said, but I always assumed the Stakes etc. were Maria and Yasu's designs that Ange found in Maria's diary and then made imaginary friends from. I could be wrong though.
>Are there any raws available for it?
Finding raws of WTC-stuff is always really fucking hard for some reason, but this site seems to have the whole manga, which is only 10 chapters long
I also found raws for the untranslated part of Episode 7, if anyone are interested in that. It's a little different from the VN
So is the Rosatrice theory finally dead forever now that the manga literally explains how all the murders were committed?
What do you guys make of this? Does this mean the ending of Episode 4 is the real one, and the Magic ending is just an illusion?
Ange did "die" in 1998, but since red truths can be interpret in many ways if they're vague enough, Ange interpret it as her past self dying and being reborn as a new person, Kotobuki Yukari.
Bern is my waifu, so I would stay forever.
>bro relative lets you stay in a room for free
>is in your class is teaching you the ropes
>tells you to stay away from someone
>ignore her and save the creepy girl, ignoring the possibility of her being a toe-sucking masochist
It didn't take long for mc to fuck up
It started so mind-numbingly generic I thought the only way it could redeem itself was if it showed some self-awareness.
Then the eldritch abomination/rape scene happened and now I don't know what to think.
Damn. This seems like it has a totally different feel from anything that he's previously wrote, and it seems almost too dark for him. (I haven't read Higanbana so I don't know if this is darker than that. ) I hope it's actually good and not just edgy shit like this.
Well, that was both weird and interesting. I'm interested in seeing where it goes.
He's making up for lost time.
Higanbana was much darker. Right now, it's rather tame. For comparison, Higanbana starts with a teacher sexually abusing a younger student through blackmail, gets paranoid thats she might talk then kills her.
Thank you kind anon.
She's also a piece of shit and a monster.
>he fell for the 'Lambda acts noble and sacrificed herself for worthless people'
Lambda never changed. She's insanely broken, cynical and deadly. That one moment you see her talking privately to Ange, blackmailing her to play easy is the true Lambda. She shows her true colors again when telling Beatrice to play seriously to win. In ep 8, Lambda isn't doing this out of the goodness of her heart. She's doing it to win. It's all a play. If the diary had been shown to the public Beatrice would have lost. Lambda made it so that the game ending in a draw.
I really find it weird that people fell for her noble sacrifice bullshit in ep 8. She pretends to be an airhead to get close to Bernkastel. She pretends to sacrifice herself to get the sympathy of the reader and to win the game. Witches are always cruel.
Another good example of Lambda pretending to be weak is when Featherine defeats her. By a logical standpoint, Featherine is stronger since Lambda's powers relies on Causality which is something a writer can ignore, bend or break at will. However, Higurashi was a fight between Lambda and Featherine and the former poisoned the latter. This is why Rika was without any help.
No, that's the whole manga. It ends with Battler and Beato saying they've found out who the culprint is, and then they challenge the reader to do the same. It ended in 2013 and only has 2 volumes
I want Bern to be my twin sister, do not sexualize my sister.
If Lambda does all that pretending and such, why doesn't Bern also pretended to be an insane irrational killers bla bla bla? You really trust R07 characterization on those episodes?
Also Lambda is Certainty, Bern is more Causality then Lambda, to reach those almost impossible probabilities of success you must have a good sense of cause and effect. Also the write can skip causality in the story, its bad, but its still writing, almost like Deus Ex Machina or plot holes, the story keeps going, even if its badly written.
Would you make babies with her, /jp/?
I would love if this was Higanbana 2.0, but I worry it'll be more like Okamikakushi 2.0.
When will they stop shoving their way into our gameboard?
But then again, all the girls seem to have antlers, so who knows
>She's also a piece of shit and a monster.
Bern did nothing wrong, ho.
>I want Bern to be my twin sister, do not sexualize my sister.
The love is pure.
>why doesn't Bern also pretended to be an insane irrational killers
She's also pretending to a certain extent. I'm just not as certain what part is Bernkastel's true self and when she's just pretending for the story. Lambda is more cut and dry with those two examples of being cold, calculating and destructive. Bern is also shows to be a different character, able to care, make jokes, at the end of ep 8. That, personally, is something you would never see Bernkastel do in Umineko. But when the game is over, she casually tease Erika and jokes about it, and not in the overbearing femdom way either.
You have to look at the outlier of emotions to know what a true person is like. I would argue that Bernkastel also pretends to be completely emotionless in Umineko. You can tell she has some care and emotion when you read Bernkastel's letters to Featherine.
She's being a real asshole and a cunt. For sure.
I hate Bernkastel like nothing else.
