Come home, Aleman.
What? Credit card? Cheques? Stuffing money in your undergarments?
Buy Poe, his writing is really cool. If you like thrillers then you'll especially like the way he writes.
Go to Friesland, stay out of the ghettos when you go to Amsterdam, and if you hear someone speaking French or Arabic just slowly walk to the other side of the street
Meh, not bad. I've never been but from my experience it tends to be a less touristy version of Amsterdam, a lot of working-class people. Probably a lot of cool old architecture and history stuff, so if that's your thing you should definitely visit. And, of course, wherever you go in the Netherlands you should visit an art museum, even if you're not into art. The art museums are really nice there.
The must-sees are Amsterdam and Den Haag imho (I also think Friesland is a very nice place to visit but it's a very "middle of nowhere" type destination, so it's certainly not for everybody).
Well hey that works too, lol
>a lot of working-class people
my kind of people))))
Sounds pretty cool. I hope I can plan well enough to last a few extra days to visit those cities.
Also, how expensive is it over there compared to the UK?
> I hope I can plan well enough to last a few extra days to visit those cities
Do what you feel like doing, vacations should never feel too forced. That said, some of the greatest experiences happen when you force yourself out of your comfort zone, so if time permits I definitely recommend a trip to Den Haag, and maybe even consider Friesland.
>how expensive is it over there compared to the UK?
No idea, my guess is more expensive but you'd have to ask one of our resident Dutchies ITT.
You should read some Kierkegaard if you're into books that change your frame of mind, he's a Danish philosopher and he writes a lot about happiness and the meaning of life and stuff like that, a really good classic.
Well, I'm not really going on vacation, I'm just going there over there for a few days to meet with some people. But since I'll be over there I might as well look around and visit some places. Hopefully I'll be able to visit some other time and get to know the place, , since it seems i'll be visiting it a few times every year if things go well.
thanks for the tips senpai.
how much is that in petrodollars?
About 80 USD shipping and Customs would bring it
up to about 120USD
I heard of him before but never actually read his stuff, right now
I'm reading the Foundation trilogy by Asimov
going to Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, and Bahamas on a sailing trip as a graduation present from my father, what places should I hit up? also I realize I am a Cuban expat returning to Cuba on vacation, what is the likelihood ill be harassed?
I've been on a SciFi frenzy lately, I'll give it a try, thanks m8.
Speaking of SciFi you should watch Rick and Morty, it's a really good show. You can find full episodes on Dailymotion.
Heading to Nassau in a month on a dive trip lads. Got a day free to myself before the boat leaves. Anything you guys recommend?
watched it,the early episodes I didn't like but it
really grew on me toward the end.
you should read The last question by isaac asimov, it's
one of his short stories that should be online.
Walk around the town, relax at the beach, standard /carib/ stuff. Just relax m8, if you're into surfing see if they have any of that, if not don't bother wasting your day trying to learn.
Will do, thanks for the recommendations m8
Some EU4, plus a new game I bought called Kivi, Toilet and Shotgun.
I want to buy Nuclear Throne but I'm not sure if it's worth it
If it's anything like Jamaica you should be fine as long as you confine yourself to touristy areas like the beach and the surrounding shops. If you avoid ghettos and obvious scams you should be fine during the daytime.
Definitely seek the council of one of our Bahamians, though. I only went to Freeport when I visited the Bahamas, and that was before 9/11, so the trip for you may be quite different.
Leave these type of posts to Aussies or Canacucks.
I hope you learned your lesson.
> tips fedora
I learned that they do it for free
Here m8. I got another one of the same beach, have to resize it though.
what natural drugs do you have in your area?
We got Urk, which is a pretty closed community of orthodox protestants.
They are also part of the bible belt, which is a stretch across country with a lot of religious people. Think they are all protestants. We're catholics here in the south though.
Rotterdam is good to see. The city, especially the skyline, differs a lot from Amsterdam because Rotterdam, including parts of the port were destroyed by German bombers in WWII. So if you pay attention when entering the city you can see old stops and new starts.
So yeah, visit Rotterdam and Amsterdam. Amsterdam is probably more touristy and more things to do, most of the museums are there.
You can grab a boatride in the Rotterdam harbor to get a glimpse of the size of it. Go to Euromast for a view of Rotterdam. Close to Rotterdam there is Kinderdijk which is a series of Windmills (warning: lots of Chinese tourists here).
If you have the time, also visit Amsterdam, it will differ from Rotterdam. If you like museums, go to the Rijksmuseum. Also visit red light district and walk along the grachten.
If you want a taste of the Netherlands too, go to a Pannenkoekenhuis (maybe better to do this in Rotterdam and not in touristy areas).
I see, noted.
I just don't eat cheese because I try to avoid consuming animal products.
Sounds like a nice place. The person I'm visiting will probably show me around plenty of good places.
How many hours by train or whatever is it to get from there to Amsterdam?
This one is pretty nice, what sucks though is that the majority of beaches have resorts built on them. They can't own the beach, they have to let people through, but you can't use any of the facilities there if you're not staying at the resort.
>I try to avoid consuming animal products
I understand why,but I cannot do this
pic relates is best beach I know of
You need to get good!
Brah, the islands aren't what you think they are. You get away from the beautiful beaches and it's a third world shit hole full of people who, despite being well Into their 60's, still act like their in high-school. Everything is expensive, the roads are shit, health care is shit and the tourists are shit. I lived in the states for 23 years before moving here. Personally, I grew up poor so this place is just something I'm use to.
Like my fellow virgin was saying, it's pretty and there are some really cool things about living here but it's also kind of a shithole... at least here in the VI. If you like drinking and hanging out with (fellow?) degenerates it is easy to keep yourself occupied. Lots of loose women and cheap booze.
There are a lot of interesting people here but they are vastly outnumbered by self-important snowflake people. We call it Peter pan syndrome. It's like they moved here to spite their friends and relatives because they weren't happy with their own achievements. They get back at them by posting pictures of themselves sitting on a beach while they spend most of their time toiling in a restaurant sucking up to tourists.
It's not a big fun adventure if you think that's what it will be like. Then again I've lived here since I was a kid so I'm probably cynical about it all.
What if one is to be employed, say as a journalist or linguist? Can life be comfy in an island like Aruba or Sint Maarten (that is to say an island with not a ton of poverty)? If someone has already "made it" monetarily, would you say it's a good idea to move there? I'm introverted and enjoy doing shit that most would consider "boring", like walking around the beach and hiking, so keep that in mind.
I've met people that fit that description that are able to be happy here. You will have trouble adjusting. Trust me on this. It can be very rewarding but bear in mind that it's a small island and you will run out of trails to hike if you don't own a boat. The thing I like most about living stateside is that if I want to be in a new place I've never been it's relatively easy.
vote for whoever you think is less obnoxious

