Not really. Only 16% of Russia's economy was oil or oil related in 2014.
Still, it's gonna be hurting out there. Maybe a 2% decrease this year.

But Oil's back to $29.5 senpai. Ride the bull to the top baby!

Lower currency = more money for exports = better economy

It's only a big problem if a country imports a lot of essential inputs, but since Russia has it's own natural resources and lots of farmland (biggest wheat exporter currently) it's not a big deal.

Same thing is happening in Australia, our dollar fell from $1.11 US to $0.68 in 2 years, most of the drop in the last 1 year. That's almost a 50% drop. Nobody is complaining, it's great for every export industry.

The only country that gets cucked in all this is the US
>>
>>53805309

Except Russia's exports are mostly oil.

Russia exports a lot of things, oil made up the largest value of exports due to it's overly inflated price, and as it's price has fallen, it will be squeezed by other exports, which will not make up a higher proportion of the total value. Due to a falling currency they will be more competitive than otherwise and more of them will be exported.

Yes but didn't you see what I said bro?

It's still only 16% of their economy, and after oil's crash the last two years, it's probably far less.

That means even a 70% drop in oil will only take out 8% of their GDP. But since the ruble devalued 70% they get the same amount of money in reality.

Their current troubles stem from investors and people losing confidence in the economy, not as much a real economic fall.

If you only consider oil producers and refineries and transit companies to be oil related then you may be forgetting their contractors and subcontractors, and industry that caters to demand made by employees of oil and related companies which will also suffer due to wage drop and layoffs.

My dad's wafe was 3k$ after taxes in 2014 and 1000$ now. But desu most prices didn't increase THAT much. Benzin costed like 33roubles for liter (1$=80rub), now it is 36. Aver. videogame for console costed 2000-3000 roubles, not it is 3000-4000. etc etc etc. But now finally we will have to create something besides oil and earlier or later we will have huge real growth so there will be incredible chances to start export business here in 5-10 years since when oil was expensive everything here was overpriced as hell, we had prices for everything like in Finland. Now everything is cheaper than in Poland.

How the fuck? In Finland you would literally have to go through dumbsters to survive through a month, you can't probably get an apartment for less than 100e/month and that's actually like 110 dollars so you'd have 35 euros left for consumption so 1 euro/d for food, electricity and water. My energy bill for last month, of which I was only half of the time at this apartment, was 10 euros. Water costs 10 euros a month as well. So after these deductions I have 15 euros a month for food so 50 cents a day. The cheapest macaroni costs like 30 cents/500g so if I eat a bag of that everyday I'll have 20 cents surplus daily, the cheapest grinded meat is like 2-3 euros a kilo so I can buy 2-3 of those a month.

Yeah, one could possibly survive but life would be quite ascetic. Doing manual labour would be tough as the input of calories into my body would probably be like maximum of 2000 a day.

You think those neanderthals actually want democracy? Take a look at how things were before the war in Ukraine, when Ahmetov basically created a party, which objective was to steal and hoard as much money as possible for themselves.

>>53818385
>Balts hate us because it was the only way to be friends with the west. More hatred towards Russia = you are pro democracy and freedoms.
Balts actually don't hate Russians if whink of my experience(except some legion vatniks, who are like we wuz nazis n shiet), but we are kinda cautious and never try to underrestimate what you Ivans might decide when drunk. Most of our relations were fucked up by stupid politicians, who thought that WE WUZ WEST YUROP NOW.

>>53816988
>doing nothing about hostile NATO-coups in neighbouring countries
It was Yanukovich who fucked things up. But what do you expect from a local hat thief?
The reason why all this started was that oligarchs were fed up with having to pay huge amounts of money to Yanuk for keeping their companies, factories etc. and even then they just had to hope that they get lucky andcan keep most of their shit.

There is some more modern anime about coups, color revolutions and oligarchy based on 40s manga and Metropolis movie, it's also called Metropolis.

>Russia will build infra.
Russia won't build anything. You forget that Russia is basically run by former KGB agents - soldiers, to put it simply. Unlike the west, which is run by businessmen, Russian leaders see economy just as a means to weaken their enemy. If western businessmen can come up with win-win situations, Russian leaders are with military mind - enemy must be destroyed at all costs.

