people were complaining about our high dollar destroying local manufacturing since 2008 when we had parity and the low dollar is being heralded as the reason why our unemployment stabilised and we're nearing 1m jobs created since liberals took office.
>>53850926 >now i just go on brazilian or russian websites and buy games there I remember steam cancelled Russians ability to trade games with other accounts or something because their games were cheaper. Are there sites out there that get around that?
Personally I think I'll just torrent and wait for sales for games that I enjoy unless it's cheap indie stuff.
>>53851184 It's kind of the same here, our manufacturing and tourism has really suffered but on the other hand now our oil industry is completely fucked which provides good paying jobs. Tourism and manufacturing are like minimum wage shit.
Also for every 1cent different with the USD, our food cost goes up 1%. So compared to when 1 CAD = 1USD our food costs 30% more which sucks.
>>53851219 Well I hope you guys are finding a way to deal with this since I think its been a while? Ours dropped too much recently so people are still freaking out and we elected a government that has a track record of can't into economics.
>>53851102 Mining boom crashed, China's economy slowed, our country had nothing to show after a decade of mining boom and our infrastructure still stuck in the 1900s because the Liberals were too retarded to actually tax rich people and companies, instead throwing almost all gains away on upper middle class vote buying.
>>53851196 >it makes our exports cheaper and more competitive.
What exports? Australia is a country of service workers, mining was always on borrowed time and agriculture will always grow due to population growth in Asia.
Australians are too conservative and too risk adverse to do Capitalism, it's why almost all investment money in Australia ends up in property leaving something stupid like only 150 million in investment in new businesses annually.

Our Agricultural, Mining and Education sectors which make our service sector sustainable. Asian university students for instance are one of the reasons why our education is relatively cheap.
>Australians are too conservative and too risk adverse to do Capitalism, it's why almost all investment money in Australia ends up in property leaving something stupid like only 150 million in investment in new businesses annually.
Its the same everywhere, the finacial and consturction sectors are causing trouble in all the developed countries.
>>53851336 >our country had nothing to show after a decade of mining boom I wish our countries governments didn't have financial incompetence as a shared trait.
Part of our problem was Conservatives put all their eggs in one basket during the 100 dollars a barrel oil boom. Now I think it's 29 dollars and we have no money. So now everyone is scrambling to try and invest in manufacturing exports or tourism.
