People don't give a shit about the rest of the world and will literally build their families and lives in this place, while contemplating the sun and beautiful landscapes that our country has to offer. I don't know if OP is still there but by looking at the thread and seeing so few informative answers from my fellow countrymen, I d like to throw in my two cents in a non memetic way

As far as I'm aware of Brazil is and has always been in dire need of a synchronized combination of two solutions that at later stages branches into three and then, some time later, five.

The first one goes along the need of an unified and effective kind of countrywide educational plan by a sharply inflated growth in this area's budget towards better incentive policies for teachers and coordinators and better investments in infrastructure.

Second one happens to be fattening the budget on cultural and media campaigns towards the goal of painfully slowly but ever steady deconstructing our most abominable quirks such as our cult of welfare, cult of getting advantage from everyone everywhere (the "jeitinho"), cult of slacking, the afterglow from the "coronelismo" mentality that lingers inside us and ultimately finds it way in our social and economic many hierarchies. This one is specially hard to maintain because it has the potential to easily enough step right in many kinds of censorships, hence the reason why this probably is going to be something very slow. Soap operas are not going away overnight after all.

The Third new one exists as a generation long consequence of the first two, on which our politicians, that we almost always tend to demonize but never stop for a bit to think and realize are but a subset of ourselves as society, would start to reflect those new values too, thereby becoming both less corrupt and more technically efficient in their governing exercises
