It's like an endless cycle. I can't draw, so I can't make nifty concept art to draw other devs in, so I can't do shit but try my hardest at slowly learning every aspect of building a game from scratch. Then I get angry at my inability to program anything so I try and draw again. Why can't I just be good at something.

1. Learn fundamentals. Thats shapes and shit. Get a book on it.

2. Genuinely want to improve. This means you still want to get better and TRY even when what you draw looks like garbage. You DO NOT get better by trying to draw something, getting frustrated and stopping. That is how you don't improve. You have to genuinely want to improve your ability and enjoy the challenge of learning new things, that is what keeps you going and not quitting.

3. Learn to not feel like shit when you fail. Failing is inevitable, everyone starts somewhere. Turn your failure into a learning experience. Look at something you did wrong and thing "how can i make this better, what did (artist) do right that I did wrong? how can i improve this particular thing i didnt do so well?" analyze it.

4. Analyze life. Life is number 1 thing to learn from. With color look at how objects reflect light, and how different materials do different things. With people look at shapes and the flow of their movement. just get a new understanding for life-drawing. get a book on it. theres pdfs out there.


5. Practice. Dont give up. You improve the more you draw, if you truly enjoy the process of learning and creating something then practicing will come naturally and you'll want to keep at it.

6. Nature FIRST, style second. A lot of artists complain about "anime style" Im not one of those people, i think it has its own merits and appeal, BUT, THIS IS IMPORTANT; You see all those really good manga artists? They got there because they originally learned from realism. They learned from nature FIRST and applied that knowledge to anime/manga/porn. Now heres the kicker; learning to draw somewhat realistically is IMPORTANT, its not necessary to never draw in a style though, I encourage you to learn realistically but in your "not so serious practice time" have fun with applying that realistic knowledge to the style you prefer. THAT is the key to keeping your interest. Especially when you are new.

Ifs very hard for you to get in trouble if its a traditional medium like oils or something since that is regarded as more skillfull, beautiful, and artsy than just doing it on a computer. So if its traditional mediums then you have less to worry about.

Another thing is the piece has to have some sort of "artistic merit" I know, its complete bullshit as art is subjective and literally anything eye-pleasing can be considered art (including lolis)
But people tend to freak the fuck out if its overly pornographic, so whatever you do needs to be tasteful and not in-your-face about it.

Some artists can get away with being extremely lewd if they over-explain their artwork with art-school pseudo intellectual tripe, basically BULLSHITTING a "message" as an excuse to show some loli, this is very hard to pull off as you can be a great bull-shitter but if you arent popular or dont have the connections then people might not listen to your bullshit story about how the your pic is about "post-modern dissidence of modern youth culture" or some nonsense.

If you're tasteful and not drawing straight up porn, you really wouldnt have to worry too much. The art world is very finicky like that.
Even if its tasteful you'll still have people throwing rocks at you, but thats happened since the dawn of time, and if you love being creative you'll do what you want regardless of what others tell you.

Be tasteful, something can be pleasing without it being fully pornographic and if you're subtle enough the lolicons will pick up on it but the normal will just think its a masterful portrait.

OR you could just be ballsy and do whatever you want and not care, which some do and it tends to work for them.

I've already read articles on google about how to style yourself (outfits that complement, flatter you), along with other stuff about patterns (stripes, checks, etc.), and how to wear various outfits from different seasons. I've also read articles and catalogs about modern Japanese and European fashion. The hardest part for me is to try and visualize the article of clothing you want to draw on the character. I guess just I need a deeper understanding of how it works.

I've been kinda craving the idea of making a game with a Vanillaware playstyle (not artsyle, but the size of the characters in relation, like your standard Western adventure game).

I'm just not sure if something like that is possible in RPGMaker. I know it is in Wolf RPG Editor, since A Vague Story did it rather nicely.

I think I'm more worried about smooth animation for the sprites, as making them still is one thing, as that's just drawing a nice picture, but animating a sprite smoothly is another.

I've heard some talks about people trying to import emofuji animations into Wolf RPG Editor, but I don't know so much about that.

From what I know, Krita is a very good program
built for tablet users. buy one pal, its fifty bucks or less if secondhand. mouse have its dignity as tool, but what you learn with it is hardly appliable to anything else
anyhow I think that for sketching there's no a "best" tool, since the effectiveness of the practice depends on the person and not on the gear

It depends on how natural everything comes to you I think. I for one, can really relax when I am coloring. But when I am sketching, I have to use a lot more precision and hand-to-eye coordination, which makes it much harder for me than coloring which I have a lot more fun with anyway.

Build hand eye coordination and fine motor control. Have her fill pages and pages with small circles and then move her on to drawing slightly larger circles. After a few days of this she can try drawing a simple potted plant. Have her draw this plant over and over again for one or two months. Once she is able to accurately convey the plant's volume, pluck a leaf off of a tree and lay it onto a white sheet of paper. She is allowed to draw this leaf now.

In about six months of drawing that leaf you can let her use a pencil instead of a fine tipped felt pen. With this pencil, have her start drilling with small circles again.
