I spoke a mixture of Japanese and English and ate almost exclusively Japanese food. My Mum would send me off to school with a Bento which she would get up at 5am to make and would always put little notes in it wishing me a good day and what not.

At school people would confuse what I was, I look pretty asian, but have a last name of Thompson. When I go to Japan, not even my own family really recognise me as like them, my own Grandfather refused to go to my parent's wedding in protest. In short, I don't feel Australian and have almost no attachment to this culture, while on the other hand I'll never be accepted as Japanese and feel out of place there. Fuck this bullshit

Yeah, I kind of miss it all now that I have moved to another city for Uni. She did it up until I actually finished High School, she refused to let me just eat something like a sandwich for lunch. It was a bit of shock moving away, not having her go out of her way to make my life as comfy as possible
