Understand that it's mostly script writing and very little programming. Compared to basically any other kind of game, you're really writing a program to read someone a book.

You'll probably find it a lot easier if you treat the script writing like an essay or something.... outline, rough drafts, editing, etc.


it'll eventually make sense and fall into place but unless you can really separate the writing from the programming, or be able to make up your story as you code it, thinking about it in tradition game development terms won't be super helpful...

For that matter, you'd likely not be doing any programming at all. There are already VN frameworks out there; all you need to do is provide the story and art. And like other anon said, a visual novel is 90% novel. Approach it as such.

I wonder whatever happened to the translation. I thought about helping out sometimes but it's been ages since I even played it and I hated almost everybody back when I did, especially Ai.(I hate her 0 self-esteem personality) I should play through it again now that my Japanese has improved over the years.

One thing I liked is how even the kinda minor side girls had ero scenes. I also liked how you had to do stuff to get onto routes other than just choose answers.

Lots of DFC characters, route locked routes(as in you have to complete routes to unlock other routes), and Mii masturbating everywhere all the time. Mii is actually a little different in her nature, most of the characters aren't like that and do have scenes relatively lately.

I also used to have the fan disc, but I deleted/lost it for some reason. I need to see if I can get that again.

Wish there were more eroge with artstyles like this around these days.

The modern cookie cutter bishoujo template is really ugly to my eyes most of the time, I can only stomach it if the artist knows how to draw bodies properly.

I posted a roll chart in that thread for very obscure Touhou characters. It was fun trying to think of 100 non-Windows games characters. I'm not posting it here though because mods don't like roll charts since they tend to derail threads, but please look at it, I worked really hard on it!
