>tfw stuck at a shitty state school
its a meme but there are very real social downsides to being at a state school. (as well as upsides)
My school is fuckin amazing. who /rollwave/ here?
also I am looking for an ID on this chick. i found this photo on /int/ a while back
>being proud of living in New Shitleans
>something is located in the South therefore it is shit and has no value
You must be such a well rounded and interesting person. Your job still sounds boring and stupid as fuck, but I know you'll love sitting in a basement all damn day typing numbers into a screen until you go blind at 40
Classes may be less fulfilling as their are hundreds of students per class.
You might have to wait 2/3 years to fully engage the material in a specialized course.
Because of the sheer amount of people there a re lots of organizations and niches. However, greek life will inevitabley overpower everything else and the social scene will revolve around that.
You will meet far more distasteful and stupid people than you will interesting ones.
I don't go to a state school so you may want to ask someone else. However, I do like to have a good time and don't mind the "Greek" scene.
>classes are less fulfilling
>waiting to engage material
Basically this. You have to put up with so much shit that private schools don't require you to do. State schools aren't terrible, they're just way less good.
Eh it seems you guys have "grass is greener on the other side" syndrome. It's aiight here
I enjoy it here because of the smallish class sizes and your professors and councilors seem to get to know you personally. It's very tight knit
There also isn't a lot of sjw types roaming around so that's nice
Uclas campus is quite beautiful though and I imagine Los Angeles has better weather than Tulane
That i require magnums when pounding your shemale mum in the arse? Maybe
Why would you want to name your society/club after gay sounding things? Here's an idea, if there's a mongolian knitting society, call it mongolian knitting society. Not fucking magenta khans.
What the fuck? Where did this come from?
It's mainly for people who like the sports, they use it for the mascots. I'm not sure if Europeans have mascots in the same way we do, I've only heard of the team names. If you do, what do you use for the costumes?
Whatever, family. You were probably never played team sports, or if you did, you were the whiny bitch what warmed the bench. I'll have fun seeing the gayness in your shitty little island of a country.
>University of Chicago
Used to be a part of the Big Ten, gave Gerald Ford his scar when he played for Michigan, and won the first Heisman trophy. Now we're a nerd school thanks to Hutchinson.
inb4 "WE WUZ ATHLETES"
None of the university teams has a mascot, why would you need one.
Literally everyone in the UK takes part in team sports. It's not like the US where chronic obesity means you can't get off your supersize mobility scooter.
>my tax dollars going to these spoilt foreigners' education
>my tax dollars
Wot? they have to pay full tution and get charged higher rates than all other students.
There cash cows for schools m8.
This. State universities should never have tried to become elite schools, it's just the opposite of what they should be for. I wish I could transfer out to a good private school but it's a bit difficult with grade deflation (instituted probably because of aforementioned foreigners)
We pay for the buildings and dorms and the institution with our taxes even if they have to pay more. There should be a 2% cap on foreigners.
>Why would you need one
I don't know, it's just an American sports culture thing. I guess that answers your question about why we have so many universities known as the Fighting Trojans
>“Absent additional funding, UC is not in a financial position to absorb more California students beyond those we currently serve. As such, campuses have been instructed to keep their enrollment of California students flat, meaning that we are not in a position to add additional California resident students for whom there is no additional state support," Napolitano told an Assembly budget subcommittee on education finance.
This is why UC schools try to attract out of state and foreign kids m8. They pay 2-3 times what Californians do and your state spends too much.
Suchs having so much spics
Hyde Park (the immediate neighborhood) is a really nice neighborhood that could pass as its own college town nested in Chicago. The area surrounding that, however, is classic South Side.
>only a student because of free monies and discount living and meals
>don't really give a shit about the study matter
>will never be employed
and will be like this until I'm like 32
I'm looking at 100k for four years, where are you going?
Yeah, but it lets me live a NEET lifestyle without being judged and I get 4000 a year because I have so much extra scholarship money. I think it's ok
>tfw postgrad and don't have to deal with stupid undergrad SJWs
I was accepted into Berkeley for EECS but chose to go to my state school, University of Washington, because it was still a top 10 CS school and because I didn't want to deal with the 50K per year price tag. Sometimes I wonder what could've been though. What's it like over there anon?
