Went to an all boys catholic school and the canteen had almost everything you could ask for, craziest thing i remember them selling is imagine a meat pie then have it cut in half then placing the two halves placed in a french baguette, then having cheese and sauce on top of that, you could even do it with a Shepards pie, it was insane

We can buy kebab 50 meters from school.

school snacks for recess and lunch are a big industry, it's easier just to buy snacks and a bit of fruit and give the kid a few dollars to buy something from the canteen

when I was in primary school you could sign up and have the canteen send your kid a sandwich and box of juice at lunch for like $20 a month

Plastic trays are durable, cheap and stackable.

I went to school in one of the wealthiest school districts in america.
Alot of the food was standard lunch crap but we always had alternatives and extras that were pretty good.
We always had sweet tea, slushies, sub sandwiches, really good pizza and wings available along with what ever entree was in rotation.
Sometimes the lunch ladys would come up with something on their own which was usually really good. They did a imitation zaxby's kickin' chicken sandwich which was my favorite.
