I'm in IT for a major corporation and the work can run from 40 to 50 hours per week depending on scheduled installs and call outs. OTOH have four weeks paid vacation plus all federal holidays per year.

10 hours a day for 4 days out of the week. Usually end up without 3 hours of OT per week.

3 days off is pretty sweet.

my parents with only high school work 8 hours, like most of the people. i am a college graduate and work 8-10 and often 12 hours.
those with doctorates spend their whole days at work, but its a lifestyle at that point.
