I take proscar and divide it by five. true but I used this "anti-hair loss" shampoo for a while and it did improve the quality of my hair in the areas that were prone to falling,before it was very frail and dry,now he folicles are thicker and not dry like the rest of my hair. it's pretty cheap(if you can find it) about 2-3 euros and it's a good general shampoo too,no more itchy/flakey scalp

I'm 27, been losing hair since about 21, started finasteride 1.25mg every day at age 22 (Propecia), costs me $27 a year, I've barely lost any hair in the 5 years I've taken it, front part of my hair is a little bit limp and my hairline is a little receded, but I just put some styling shit in my hair to give it more volume and it looks decent on a good hair day, feels good when I see tons of other dudes my age who are far worse than me, my cousin started balding after I started and he is already shaving his head because his hair is beginning to look like OP's.

The 'big three' is a nickname for using the 3 most effective treatments. Propecia, Rogaine and Nizoral shampoo.

Male pattern baldness is caused by a chemical called Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in your blood. DHT is created from testosterone. It causes inflammation in your hair follicles on your head, this inflammation causes them to shrink and this causes them to fall out.

Each of the treatments deal with this in a different way.

Nizoral shampoo contains ketoconazole, this is a powerful testosterone blocker which also blocks the production of DHT. Because it is applied locally on your scalp it helps prevent DHT damage to your hair follicles without harming your internal hormone balance. This is the least effective treatment. You use it twice a week.

I currently use propecia pills, rogaine spray and nizoral shampoo. I have had no further balding since I starting and a little bit of regrowth.

I have experienced a few side effects. My balls hurt for a few days after I started using propecia, it was nothing major just a dull ache. The ache went away after a week. I also started getting some weird hair growth. The small white hairs on your forehead, cheeks and ears start to grow thicker and faster. I now have to trim those hairs which you couldn't even see before.

I'm about to switch from rogaine spray to rogaine foam because the spray is pretty hard to apply where I want it. You need to apply rogaine to your scalp but the spray tends to stick in my hair.

My big advice would be get treatment straight away. The big three stops hair loss but it doesn't make much grow back.

I've done a lot of research on this subject. If you are balding, here are your options

1. Shave your head. This is the best course of action

2. Propecia aka Finasteride. This DHT inhibitor will stop your hair from falling out in the vast majority of cases, and may even regrow hair. However, in some cases (1.5 to 2 percent or even more if you believe some people) it has severe sexual side effects such as erectile dysfunction and reduced ejaculate volume. In extreme cases, hormone replacement therapy is needed to achieve an erection. A pretty good option since the patent on propecia expired recently, pills can be had cheaply. However, as the worst possible consequence is permanent ED I have personally not taken it

3. Hair transplants. Protip: unless you can afford the absolute best doctors in the world like actors (you can't) you will buy a few more years of thin hair, which will eventually fall out leaving you with a big scar on the back of your head.

If you cure the reason — excessive conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestisterone in them and related vasospasm, hair can grow back.
