If you can handle the huge casual filters and some very ass-backwards design in the games, then yes it is a very neat and charming series.
942 is the best one but you might not want to play it first for story reasons

Seeing Sekai Project referenced in the C89 compilation almost made me vomit.

Blue Mica's trailer is not in there. Ghost hunter came out this comiket. I'm guessing they will sell the game to stores at a later date. It would be nice to be able to play it beforehand.

Tried Ghost9 Solid demo, I guess it's over after beating Ichimakase and Tenmyouya? Besides that there's just that girl who ends the demo (looks like Nine from Hacker9). I think there were gym clothes behind a breakable door though but no RPG-7 to be found.

Also what was with the partner thing? I'd assume it at least changes the after-boss dialogue but forgot to test it

I got around to playing the demo, and I saw the part with the gym clothes.

It turns out that in order to get to it you have to use the shovel (it has the property of destroying breakable door and boxes that contain items) that you find in the teacher's lounge. (The shovel also allows you to gain access to the roof (which has that pole-like weapon, and gives you a nice view of the outside zombie apocalypse), since a destructible box prevents you from reaching the top)

Since weapons have a limited number of uses before they become inoperable, you have to sell them and buy them back to repair them (the repaired shovel has 25 uses I believe).

I was a bit disappointed that the gym clothes now don't give you the speed bonus (which would have been nice for weaving through the infected/zombies), but rather it's just Def.+1.

I guess that the partner system will probably be used in such a way that certain partners trigger certain flags.

Well damn, never thought it would be the shovel that lets you break things.

I did some testing and apparently you only get the after-boss dialogue if you have Takanashi in your party.
As it turns out, he's a not-so-professional spy for the same group the bosses belong to, "Successors of Iron", who are after Ayumu because he took that piece of junk Yasutsuna from the principal's room (you can actually find it in the storage box already)

Thanks for that little bit of translation. After completing the demo I was planning on going over the dialogue (when you beat the lower floor boss with Takanashi in tow) and translating (I think I still probably will).

Don't know if i like the new controls and weapon/heal limitation of GHost9 Solid. Started it two times and got stuck in a situation where i was poisened, out of money and ammo.

The limitations suck but I guess they're a part of the setting, and as long as you don't screw yourself over it's actually quite easy on Ghost9 standards. The zombies are generally easy to avoid and for once you don't even have to grind because there are so many HP ups around.
Hekatoncheir demo was way harder, even the minigun considered.

What I really don't like about both is the free Z axis movement though, it takes away from the 2.5D element and makes platforming awkward at times

Gameplay's pretty simple, and some of the spells you can buy are literally spells you start with, but with higher damage, like Flame Assault.

I haven't progressed past the wind boss, but there are so far only 2 enemy types.

The game is fully voiced, and it's not too bad, but the girl's "kya"s are getting on my nerves.

This. Although without free movement, avoiding the infected would be rather cumbersome.

Also I think the game could have done with out the double tap required to rotate planes, as I don't consider looking up/down (which is rather limited in viewing distance) to be of more importance than plane rotation.

And I still miss the ability to shoot up and down. (there were no available guns in the demo to my knowledge, but seeing as how the movement mechanic is almost the same as Hekatoncheir I'll assume that's the case)
