THANKS WEEDMAN YOU PIECE OF SHIT.
24 years of our independence is wasted
we didnt built production, industry, education
we are oilniggers
oil's $35 a barrel
all the oil sands investments have evaporated. there isn't a safety net for this. unfortunately the damage is about 50% hysteria, because oil's influence in our economy is overvalued -- it makes us something like 4% of our GDP, so it's not actually that important on the whole.
while I agree with the sentiment, Harper was the one that decided we needed to export so much oil. It was like 20% him, 80% the Saudis. Either way Trudeau had literally nothing to do with it except get elected just as the negative effect of our dollar crashing started to outweigh the positive effects of cheap gas
It's going to keep dropping. They're predicting oil will stock under 50 dollars a barrel for a year or two. Many companies can't make money unless it's over 50 and oil is where most of our countries wealth comes from.
We're in for a hell of a ride and accumulated national debt. But don't worry, we'll be spending money we don't have on muslims so they get everything free while our people commit suicide. :)
>pls end the suffering
Put Alberta out of its misery
>Harper was the one that decided we needed to export so much oil. It was like 20% him, 80% the Saudis
It wouldn't have anything to do with $100 dollar oil that creates a massive boom no it must be le evil harper. I didn't vote for him but thats r/canada tier thinking
I wouldn't call it hysteria. The oil companies literally can't make money at most of their wells right now. And since it's a non-renewable resource there's no reason to keep them running to get negative profits. Better just to shut them all down, do mass lay offs, and wait for the Saudi's to stop flooding the market.
Well, Liberals have always been bad for the oil industry. I think that has more to do with taxes and talking about taxes that scare away the jews.
Many of the workers here are from other parts of the country. Loads from Eastern Canada where there are no jobs. It's still the most stable province debt wise but we'll probably eat some debt for the next year or two then pay it off when things improve.
>I can finally purchase a hudsons bay blanket without going bankrupt
WHOSE COMFY NOW BITCH
I swear to g*d I know more about the Canadian economy than Canadians.
You're all air headed retards.
>blaming Trudeau for the low dollar
How fucking stupid can you get?
Why didn't Harper expand the economy in his 9 years?
Because he was fucking shit
That has nothing to do with anything, nigger. It's the oil dollar. Other oil countries are suffering as well -- we were just particularly unprepared from going from 100 dollars a barrel to 35 dollars. Saudi's flooded on purpose to damage our oil industries.
I'm not saying Harper intentionally wanted to cause this. It was a good idea until the Saudis decided to dick over everyone who can't make a profit on $50 a barrel oil, which isn't just us, it's Russia, and America, and dozens of other countries too
demonstrate please, Abdul
You yourself have demonstrated it with your lack of analysis and evidence in your first post and a lazy reply in the second after being prodded.
Please stop embarrassing yourself, I am ashamed to call you a fellow countryman.
Holy shit it's like some african currency or some shit
By then it will get to the point where the metal the coins are made from and the polymer in the notes will be worth more than the value on them
I think he's just attempting to troll or actually some edgy son of a middle manager.
Not disagreeing. I'm sure there's been attempts to screw them over the Saudi's but clearly it hasn't worked. Our countries would have to get off oil almost completely to fuck over their economies. They don't care about their people so they can afford to flood the market.
>bigger cities that immigrants go to
Pretty good, there's such a high rise in property values that people are using a bunch of services
Bad, no resource jobs.
This country's demographics are just fucked. The baby boomers were born to a generation where women would have 5 kids, now the average woman has 1.6. The government has no way to pay for the healthcare, and immigrants make less than Canadians, but take as many services. We'll be like you guys, only colder in 20-30 years.
I want to stay on the ride and I want it to spread. I want the world to burn and I want that burning to have a hint of burnt maple syrup to it.
>You yourself have demonstrated it with your lack of analysis and evidence in your first post and a lazy reply in the second after being prodded.
I'm not even the first guy you responded to, but use more buzzwords
>international outcry against Russia over the Crimea
>Saudis massively increase oil production to hurt Russia, which ends up conveniently hurting anon whose oil is more expensive than theirs
this was like a year ago dude, if you can't remember that far back you should go to the hospital
>but take as many services
They take more. I even hear temporaries bitching when they can't access some Canadian services they don't need. Many I've met even eat at homeless shelters, not because they can't afford food but because they don't want to spend their own money on food.
Weedman confirmed for niggertier politician
The glut of oil from OPEC was for 3 reasons.
1) Hurt Russia
2) Hurt Iran
3) Slow emerging fossil-fuel markets in places like the US
They killed several birds with 1 stone. Ingenious. It can't go on forever, but they've accomplished their objective thus far.