>Crimea is a strategic port and has natural gas and a Russian population.
Crimea was the most criminal region in Ukraine. It's """""governor""""" Vladimir Konstantinov is even worser criminal than Yanukovich.

Also, Crimea is an unusual place even for Ukraine. For example, Yanukovich's friends' alcohol facory recieved financial aid from the state to increase it's products' competition.

The main income in Crimea came from tourists. A few years back, about 6 million tourists visited Crimea, 4 million of them were Ukrainians. I doubt that they are eager to visit Crimea again, considering the things that have happened recently.

Russia has better things to spend money on than some occupied territory they may lose during this decade. Also, since Crimea isn't self sustaining region, one of my friends actually calculated that Crimea will cost Russia 3 billion dollars yeary (twice as much as Chechnya) and that's the cost in the best case. Let's not forget greedy officials who are eager to steal some of it.

I just wouldn't expect some economic miracle from Crimea.

Also, west just cannot end the sanctions anymore. In 1994 they promised to guarantee Ukraine's territorial integrity in exchange for Ukraine to dismantle it's nuclear weapons.

>Fortunately American leadership is stupid as fuck.
I wouldn't say that. I think that Americans just can't understand Russians, Ukrainians and other people like them.

They still have at least some of their sovok-vatnik mentality(depending on the region). Americans just say it's butthurt belt talking and that's their biggest mistake.

>Do you actually think that any agreement would be reached?

I think it's possible, I don't know whether you know Finnish or not or if you can understand the following with just Beesti language skills but:

>You think those neanderthals actually want democracy?

People tend to want the best they can get. Democracy in some form is without argument the best way to govern a country. I find it unlikely that Russians/Ukrainians/Belorussians wouldn't want the best they can get.

Sovok-vatnik mentality is the result of living in the Soviet Union for a very long time.
People with sovok-vatnik mentality are basically mostly related to the biological trash that former Soviet Union members have to deal with.

They are mostly uneducated.
>Why would I want to go to school? Education is for faggots, real men work

For example, if you talk to a woman with sovok-vatnik mentality (from an actual interview in Horlivka, Donetsk):
>I hate the west, there are disgusting laws in there. For example, a woman can sue her husband for beating her.
>"So you want your husband to beat you?"
>No. I can kick his ass if I need to. But to rat on your husband, that's sick.

Also, regarding to the Ukraine conflict, they have created 2 truths.
1. Ukraine is ruled by faschists, supported by that jewish shit Poroshenko and the nigger Obama.
2. There are no Russian troops in Ukraine, but we sure as hell kick the faggot and nigger asses of the US and NATO in there

Basically, people with sovok-vatnik mentality live in the most abandoned and unimportant parts of the former USSR. And they live in there like they lived back in the soviet times.

We Estonians don't call Donetsk "Donbabwe" and Lugansk "Luganda" just for fun.

3D printing actually is shit for hipsters and geeks.
traditional crafting methods are still better
>>
>>53832706
Right now, yes. I was partly joking. "You wouldn't download a car" sort of thing.

It has potential for being a good alternative to replace odd parts from discontinued products. It would need to print in better material and not shitty but expensive plastic though.
>>
>>53832706

The technology is still pretty new and I wouldn't invest to any current 3D printing company, but it has the potential to become pretty dank.
First steam engines were inefficient pieces of shit you, give the printers 20 years and it might be a thing.

>>
>>53833647
It's how things go. Like how plastic and Chinese factories replaced lots of sturdy products made in Europe and North America.

People would rather buy garbage that falls apart then pay for something that could last for 20 years or more.
>>
>>53833647

Are there still a culture of craftmanship? According to my grandparents there were these small general purpose shops in pretty much every single city block and you could like get your bike fixed there or buy nails and hammers etc... Nowadays those stores have pretty much vanished.
>>
>>53833894
in moscow was three huge radio-markets, where you can buy parts and soldering something fun. but now most of them selling only household appliances and shit for smartphones. and i hate smartphones. pda and umpc was nice, but now we forced to use shit without tasks.
