Are Emos extinct now? I remember when goths were a dying breed when I was 14
There's probably some stragglers in rural parts of the midwest, but yeah, I'd say so.
>I actually considered going emo when I was a teenager, but I felt like they were on their way out in 2008 so I never went farther than tight pants
we used to beat kids up on shows for those, good times
Now that scene is dead people are beginning to learn what real emo is
Never again will I explain that Sunny Day Real Estate is not the same kind of band as Panic At The Disco, what a time to be alive
Well for some reason they came flooding in to the hardcore scene at one point and nobody really liked their whiney shit.
Also girls falling for the long black hairstyle rubbed us the wrong way.
Well im talking about jet black hair and spiked swayed long haired girls who always had their eyes covered while they spent their day cutting themselves
Kind of girl
I dunno, im just getting carried away
I kinda miss the emo kids
They were cooler than the swaggots and their colorful moonstompers "bruh" bullshit that I see out here these days, that's for sure
And they could actually hold a conversation that wasn't about Fetty Wap and ditch weed "straight from Cali bro"
wearing colorful clothes isnt so bad. the problem is that the swaggots have an ugly sense of color and shit companies like nike produce too fucking many ugly ones like the image. and emos seemed to be shitter than them. at least their music tastes were beyond help.
emo is a very varied genre, but it's name has been compromised by MTV in the 90s and slapped on to shit bands.
emo is one of the most misguided genres and most people don't know what it actually is.
I hope they are. Most of the emos I knew were just attention seeking ADHD spastics. Almost none of them were actually depressed they just wanted a subset to fit into in highschool. Their music was shit and most of them transitioned in scenesters. One of the cringiest subcultures Ive ever seen. Glad I don't see them anymore.
It's funny because most of them were in it for the aesthetics of the movement and the attention it got. Of course there were a few that actually gave a shit about the music.
>tfw I was a skinny scene faggot who fucked skinny scene sluts all through high school.
Wish I could go back desu
This pure unadulterated garbage. Thrash and speed metal repackaged for edgy teens.
>dGw ich werde nie eine Emo gf haben
I was listening to Twenty One Pilots yesterday and saw that they are signed to the label Fueled By Ramen. Kind of surprised that label is still around but then again Fall Out Boy is too, and they are making music with Carley Rae Jepson.
I suspect the current niche is occupied by vape fags, but I have no idea what they listen to. Probably stuff like Tame Impala and Death Grips. I graduated high school in 2009 though and I don't know any 18-year olds so it's really just a shot in the dark.
Why? The scene girls were always ugly as fuck just caked in more makeup then you would think is humanely imaginable. They were easy because none of them had self-esteem. Maybe 1/10 was actually attractive with 3/10 being passable with layers upon layers of makeup.
This, Emo is a style of music that is compatible with many other genres.
Mathrock, Hardcore, Slowcore, Pop Punk, and Post-Rock are all styles of music that bands have managed to blend with Emo very well. My fav genre tbqhFAM
that list intentionally avoids kurt cobain to look like the genre ls deep and isnt for nomies but he and his band were/are the king of emo with no doubt.
and post rock wasnt relevant to emo at all. it has become a shitty backward genre since the middle 00s because of creativity bankrupts and its copycats flooding and maybe shit like my space but it was originated from a chicago experimental scene like thrill jockey.
