Amerindian reservations are some of the most depressing places, because you know that there's essentially nothing the government can really do to help them

Biologically, alcohol is more toxic to Indians and one of the most common causes of death on a reserve is liver failure. This is often inherited over generations, so the kids are almost assuredly going to be alcoholics, because there's almost nothing else to do on a bumfuck reservation.

So yeah, helping them is almost a futile effort.
