Why are the europeans so much better than North Americans at esports?
Because they can't compete in real sports
>Inb4 Divegrass is a "sport"
>slow as fuck
>everyone dies from one hit so that shitters have a chance to get kills too
>no pickup locations to memorize
>3 weapon limit
>no projectile weapons
nice "competitive" shooter, counter-casuals
europe has a longer more mainstream tradition of PC gaming while americans play on consoles. the cod console "esports" "scene" is dominated by americans. growing up everyone I knew had a PC capable of at least some gaming. cool kids and sport jocks etc. played counter-strike, not halo or gears of war.
whoops that was sochi alone here is all time
>lots of displays of skill
Arena shooters have a steeper learning curve and a higher skill ceiling than CS does
>lots of strategy and tactics
Literally every other shooter has strats and tactics as well
>potential for amazing comebacks and turnarounds
literally every arena shooter does this as well
>overtime is hype af
can't argue with that
>best Dota team in USA
>1 poo in loo, Allah akhbar and a Uzbeki trash
You can't count winter olympics
Winter Olympics consist of meme sports that only a few nations even have the weather to compete in. They are about as relevant as the X-games.
Everybody can do the Summer Olympics
The most based people on that list:

This is why all of you American dissers on /int/ are fucking fags.
If anything EG is what America is all about - the land of opportunity. Bunch of 3rd worlders coming to the U.S.A, becoming the best at their thing, and succeeding massively.
It's beautiful. It's glorious. Meanwhile the best your fucking Somalian shithole has to provide is a team of fucking frauds who can only play effectively in one specific meta.
>arena shooters are autism
Arena shooters have a higher skill ceiling, which proves that CS does not deserve the title of "the best fps esport by far"
>cs is teamwork and actually fun
Arena shooters have teamwork as well, nigger. Also, going fast is more fun than going slow. CS has boring movement compared to games with rocketjumping, walljumping etc. It doesn't help that the game only has hitscan weapons
nobody is disputing EG is a good team. but NA vs EU isn't measured by just one team representing the region. NA has literally no other tier 1 teams and these days it's hard to even call any NA team tier 2.
>You can't be American unless you're a white guy named Cletus
Posting some of my bait images from back in the day
That made me sad also, I followed SC2 for a time but it was just so fucking lame. Stopped at the end of WoL. Moved on to LoL, then got bored of it, so on to Dota. And a bit of CS. Fucking love doters desu.
Pretty similiar for me except I stuck around for like 6 months of heart of the swarm because at least it wasn't broodlord-infestor. Switched to CS:GO and 1500 hours later got fed up how every patch made it more shit and less like 1.6 and switched to dota.
>but these games are created and balanced around the esports scene = created for Europeans
This is what Euros actually believe
Forget that Esports began in the US and that some of the largest competitive tournaments are held in the US and most of their playerbase is centered in the US. Lets just take the credit for game decisions like a bunch of cunts...
>The earliest known video game competition took place on October 19, 1972 at Stanford University for the game Spacewar. Stanford students were invited to an "Intergalactic spacewar olympics" whose grand prize was a year's subscription for Rolling Stone, with Bruce Baumgart winning the five-man-free-for-all tournament and Tovar and Robert E. Maas winning the Team Competition. The Space Invaders Championship held by Atari in 1980 was the earliest large scale video game competition, attracting more than 10,000 participants across the United States, establishing competitive gaming as a mainstream hobby
Brood War was broadcast around 5am where I live on the east coast of NA. I would stay up all friday night, go to bed early on saturday to get up at 5 and watch with IRC chat and /v/. It was the comfiest thing ever while it lasted
Fucking love tasteless, what a guy.
His wit and humor got me into Brood War and esports
My best friend loves that image, kek. That pleased look on his face. Hah. RIP.
Miss all the great leagues, the OSLs, MSLs, etc. It was so great seeing the storylines for each develop
>competing for the high score of pong is not esports.
Ummmm yes it is. They're competing via an electronic medium
Don't give me bullshit semantic arguments.
Never get tired of that shit
A fucking tournament for a subscription to Rolling Stone, while petty, is definitely organized. I don't see your point
>with that definition everyone who's ever visited an arcade where the machine tracks high scores is a part of ELECTRONIC SPORTS.
If there was a prize for said high score, then yes that's exactly what it means. This isn't difficult to understand
where do you derive this definition and why do you think it's the correct one?
the definition of sports doesn't include anything about a prize so it can't be that. but all video games aren't esports so there must be something else in the definition that sports don't include.
you say prize, i think that's dumb because you could have a farmville contest or tamagochi contest or a contest for building the nicest minecraft world and those aren't esports. professional players is a much better definition
No tournament will be as comfy as TI2
>there are people in this world who dont worship Saahil "UNiVeRsE" Arora as their lord and savior
you literally cannot be any more of a heretic
Yes, but I couldn't find any TI2 image saved
Because Europeans can live on neetbux and also have a more shut-iny life due to more population density and less freedom to move out.
On the other hand Americans don't get neetbux and welfare from whcih they can leech and practice with, in addition they have a more "free" lifestyle and go outside more often.
Firstly winter olympics is dumb because only a few countries even give a shit about it (read. the ones which actually play it and live in snowy countries)
Secondly, comparing per capita medals on the olympics is COMPLETELY retarded simply because you can only field a limited number of athletes. That means unless your population is ridiculously low you will always have a full team of some skill, and while bigger countries have an advantage due to a bigger talent pool, they suffer from a diminishing returns when compared on a per capita basis.
Comparing olympics on per capita is LITERALLY desperate, pathetic and not at all accurate.
>tfw no Purge bf
He's Finnish, so yeah.
I'd say that dota is better in terms of watchability, the first person viewpoint is much less optimal for spectating, the rounds get a bit repetitive and the hype has a better progressing of rising within one game.
On the other hand, those long bo5 are too fucking long in dota.
From the point of caster soap operas, dota wins flat out, they literally have esports big brother
>best game allows confirmed cheaters (flusha) to compete with several unconfirmed cases that are not investigated
>there will never be a twitch stream as awesome as EU couch
There is literally nothing sadder than caring about and discussing gookclick
