How to Learn Japanese
100 most common Japanese words
Please declare before making a new thread, and put the next link.
Pine branches thing is a Japanese tradition, right? To help souls of passed away relatives find their way home.
Or is it a mix of European and Japanese traditions?
I'm mainly interested in the fact that precisely pine is used.
Trying to find a way to decrypt files for the game アイドルマスター2, are there any Japanese communities for game hacking?
I found this, but these fuckers won't share how to do so, and only keep the information to themselves to make shitty ecchi videos.
I don't think it really counts, but I like Kazuo Ishiguro novels (who's Japanese, but writes in English) - especially Never Let Me Go and Remains of the Day.
The only Japanese novel I've ever read is Welcome to the NHK. I'm going to read No Longer Human soon though.
I'm OP but I hope this thread will be pretty good one.
>Welcome to the NHK
how is it? meant to read it a while ago but havent gotten around to it yet. the anime is top tier of course
ive heard of ishiguro but never read him, his newest novel sounds quite interesting though
you'll enjoy no longer human. though part of the reason i asked is because i obviously read the english translation, and though it was good, it didn't blow me away in the manner you'd expect a classic of japanese (or any nation's) literature would. i'm sure that's due to what's lost in translation. the title 'no longer human' is even considered an imperfect translation by many.
have you seen the aoi bungaku version?
The British-Japan liaison looks very different today.
According to wiki it's " placed in pairs in front of homes to welcome ancestral spirits or kami of the harvest."
What I was wondering was is it just a coincidence that both in Europe and in Japan pine used in New Year's Eve's decorations.
Welcome to the NHK is better than I thought it would be as a novel. It's very short though, so it doesn't include nearly as much material as the anime or manga, but it has quite a unique tone compared to both the others. It feels a lot more depressing, and the characters seem a lot more batshit crazy.
>have you seen the aoi bungaku version?
I've downloaded it, but haven't got around to watching it yet. I was trying to read the novel first before I watched the abridged anime adaptation, but I might end up gettign too impatient for that.
>How do Japanese think most westerners view their country and culture?
>How do Japanese want westerners to view their culture?
I just want them to find something interesting in our culture.
>you an anime nigga or nah?
Wouldn't be in the Japanese thread if I weren't 2bh.
Okay... it's hard to explain as the other guy said.
But to me, for some reason, the word kuchiduke has classy romantic touch to it.
When I kiss something intangible like 'hearts', 'gods', 'fate', etc. the word kuchiduke goes better than kisu...but not always.
>How do you expect Japanese think European culture compared to American culture?
I think Japanese idolize Paris in particular, which can be very disappointing when they visit.
I think Japanese respect Germans for their work ethic, and view British as gentlemen.
They probably know Italian food as well.
I think they regard Americans as less well-mannered and cultured than Europeans.
>How do Europeans want Japanese to view their culture?
The majority of people here does not consider how others view their culture.
I think I would like foreigners to view the Dutch as cunning sailors and tradesmen, who managed to carve out a large empire in the colonial period despite our small size.
I would also like people to know of the Dutch painters.
I couldn't speak for the other European countries.
Do t be ashamed, their are a lot of stupid things about the English language and inconsistencies.
The letters C and X are completely useless.
>There, their, they're
>to, too, two
Too many illogical nuances.
>Read rhymes with feed
>Read also rhymes with fed
So it's not something easy to explain, huh? I guess if someone asked a similar question about English it might be hard to explain something like nuance as well. Don't worry too much about your English, Anon. Just take a look at my shitty Japanese
I did get the impression that it seemed like more of an elegant word.
Learned a new word.
Anthologies, supernatural and horror series (like Yami Shibai, Parasyte, Tokyo Ghoul, etc.). Problem is, there isn't really enough good stuff in that genre, most are either 2edgy4u or just plain crap, like Elfen Lied or Another.
Always plenty of moe stuff to go around though.
That stereotype always makes me laugh because of how untrue it is nowadays.
As an American, everything outside America is unknown to me. We have 50 different territories, a lot of which are bigger than many European countries, with differing political views, cultures, religions, etc and only two countries that border us.
I could drive 10 hours straight through Texas and still be in Texas, dying form the heat, while a few states away people are being bombarded by snow storms giving them a foot of snow each night.
Thanks for your reply m8. (I don't know which language is convenient to you between Japanese and English, tho)
It's interesting you mentioned Dutch painter. ''girl with a peal earring'' is really popular and famous in Japan. When the picture came to National Japanese museum in Tokyo, I went to see it there and wait for almost 3 hours to watch. 2bh, my image of Netherlands is full of with tulips and windmills. Have you ever heard about ''house tembos'' in Kyousyu in Japan?
>supernatural and horror
maybe try perfect blue and paranoia agent if you havent already? youve probably seen serial experiments lain but that sort of covers the genre too, in a more roundabout way.
>We have 50 different territories
You have 50 states and 16 territories, or 66 "territories" if you insist on using that word for states as well
Several years ago, I often saw you guys uttered words about Japanese traditional culture, like "samurai!! Mt.Fuji!! bushido!!" etc
I guess you love to watch hentai videos and animes rather than sumo and kendo today, dont you?
Anyway, if you like things concerning Japan, I'll welcome even homo淫夢.
C and X (and Q and J and whatever else you want to include) may be useless orthographically, but they're also important for historical reasons and they make the language look prettier in writing.
"Goose/geese" is not illogical, it's an example of an apophonic plural, whereby the word's plural status is marked by changing the vowel sound. They are plentiful in the Germanic languages (with /o/ usually mutating to an "ai" or "ee" sound in English).