eyyy if anyone wants to try this, i saw it in another thread and thought it might apply here

sorry if my creole isnt good, its been a few years. I had a very bad time living in Haiti, most of you are truly horrible people.
>why Sint Maarten?
Dutch Caribbean is the best caribbean, also just seems like a nice island. Also I like the closeness of all the Antilles Islands, not sure how much I'd like living so far away from the main Caribbean islands in a place like Curaçao (also wouldn't care much for being that close to South America).
>why not Saint Martin?
I've been told it's much more shitty than Sint Maarten, also I'm not a fan of the French. And also the whole "Dutch Caribbean a best" thing.
Ik kan ook een beetje Nederlands spreken.
Better than expected
It actually kind of annoys me when Argies think that they're white, it's like when that annoying kid on the playground tried to play Pokemon with your group of friends.
Just accept that you're not white m8, this thread is basically /black/ so no judgement here.
>island honey is a thing it seems
Do you buy local honey or this shit?
>how can you say that? Caribbean blacks are some of the funniest mother fuckers(literal) on earth.

What's the best place to sail in the carribean?
Im getting a bareboat cert over the summer and want to charter a boat with some friends at some point. What countries/island chains have both good sailing and cool stuff to do ashore?
News here is only about rapefugees.
Curaçao's coastguard are on strike because they are getting threatened, the gov wants to allow them to keep their duty weapon after duty and some corrupt coastguards got arrested.
about to go generate some more bottles for these fine people to use.
Bumping to save the thread but also a very important question
How does it feel to be black on a board/website that can be incredibly racist?
Sometimes I feel like the only white man that doesn't judge people by their skin colour
I'm honestly not even Cuban. I was born in Cuba to two european immigrant parents (lithuanian and dutch), only hispanic in my family is my abuela.
