We mostly tried to solve things politically. Back when Poles knew how to think and outjew even the jews.
Cossacks of Ukraine were heavily infulenced by the Poles and Polish language. I've read somewhere that when Zaporozhian cossacks rebelled against Polish nobles and looked for help. When they tried to speak to Russian tsar, they couldn't understand shit and needed a few translators. That's how strong the Polish culture was. We didn't really care about conquering, it was mostly about survival of the Polish state, since we're in a shitty geopolitical position, mostly flat land. We could have tear Russia to dust, same with pretty much everyone, but we started to push our head into the ass even more and got shit on.
