Who is your countries worst ruler in history? As either head of state or head of government.
For us I would have to say either Anthony Eden, Neville Chamberlin or James Callaghan
George III wasn't great, but he was no Tsar Nicholas.
When learning history I used to think Henry VIII threw away the good economy of his father, and it was his brother who should have ascended.
But now I know Britain goes up and down, and the Protestant split might have helped in the long run.
Chamberlain's reputation is worse than he deserves. He had a difficult situation to deal with, and he managed to re-build the British military in time for the new war
Eden was shit though
Nicolas II and Yeltsin.
Eden was PM during the Suez Crisis
Chamberlain appeased Hitler
Callaghan was PM during the Winter of Discontent. After he lost his election to Thatcher, Labour were out of power for 17 years
I imagine how the world would be different if he had listen Bismarck...
Why? I read some time ago about brazilian crisis, you had a huge inflation and unemployment in the 80's and 90's, much greater then your currently crisis.
Who was in power during this decades?
Why Cromwell? Sure he started a ridiculously complex civil war but he set us up for success. Everyone who wasnt protestant and pro monarchy got blown the fuck out and we out jewed the netherlands, our main jewing competitor. They got wrecked so bad that we took all of their economy and empire except indonesia. All that was left to do was to have competent rulers and we did.
Cromwell was no fun allowed, maximum Puritan. He also made relations with Ireland worse than they should have been by overdoing it a little (to put it mildly)
However he was a very skilled military leader, in fact the British Army is based on Cromwell's New Model Army. And the stuff anon mentioned >>53277750
>They got wrecked so bad that we took all of their economy and empire except indonesia.
Literally still the richest nation in the seventienth century. Then Cromwell gets btfo and the Stuarts (who were allied to the Dutch) got back into power. But the eternal Anglo struck again and tried to gang up on us with France, but got btfo. Then the Dutch overthrew the Stuarts and installed the House of Orange-Nassau.
I do know, but that's irrelevant. The claim that England defeated the Dutch in the seventienth century is just blatantly false. Throughout the 18th centry the United Provinces were richer than Britain. Only after the industrial revolution did this change. Even know we're richer.
Its long debated whether Castro or Batista is worse but in all honesty there is very little difference between the two regimes, but rather how international politics sculpted their character. Batista was a silent killer, he had the same human rights violations in place, although because he fared well to Americans he is not remembered as the ruthless dictator he was. Castro on the other hand initially freed the people, he was a hero, and the only reason Cuba isnt democratic today is the sole fact that the USSR backed Castro and the US backed Batista. When it comes down to it, Cuba was ultra dependent on its allies and basically assumed political preference in such regards.
In absolute size it is, yes. The GDP (value of goods and services produced in a period of time) of India is more than Belgium. So the Indian state has a larger economy at its disposal than the Belgian state.
That's true despite Indians being much poorer than Belgians
Probably this walking meme but he legalized weed so gun salute
Collor. Collor by far. Whoever says Lula was the worst has to be some teen born in the 2000's. Collor wasn't good for nobody.
Not even close.
Jânio Quadros, without a contest. Crazy nigger accidentally the whole fucking country in less than a year with his shenanigans.
