How shitty modern art is viewed in your country?
Here in Germany idiot modern art is very accepted because of politically correctness. Hitler didn't like modernism, during denazification the allies forced Germany to swallow modern arts and buildings, that are mostly ugly and boring.
I respect modern art like 20s art (impressionism, cubism and etc). But today you expose your shit and people want to fotograph it...
Berlin 30s s2
Purely for hipster faggots. I honestly want to kill every faggot who "makes" modern art here, since it's a disgrace to our history of true painters and artists
Minimalist painting exist since a long time and it's kinda interesting as a concept
But why does artists make the same shit after 100 years ? that's the real question

Blessed are those who had not seen but yet believe
I guess some people like it, but most people think it is bullshit and a waste of money. Contemporary art itself was deliberately cultivated to deconstruct the idea of art and render the term "art" meaningless. So you shouldn't be surprised that most people hate it.
Postmodern approaches to virtually anything is trash. It seeks to overturn functional, working definitions of things like "art" and "history" for the purpose of giving talentless hacks a seat at the table.
its faggots like you that have made modern art so potent. Indifference would be a much more appropriate reaction but no, you see it as an attack and a crime making its rhetoric valid.
Haven't seen any in my town or area. There's a cute little gallery that has some nice scenic paintings but that's about it. I'm sure there's plenty of those pretentious fucks in Cork and Dublin though.
Does hyperrealism count as modern art? I can respect hyperrealism.
Of course we have crappy abstract art like everywhere else, but I believe "modern art" is too broad a concept to give an opinion.
It's very, very niche here. I personally at least haven't noticed any mainstream appeal.
I go to plenty of exhibits and most of them are quite interesting. Perhaps the gallery in my town is just more selective of what crap they allow to put on their walls.
It doesn't even have to be anime styled
i once went on a school tour in a museum in dublin and there was this """""""""painting""""""""" that was just brown and black squares
everyone in the class argued about it with the tour guide that it was a load of shite
you should visit us on /pol/ Kamerade :3
people unironically believe the whole point of modern art is to wash drug money and for various shady politicians to fund various shady organizations to do various shady things
all of a sudden you have a ton of legal money in your pocket, boom
>people unironically believe the whole point of modern art is to wash drug money and for various shady politicians to fund various shady organizations to do various shady things
Are you implying this is not the case?
Yeah but how do you explain "experimental" films.
Literally no budget piece of shits that pretend to be "deep".
Atleast with Hollywood you know you're getting sucked out of your cash on purpose.
Dunno if these classify as modern art, but I like them:
Modern art in the US is the same shit as everywhere else: edginess masquerading as genius.
When I was in Moscow, there was, quite literally, a black square canvas (with some subtle, slightly raised nondescript black shapes on it) labeled "Black on Black"
well I am a chemist (student), and they told me over there in schools I cant actually imply anything without the bird of proofs, the bird being an experiment or a phenomena or a piece of hard evidence 100% recreate-able 100% of the time in 100% the same conditions
I really wish I was some sort of a detective going around investigating stuff. Imagine the life, the excitement, the intrigue, the scandal... oh well.
A lot of people have no idea that art in the 1920s counts as modern art, that looks influenced by John Bauer.
What they think is modern art, is actually post-modern art.
You may like Harry Clarke.
>I'm an artist
Why? Do you think economies work on hobbies? Do you think your life decisions make sense? Do you even think art exists??? Everyone is a fucking artist. I can smear shit over a paper, and this would be art. So why are you special, and literally 7 billion of other people out there arent????
Doctor cant smear bandages all over a patient and call himself a doctor. Engineer cant smear a bunch of silicium and copper over something and call himself an engineer. A chemist cant smear a bunch of chemicals all over the table and call himself a chemist.
This is why these things are legitimate life choices, legitimate things to be. Dont be a fucking artist. Dont be a fucking shit smearer. Dont be a useless, unemployable cunt. Why would anyone think this is a good thing to do in life? Why would anyone think his personal hobbies matter?
I avoid "artists" like plague.
Hyperrealism is fucking boring.
It's the art equivalent of musicians like dream theatre or buckhead which are complete technical wankrey. Sure they're fantastic at painting, but my god it's so uninspiring and boring.
The problem people have with artists is the money they get.
Art really shouldn't have a price to it, to be honest. If it's emotionally invoking, then you should be able to appreciate it. I feel nothing when I see a lot of famous paintings that took lots of skill, but I feel something when it comes to simple stuff like Derek Setzer's work.