>the world will never see a financially competent politician that is also on the proper side of social issues
>to hurt Russia
Pretty sure it was more to hurt production in other countries, Russia included. Like the US was ramping up production with fracking and off shore drilling. Now most of those little Mom and Pop type companies have shriveled and died or closed up because they can't afford to operate. There was a lot of news saying the US wouldn't need to rely on foreign countries, specifically the middle east for oil as much if they kept going so some have speculated it was a sabotage thing. Saudi's have no reason to do sanctions against Russia for Crimea thing anyways.
Yes. Tourism spikes when our dollar falls this slow. It hasn't been this low for about a decade, which was when we had our last American tourism boom.
And just don't be an annoying
>I'M FROM AMERICA
and everyone will gladly take your loonies.
>Pretty sure it was more to hurt production in other countries, Russia included.
officially, it was done as a show of support for sanctions against Russia, but in reality it hurts every country with an oil economy that isn't Saudi Arabia
If he's American, he probably wears this while abroad, says the pledge of allegiance in the direction of the Statue of Liberty 9 out of 11 hours each day, and when he sees a large predatory bird, he weeps a tear and whispers 'God Bless America'
American card don't have chips in them. They still use magnetic strips like it's the late 90's, or she probably thought that the idea of money stored on a bit of plastic might blow the simple Canadian mind
His party will probably just ignore the problems, talk about "refugees" and spend money we don't have on programs we don't need that fail to launch. Usual government shenanigans.
That's why it was embarrassing -- she outed us as Americans at the same time she asked a stupid question because why wouldn't they take them. I mean not that it matters that we're American, it was a touristy area, but fuck why did she have to do it while sounding so dumb
>shipping from US sometimes costs as much as the item I'm ordering
>now everything is 30% more
fuck buying things in a legitimate method I guess
>actually being weaker than the USD (United States Dollar)
I've only seen US flags at embassies or on 9/11 out of respect. Could be if it works. Sometimes if an American owns a business they'll put up their flag. Other nationalities do that here too though.
So-so. It's good news for some industries like tourism or manufacturing but bad for everyone else.
Many grocery stores for example get bullied into buying products from certain companies or else they might not supply something during the off growing seasons. It's a problem because if the farms that company owns are all in the USA when this happens our food prices go up. Local organic stuff kind of stays the same I think.
mostly people are talking about Toronto or some other populated border towns in the welfare side of Canada when they say that. we're a massive country and the main cities with infrastructure are the most populated. Everyone else is pretty spread out in the no-job zones.
>apartheid was a bad thing
Nice to see the rainbownation doing so well
I can't get my mind around why exactly they don't have chips. Why not include them on all new issued cards and renewals as a slow phase in like was done here for the contactless cards?
It wouldn't surprise me, some businesses do it here in towns near yank airbases.
Pandering to seppos is a very old practice, why do you think the Thunderbirds were all American characters even though the programme was entirely British?
Canada is bizarro land, for the most part we don't give a shit about pandering to Americans because we think we're better than them. Not exactly subtle about it either so it triggers the occasional American and you hear the smug Canadian meme. It's kinda true though. More likely to see your flag
Seppo is a derogatory term used to describe Americans.
Because they are called Yank. This rhymes with Septic Tank (Saostuskaivo, saostussäiliö eli sakokaivo). This was shortened to Seppo.
>More likely to see your flag
Yeah just travelling, only been to parts of England and Scotland. Love them both, /int/ memes exaggerated a lot about the amount of Muslims I'd see. Never told me about all the Spaniards and Italians though
>Never told me about all the Spaniards and Italians though
Thought it was tacitly implied that Europeans would be here, Nearly as many Poles have moved here in 10 years as Indians in the last 70-100
Obviously but, there are so many Italians. Way more of them than slavs or Muslims. They are nice but fucking weird. Alot of qt Italian women, who honestly saved me quite a bit of money because they insist on cooking for people in the hostles they don't even work here. Thank God too because the pound is kicking my dollars ass
>there are so many Italians
Are you in Bedford or something?
>Thank God too because the pound is kicking my dollars ass
I felt the same way when I visited my family in Ontario. Though maybe I was spoiled by time I spent in Texas before flying out...
>Americans ruin the world economy in 2008
>Cons mismanage the economy for 8 years
>US and Saudis conspire to drop oil prices world wide
>It's totally the guy whose in power for 1 month's fault
Edinburgh right now, mostly Spanish and Chinese here. When I was in London and Canterbury there were boatloads of Italians. I'm not the only one who noticed there are lots of Brits living out of hostels on long stay because the Italian qts and food. Yeah I have family here too on both sides but lost contact.
Oh so why did they not do it in February or March? They waited till Nobember to start producing more.
Oh and it has nothing to do with US fracking soaring our production to 12 mil a day when oil was $100 a barrel?
OPEC made their decision for one reason. Market share. They give 0 fucks anout Russia in Ukraine.
