went to school with an older turkish dude and his wife. they were both super nice, their kid was adorable and they brought in delicious food to our one class all the time. It was a history degree though so both were super fixated on writing essays about the armenian genocide being a myth and the guy, Engin, kept bringing up Fethullah Gulen.

I think his dissertation was on Gulen too. Im sure they're both pretty well set up to get university jobs there and propagandize on behalf of the state.

The political situation isn't something I'm super fond of though, don't particularly support Isis or Erdogan's Nato-fueled brinksmanship.
