Chinese major here. Different languages have different amounts of demand for them. It may be helpful to get a master's degree in translation or interpretation as well. MIIS (http://www.miis.edu/) for example, I've heard is a well-regarded grad school for people who want to go into translation/interpretation.

What do you mean, no lessons/tuition?
I teach myself Japanese and Spanish using books from the library/online resources/language exchanges. Once you get into the habit of it it seems like a waste of money to pay for lessons.
