As a former fatty if you don't get that shit under control while you are young you will delude yourself into thinking "ill start next week" forever until you have your 5th heart attack and the doctor shrinks your stomach with a band and says you will die if you keep it up.

i dont like to be around people too much either in gym, the gym i go to is small as fuck. luckily i found a good time when to go there so not a single soul around except my own.
but there is always the running option, like if you go running for a hour or so every morning or late at night (depending how safe its out there) you could lose weight fast, assuming you also change your eating habits, like drop out sugar, stop eating late at night etc.
well you just cant go at the running with everything you got instantly. like if you start hard, you will lose interest immeaditely. you need to start slow, like 10min walking and minute of running or like that, depending how bad your stamina is. if you do it daily, your stamina should get better already in a week or two.
