1. not that many singers are proficient enough to re-record in multiple languages anyway, besides the cost would be exorbitant to the record company.
2. It was tried in Europe in the 1960s, notably by The Beatles; who had picked up enough German to make it a reasonable proposition for the record company; however the market favoured the English original by something like 2-3:1. This approach tapered off by the 1970s and the only artists that had made attempts in Japanese that I can recall off-hand were David Bowie and a phonetic recording by Queen during that time.

Version 7 of the big Touhou jazz torrent is here. I hope some people here will enjoy it!
There's some good new stuff in here. It looks like Tokyo Active NEETs got together a who's who of (currently active) jazz circles and had them each do a song, on their album Blue Note. Pretty cool, and it's titled Vol. 1, so hopefully there'll be more.
