Merlin has 3 engines, it's a big plus

It gives the helicopter terrific endurance, it can stay out for long periods of time and more importantly it can keep going if one of its engines is taken out.
This endurance is why Merlins are used by the Royal Marines (Mk3) in addition to the Royal Navy (Mk2)
