I love Begin Japanology, Peters voice is so soothing and you always learn some really unique info about even the most mundane of things. My only gripe is that I wish they didn't record English dubs over the Japanese speakers during interviews. I would much prefer Japanese + subtitles. But then again it's useful for when I'm watching it when I'm going to sleep. Also I fucking hate Matt Alt (from the Japanology Plus One segments), what an annoying prick.

The script is written by Japanese team in NHK world duh, Peter is just the host. They always interview Japanese people whose expert on the topic (have you ever seen the show anyway?).
But then Peter himself lived in Japan for a long time, and he can give his own perspective "Back when I first arrived in Japan, I thought...etc etc"

Matt Alt completely fucks the atmosphere of the show within two seconds of opening his sperg mouth. He's like something out of a shitty Discovery Channel slot, and it sure doesn't help that his hands-on segments are always filmed and edited to feel like a low-key action scene.
