my dad makes around $900k a year but we grew up in a lower middle class neighborhood and generally did lower middle class stuff

I think this is because my dad grew up really poor so he didn't really know how to "be rich"

Yeah, my dad grew up rich, but he is very conservative with money. He made about 500k a year but lived on probably 50k of that and saved the rest. In some ways, I think that I am better off for it, but also life would have been much easier if he would have used his connections and money to get my foot in the door like other rich parents do.
