I live in Baltimore. It has its seedy parts but overall its a very nice place to live. Only an hour away from the vastly superior Washington DC

The reason why there are so many black people in Baltimore is because it was the main slave port in colonial times. They have been here forever, its really not nearly as dangerous as you would imagine. Just keep your shiny new car out of shitty areas you have exactly no reason to be in in the first place and youre fine.

I think I'm making a horrendous mistake

Baltimorefag here, it's good in some ways but bad in others.
The beer, music, night life and art scene are all great. The city itself is beautiful in many places, though admittedly fuckugly in others.
Public transportation is pretty good, which makes up for the awful racket they run on parking at the inner harbor, which has a lot of stuff.
There are a lot of troglodytes, but on the whole they fuck with each other and not you. Odds are good you'll never be messed with unless you go to the wrong parts of town, but they have nothing of worth so you have no reason to go there anyways. That said, never stop walking if someone tries to make you. That goes for white people too. They will want money.
There's like ten colleges in the city, which means qts to fug but also tonsa hipsters.
Most people who have some money and a car opt for living in Baltimore County, which is nice suburbia, and driving to the city when they want to.

My main issue with the place is that it's a city full of semiSouthern blacks yet they have no FUCKING Bojangles.

I'm from Essex, which is like five minutes outside of Baltimore. Place fucking blows but I have a house in the backwoods area with actual land and not just a shitty townhouse. Pretty comfy aside from the crime. Good place to go crabbing down the street.

I unironically like the Maryland culture but I have the urge to curb stomp every leaning nigger at the bus stop and will probably build a fence around my property when I'm out of the military and the house is in my name.

Baltimore city however is just as bad as the Wire describes it.
