Why is everyone shitting on Poland for purging its medias from politically biased journalists when the previous government purged all journalists that were anywhere near even somewhat close to PiS ?
>>
They (leftists, liberals etc) started believing to hard in their own vision of some totalitarian stalinism tier PiS demon so now that the party is in power they shat their pants
>>
>>53463171

I mean leftists, liberals here. I doubt anyone cares outside of the country.
>>
>>53463211
I care because every media here these days is talking about how PiS is taking control of the media and how perfect the previous government was and how stupid Pole Polishers are for getting rid of them.
We are in E.U. together so we have to stay informed in face of the propaganda.
>>
>>53462833
>they were scum so it's ok if we do the same thing too
PiSlamist logic
>>
>>53462833
>purged all journalists that were anywhere near even somewhat close to PiS ?
They didn't though. The guys voted by PiS remained on their stations years after PiS has gone away.
>>
>>53463266
The difference here is they actually passed a fucking law that lets them switch the CEOs of the public TV as they please. And then they shamelessly stated that they want it to basically serve the government interest.

Even if we assume that previous government engaged in same shady practices there was no actual proof, only assumptions.

Hence the EU wasn't particularly interested back then, while PiS basically served themselves on a silver platter.

Question for actual poles (not autists preferably): what is happening in your country pollitically right now and how it is handled by general popupous?
>>
>>53463436
In France they do the same thing and nobody cares.

A meteorologist was even fired by the Prez himself for saying that the big COP21 is useless.
>>
>>53463457
>what is happening in your country pollitically right now
National Conservative party (yes, the Smolensk kurwa one) won the general election after sitting for almost a decade in the opposition. Got the majority in the parliament even. As soon as they got into power they decided to double down, or rather, quadruple down on the whole ruling the country thing and started taking vital elements of our political system (first constitutional tribunal, now public media) under their boot.
>general population
Well, I personally know people who voted for PiS hoping they changed for the better after almost 10 years of getting completely BTFO in every election. You see, PiS was in power once, but they got booted out after just 2 years. After getting tired of getting its butt kicked at every step they decided to do some political lifting, put some new faces at the most representative positions (the current president and PM were literal who's before last years elections), blow some money on the campaign and bam, shit worked. And guess what, the party didn't change all that much, except they managed to grab some kind of eurosceptic vibe along the way (probably to diffrenate themselves from the previous ruling party, who was pro-EU to the point Donald Tusk became the CEO of European Council and is now earning mad dosh in Brussels). Needless to say many were disappointed, and are now slowly turning their support to other parties.

Sorry if tldr but that's really the gist of it
>>
>>53463471
You mean as soon as the party wins the elections they start putting their cronies in there? As I said this is the kind of shady political practice that happens probably in most countries around Europe. But as long as there is no tangible proof (such as a bill or a statement made by an important politican) nobody can really accuse your President of any bad intentions (especially since he apparently found a good excuse to fire that person). That's how it works, really.
>>
PiS are socialist. They're also nationalists driven by the urge to prove that they're polish not jewish/ukrainian/whatever.

Being a nationalist is not popular in EU right now so PiS gets the beating especially after the very "tolerant" PO rule.
>>
>>53462833
Because previously media did not tell the common pole that his democracy is being raped and that poland is putinizing or orbanizing.
I wonder why...

Although to be fair, doing actual reforms to ensure compliance of media is a notch above just replacing puppets through instruments already available. I do hope that Poles drop this retarded divisiveness and begin trying to find common ground instead. What they are doing now is in nobody's favour.

>>53463876
This is tiny bit dishonest in glossing over how the liberal party that held power for the ~10 years by itself spared no effort in demonizing its opposition, or how they illegally appointed a few judges in polish supreme court to keep their influence just before their mandate ended.
There are voices even now calling for moderation and reconciliation, but they are fairly weak.
>>
Basically, it's what >>53463876 and >>53465068
say. The thing is, PiS took control over public medias, maybe unnecessarily in such violent way, but it isn't anything new since 1996. Every ruling party did this (not that I support such actions). So it's really interesting how Europe became alerted by this and is crying about censorpship in Poland. It's really interesting, because private medias (even this most hostile towards government) are unharmed. TVN launches it's news, Wyborcza is available in every shop every day, and so on... BUT the previous government took over private newspaper Rzeczpospolita and turned it 180 degrees (it was conservative previously). Europe didn't seem to care. In 2014, when newspaper Wprost published transcripts from tapes recordings which showed how corrupted our pilitics is, special services moved in and took editor in chief's computer. No one seemed to care.

So be careful, as far as some actions of PiS are terrible, it's not as bad as it's presented to you. Don't think EU cares about polish media or polish constitutional court. Present government wants to impose taxes on biggest german shops and banks in Poland (which you would be surprised how many of them there is) and generally won't be that easy to be controlled.
>>
>>53463471
>In France they do the same thing and nobody cares
our previous government did it too and no one would bat an eye then. It seems like only leftist, liberal or socialist governments are allowed to do such things, when it's done by conservatives it suddenly becomes a threat to democracy and literally worse than hitler totalitarianism
>>
>>53463457
It's just attention whoring. Europe is mostly leftist now, so when a conservative party got majority, everybody is running head first to the cameras yelling how our democracy is being broken and others run head first to the cameras to shit on the former. We just can't cope with being a non-country and need to be mentioned because Polan stronk.
>>
>>53467869
This.

When our leftist party pro western did the same shit, no one cared and we got praised for being super tolerant by western Europe.

When the rightist party does this shit, everyone in western Europe is calling us nazi dictatorship. At least We got some pretty deals with China, and our relationship with Russia isn't so bad, as the current government doesn't give a shit about Ukraine.
