Slovenia, Croatia and the bosnian muslims were itching for independence for decades. Heard of croatian spring? The constitution of '74? When the berlin wall fell and communism, the glue that held yugoslavia together, imploded, there was nothing that could have kept yugoslavia together, save for a large military intervention I guess. The slovenes, who seceded first, refused to accept any kind of federal solution, so there was no helping it politically.

Not sure if it plays any role but the resolution on Kosovo is still in place by the UN which considers Kosovo to be Serbian territory albeit under their (UN) administration. So from that POV it'll be as Albania annexing Kosovo, even if they are voting for it, just like the West sees it in the case of Crimea.

Albanians are people too (sort of). I think splitting Kosovo with Serbia would satisfy Serbians at least a bit, without antagonizing Albanians too much (and without "removing")! I think that would be a pragmatic and long term solution, but not many agree.
Bosnia is a different issue, muslims want a centralized state where muslims make the decisions and Serbs don't want that, they want out.

I could for example tell that Hasanovic would obviously be muslim/Bosniak. But I really don't know how Croats and Serbs differentiated each other. Croats have some surnames like Horvat or Novak but the majority end up in -ic, the same as Serbs. Some specific names like Josip, Karlo or Franjo are specific to Croatians and some would be specific to Serbs but I am pretty sure most are the same.
