So /int/, which nation is better once and for all?
Which would you rather live in/be from? (Don't be a smartass just pick one)
The United States of America
>more relaxed gun laws
>higher earning potential for very wealthy
>more diverse climate/biomes
>more pervasive culture as far as the world is concerned
>freedom (despite the fact that Canada actually scores higher in the freedom index)
>limited socialism, free market capitalism
The Dominion of Canada
>longer lived and healthier
>score higher on virtually every metric possible related to quality of life
>better at hockey (best on earth Tbh)
>closer to European lifestyle
>arguably most underrated nation ever
>slightly bigger dicks supposedly
Well, I'm a dirt poor student trying to become rich, and since Canada currently has a higher level of upward mobility, I think Canada's better.
If I end up with a brilliant idea that can generate a lot of wealth, then my opinion would change in favour of the USA, since it seems to attract a ridiculous amount off millionaires, who seem to dictate the country's policies.
>needing to pick which is better
>not being a patriotic north american
doesn't make it a better place to live in/be from
>more relaxed gun laws
one again, this is a bad thing in the eyes of almost everyone on Earth except most Americans
>higher earning for the wealthy
why would you want the minority of the population to hold the majority of wealth?
just gonna ignore that autism
the USA doesn't have its own cuisine, hasn't been around long enough
fair enough if its true (not sure if)
fair enough but not the only one
though this may be true, completely irrelevant when deciding to live there
It really depends on who you are.
If I'd be rich, had a great business idea or would want to start a career in the entertainment industry (movies, tv shows, music, porn etc.), the US is definitely the better place to be.
But as an average, normal middle class guy, Canada seems way better (minus the weather, I like winters, but Canada really goes overboard with that shit)
>more relaxed gun laws is a bad thing
I will never understand this, do people just not trust themselves with guns? Unless you are an island guns will get in criminal's hands anyway, so all gun control does is take guns away from law abiding citizens. And if you are an island like Britian or Australia then murder rates stay the same, the murder weapon just switches to knives.
also burgers is an American food and burgers are amazing
I'm still bitter over my stay in America.
Why the fuck is treating a small injury so fucking expensive over there? Plus over 500$ for an ambulance ride? Canada and America really are dimensions apart.
Oh wow, only -22°C, that's great, almost t-shirt weather!
Seriously though, winters like this happen here once in a decade or so, how the fuck do you people deal with this every year?
It was +7°C throughout the day here today btw
>fall flat on your face like a fucking retard
Tbf, the guy who invented the Hamburger in its American form, was a German immigrant in the US
The original Hamburger in Hamburg was basically just a sandwich, didn't really have much to do with the version it became
>murder rates stay the same
where the fuck are you getting this imformation from??
American murder rates per 100,000 people is 16 compared with the world average of 6, European average of 3 and British average of 1, fucking 1
This version is at least.
Layer up when outside and stay inside as much as you can while drinking alcohol and consuming anti-depressants since the sun never shines, bud.
Also, I used to work for 3 hour periods doing door-to-door sales in -30. I pissed myself twice and the piss froze to my leg while my hands were frost bitten. Shit was so cash.
Rich and live in USA, born in Canada
Rich and live in Canada, born in Canada
Rich and live in USA, born in USA
Poor and live in Canada, born in Canada
Poor and live in USA, born in USA
>Pitting the two greatest nations against each other
i mean banning guns doesn't actually correlate with an overall lower murder rate in a country. Britian and Australia's murder rate didn't actually drop much if at all when they basically banned guns, the gun murders just switched to knife murders.
Different countries with different amounts of cartel and gang problems.
also notice I said in a country, I meant that if a country litearlly bans guns/makes it extremely hard to own one like Britian, their murder rates do not drop as they just transition to knife murders. If the US were to ban guns here and there magically wasn't a revolution against it the murder rates would stay exactly the same and I would get news reports on mass stabbings in X school.
do you really believe you can do as much damage with a knife as with a gun?
the guy could maybe manage to stab 2-3 people, but then somebody will easily overpower him
not that easy when he has a gun
>Drinking outside in the cold
The ultimate comfy. Simultaneously being warmed by your clothing and being cooled by your drink of choice. I live next to a man who sits on his porch every single day regardless of weather and smokes a cigar.
His point is that criminals don't use legal guns
For example, over 80% of the guns used in crimes in Canada come from the US illegally, and the rest are illegally owned or stolen from Canadians. Gun owning Canadians are more trustworthy than any other kind of citizen, because they're subjected to police background checks to legally pursue their hobby.
It's like the rest of the world isn't even trying Tbh
individually guy with knife v guy with no knife almost always has knife win
Mass stabbing would happen exactly where mass shootings do, in schools where everyone will be weaker than the knife guy because women (which most teachers are) can't overpower men (which most mass murders are) unless they are bodybuilders and students are almost always very very weak.
mass shooting means 4 or more people killed at once
the mass murder statistics you hear about the usa makes it seem like we live in a war zone but those statistics are inflated due to gang related violence (gangs use illegal weapons).
spree killers that attack school are actually rare, yes they happen here more than other countries but they happen at an incredibly low rate. the media just inflates them because fear sells so they try to play it up that its a big scary thing that can happen to you.
