I lived in Ottawa for a couple of years for my studies and while there are some interesting museums most people would find it very boring. For those who like to party and go out, there isn't much in a way of night life in Ottawa (but you can head across the bridge to Hull-Gatineau for cheaper alcohol and take advantage of the lower legal drinking age).

Ottawa has a homelessness problem, and it isn't uncommon to witness people pan-handling/bumming around Rideau St. It is sort of depressing, seeing as we are a G7 nation and cannot even take care of our own.
