I hope they are. Most of the emos I knew were just attention seeking ADHD spastics. Almost none of them were actually depressed they just wanted a subset to fit into in highschool. I was listening to Twenty One Pilots yesterday and saw that they are signed to the label Fueled By Ramen. Kind of surprised that label is still around but then again Fall Out Boy is too, and they are making music with Carley Rae Jepson.

I suspect the current niche is occupied by vape fags, but I have no idea what they listen to. Probably stuff like Tame Impala and Death Grips. I graduated high school in 2009 though and I don't know any 18-year olds so it's really just a shot in the dark.