If art pieces had no actual price on them, people wouldn't care.
I really like some modern art, but a lot of it is garbage.
What bothers me is when there was obviously no effort put into the creation and presentation of a piece, modern or not.
I just dislike them because they think they are so special and valuable.... while in reality, in my reality at least, they arent. Artists get in my face and are all like 'eyo listen, you need my art more than you need air so you better respect me like I am a divine being' or something, that's the vibe I got from 'the artists' I met so far, so now I just avoid these people.
People I actually fucking need and people I would actually want to have around are doctors, engineers, scientists, and even farmers. I actually want their work. And these guys never even brag or are so self centered. They are pretty down to earth, dont bother if you arent into their work, and their work is basically what keeps you alive.
I really don't know much about art to be honest. I just see something pretty, and I like it. That's as far as I go.
But I'm more familiar with music. There are incredibly complex songs out there that are just fucking tedious to listen to, while something as Phillip Glass, Tides, or Low is so much better than the works of the technically talented Thomas Ades, Rosetta, or the American Misic Club.
You kids haven't seen the retardation that is modern art until you've spent six hours in the Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Great museum in every other sense, but holy shit is their modern art section the kinda shit that makes you consider suicide.
One of the pieces of "art" is, and I'm 100% serious, a string tied to a hook on the wall and tied to a hook on the floor.
Just a standard 45° angle triangle.
It's not even nice string. It's the shit you buy at craft stores.
Tons of other nonsense as well.
If you're ever in Indy and you want a trippy experience I highly recommend it.
How's it edgy?
At the end of the day, two pieces of art of just something emotionally or visually interesting. If the better looking one took 12 hours while the other took 12 weeks, I don't care. Hyperrealism almost always falls under the "Wow that's pretty cool and talented, but I don't really care for it" type of art.
That's true, it's all subjective. But with modern art, which typically is more minimalist, you have to be very precise with what you're using or it turns out looking like shit.
Sometimes people put too much work into something and it ends up being garbage too, for sure.
I guess so. It's definietly true for minimalism. There are some fantastic art, music and films out there with an emphasis on minimalism, but it got really trendy in the mid or late 00s, and now 90% of what's produced looks like uninspired shit
dont know much about art other than found in my videogames
I tend to like it if it contains A LOT of details, like if everything is really detailed and if it is trying to portray some glorious or sad or happy or some sort of scene like that, where motifs and emotions and things are really obvious and clear
I tend to stay away from the pretentious useless bullshit that 99% of art is, I just get nothing from it
>muh 3 squares or some shit like that
I can't even get through their entire albums without wanting to switch to something else.
Modern muh 3 squares is pretty dumb, true, but old stuff with Malevich and Kandinsky was important because we literally didn't know stuff regarding colour theory. So a bunch of simple art pieces were produced out of experiment to see how certain combinations evoke different emotions or perspectives.
Much like how minor music notes are deemed "sad", it took some practice to see what combinations make a piece particularly "sad".
Well at least this one has more to see than a fucking black square. This one has texture, and those craks actually have some kind of a shape.
I still dont like it but its something.
what a perfect example of bullshit I dont like
pic related is much better 2bh imo lads senpai
>his picture is a bunch of nothing
tabletop rpg's is where it's at, have a full folder of those
these are historical tho
>art is literally carving a stick into a smaller stick with scales
>literally we are talking whittling a stick into a pointed stick simple
>couldnt even finish despite how simple of a concept this is
>I mean literally how does this take more than one day's work
>complain about being put next to a significantly more complex sculpture
Modern art is garbage, but the guy who made that post is way more of the fucking problem than whoever made the skeet in face statue.
YOU LITERALLY COULDNT MAKE A STICK INTO A SMALLER STICK BECAUSE YOU WERE TOO BUSY CULTIVATING THE IMAGE OF A SHITTY FUCKING ARTIST
HOLY HELL IT MAKES ME SO MAD. PEOPLE USED TO TRAIN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES TO PAINT ACCURATE PAINTINGS OF PEOPLE AND NOW ITS REDUCED TO THIS GARBAGE ART IS SUCH A WASTE OF TIME DAMN IT ALL SHIT FUCK ASS
H.C. Westermann's work was just shown in NYC. Went twice. Got to see this one in person.
we like it,but not post-modern shit like your pic
Brancusi pretty much invented modern sculpture