I just thought of something. Is it possible that her family is related to Hanyuu's clan or is an alien?
Hanyuu was an alien that changed her shape to appear more human but wasn't able to change completely, leaving her horns. Meaning she likely used to be some sort of animal type. Don't those front horns look a bit like Hanyuu's?
Is it a stretch to assume that it's possible that the horn thing is ingrained throughout generations? Some latent ability that flows in the blood? The curse is one that spans 1000 years, essentially the same amount of time after Hanyuu and her clan came to earth.
>I would argue that Bernkastel also pretends to be completely emotionless in Umineko.
As I said before, Bern has a Broken Bird trope attached to her, this means that she plays emotionless to hide the sadness/sorrow she got from the whole Higurashi stuff, 100 dead Rikas etc. The true Bern can be seen very well on Higurashi, mostly on Rikas monologues.
If you hate Bern you probably are not seeing her properly too.
Without love, it cannot be seen and I don't want to see her.
The Bern from Higurashi is different since she didn't break free from Hanyuu. That happened after Rei.
She's kind of bad at hiding it too
The translation is acceptable. No glaring flaws as far as I have seen. They also do have translation notes like the Witch Hunt's translation.
However as for the red/blue truths, to quote the TL notes, 'due to the high cost and difficulty of recreating this effect in an otherwise black-and-white manga' they they use bold for red and italics for blue instead.
>they use bold for red and italics for blue instead
I was kind of assuming so, since the Japanese manga does something similar.
What about the color pages like this one then?
All the pages are black and white, except a few pieces of artwork like pic related and hilariously enough the contents page at the very beginning.
Although I've obviously read the VN, I haven't actually read the individual manga's themselves, and I'm still going through chapter 5 in the books, so I didn't even know some pages were colored at all in the original. Do you have any pages from chapters 1 to 4 so I can see them in color as opposed to the black and white I have?
It's hard to pick a favorite so I'll dump a few of the scenes I felt benefited from being in the manga as opposed to the VN in a minute. I'm using my phone's camera and the books are awkward to photograph so apologies in advance for low quality.
Kek let's hope it doesn't happen again
Does the unofficial translation have sfx TL notes?
>and I'm still going through chapter 5 in the books, so I didn't even know some pages were colored at all in the original.
It's pretty easy to tell when one page was originally in color or not.
I can say that the original manga's pages were changed to black and white in the Japanese releases.
Pic related is the only picture I would expect to remain colored in the English release.
The manga doesn't have very many color pages, but sometimes there's one or two at the beginning of a chapter
>making the same mistake twice
Chapter 3 has a lot of scenes that work well in print, so my favorite it likely in there somewhere.
Last pic because you get the picture.
It's not in the book ;_;
Do you recognize either of these?
Sorry I should have said 'it's not in the book in color, because it's in black and white'. Your pic related here >>14698675
Looks a bit like clair.
I prefer the PS3 one because to me it fits more on her because of the similarities to EVAs dress and that its like a funeral dress. That and just aesthetically I like her PS3 one better
I like some of the other dresses she had in her concept art more than the gold dress or the PS3 dress. I don't really find her official dresses very appealing.
Oh, okay. Got it.
Reminder that Natsume Kei was the best seacats manga artist
5 was great too but Natsume Kei also did 1 and 3 which both looked amazing.
>"When he first thought of Erika, she was exactly like Bern, but that's kind of boring so he made some adjustment to turn her into a HENTAI. HENTAI."
>Do you recognize either of these?
No, those were probably made specifically for the volumes.
While we're on the topic, i thought this page looked kind of cool
>He’s definitely planning on continuing the ‘When They Cry’ series, but he doesn’t know in what form yet. As well as a visual novel, it could be an anime or manga, etc.
I don't really like the sound of that last part
Well, TRI was meant to be a VN until he got sick near the end of RGD and had to delay.
Then I'll dump a couple of CGs you might not have seen.
Possibly. Not entirely sure what they going for honestly
Probably not, I just found it funny that the M37 Cluster was found somewhere that starts with 'Au'
Really? Sweet, I thought they ditched the VN and went for manga instead. Not sure why they're adapting the first story into a manga either.
Is there a reason why Iwaihime isn't supported on Windows 10? I still have 7, so it doesn't really matter, I just think it's a bit weird
>EP 6 art
How is it possible to have taste this bad?
Looking through the Nico Nico Seiga page, Tanaka Romeo mentioned something about turning it into a manga "since the story turned out really well," or something. Though ultimately the main reason is probably just promotion of the VN.
That doesn't really make sense, though. I don't think Ryukishi07 has enough wide appeal in Japan to go straight to an anime.