We should not be mean to English phonology.
>How about legal prostitution, soft drug, and euthanasia?
We have this reputation, which some people view as degenerate, but we regard as common sense.
When we make laws like that, we consider the effect. We'd rather be able to oversee trade in drugs and prostitution than drive these people into doing crime. Outlawing either has proven not to be as effective, we simply consider the effect instead of the principle.
I think many people view us as degenerate because of these laws, which I don't like of course. And we were only the first to adopt them, now many western countries have laws with similar freedom to ours.
Yeah. Sometimes radical approaches are more effective to solve problems. And Dutch people are not afraid to do that. Your country seems to have the good balance between freedom and the responsibility that comes with it.
I heard they accepted like a whole 11 refugees.
I don't think Aussies are good banter, but British are, for sure. As for me, their bantz culture is already sophisticated, sometimes too much and too tricky. But I like it, because mostly they are not harsh.
(I don't know which language is convenient to you between Japanese and English, tho)
>Have you ever heard about ''house tembos'' in Kyousyu in Japan?
>I guess you love to watch hentai videos and animes rather than sumo and kendo today, dont you?
Not me, I'm more interested in sumo and kendo, even though you'll probably never believe me seeing as we're on 4chan.
>tfw you're on interpals and girls write about wanting a "British gentleman" in their profiles
If you use どうでもいい it means I don't give a shit and it sounds rude, you'd better say どっちでもいい。
yes, it's in Kyushyu, Nagasaki. and many of Japanese have the image come from the town ''house tembos''.
anyway, I'm a big fan of フェルメール and he is really popular and very famous in Japan. and also ゴッホ,ヘリット・ファン・ダイク.
Yeah, however they also have a very intelligent and productive country with low crime rates. Do you think it's just a coincidence that one of the countries with the fewest outsiders has the things?
are you the same person asked us the 2 typical questions? Yes, we are racist, and I admit it. But we can't love refugees like Germans even if we would perish.
it is always difficult and burdensome
few years ago, a foreigner asked me if I know NHK or not
of course I know.
I always watch NHK news
but he was talking about anime!!(I don't watch anime at all )
俺は・・・まあ、侍と言えなくも・・・ない・・・(あんまり自信ない) But I think I have some Samurai spirit.
Feel free to ask. What kinds of industrial do you have in Netherlands?
>tfw gaijin think all Japanese loves anime and hentai...But I hardly watch anime.
We mostly export agricultural products. The land is extremely flat and has good access to water, so farming here is relatively efficient and profitable.
Other great sources of export are Royal Shell and Philips, in other words exploit of third world countries and electronics.
Yes, but our government is not providing well enough for refugees. They stay in bad conditions (in sport halls) for weeks and then move to other sport halls.
Refugees say it's better to live "normally" in war than to be treated like trash elsewhere.
This is the governments fault becuase there are a LOT more volunteers availible than needed, so it's the lack of facilities. Not the willingness of the dutch
tulips and flowers? I only know flowers are famous as an industrial in Netherlands. Others?
I have no idea about Netherlands, sorry.
> they should ask do you like anime at first.
That's true. and they should ask us at first, '' are you Hentai or not?''.
Hmm, I heard your government is open to immigrants and refugees. And I heard all immigrants can take dutch lessons and have to take exams for dutch language. and if he/she can't pass them, they have to leave or they have to take lessons again and again...is it true? and all refugees have to do the same thing?
>tulips and flowers?
Basically everything, food as well. We mostly export those to neighbouring countries though, the flowers go around the world.
Philips is relatively well known I think. Perhaps Asia has less of their products than Europe and the US.
I don't know if this is true. If you become a dutch citizen you have to integrate into society. The government doesn't like when people can't speak the language, it becomes harder to survive in society.
Also when you can't find a job the government won't give you free money unless you are studying the dutch language.
It remind me Dutch cheese is famous. but you are talking about agriculture,so...wheat? Usually foods from Euros to Japan are expensive.
Fair enough. But refugees will not be citizen in your country, right? I don't know they can work or not after they settled, tho.
Sadist, masochist,Scat... are special hentai.
I'm not. But I guess you are special hentai, because I checked your language. And it seems too difficult to learn...I was surprised.
samurai spirit には、武士の情けっていう優しさはあるけど、ロマンチックさは無いよ
the concept of romantic came from Western, and I don't think Samurai spirits have that kinds of thing.
I don't know, but you get many benefits.
There is a guy in my study who has free public transport like all the dutch kids and only has to pay 2000 euros for university. If you are not dutch you have to pay 7500, or if you want to be a doctor: 25000 per year
>about your language
I read wiki about Iceland language, and it says 300,000 people use it.
...it's less than population of Tokyo....
and the grammar and structure of vocabs are so hard.
F. please rewrite your English, I can't understand. you mean... does a magical girl want to make me a hentai? if it is, I don't know.
Imao, Kikkoman soy sauce.
>...it's less than population of Tokyo....
I really doubt there's any way to do that with my chosen field of study. Really the only aspect of Japanese that I'm relatively good at is grammar, so it only seems like I'm good at it. I have been studying it for a long time but I'm guilty of being really lazy about it. If it weren't for my laziness I'd probably have memorized a lot more kanji by now.
How can your country afford to do it, and everybody welcomed to refugees?
imao, but tokyo is comfy, at least for me.
magical girl...before that, I don't want be a girl.
is it an anime ?
そうするとmakesが収まらないよ does だし
not bad, but very typical soy sauce. very japanesey.
I see. to be a magical girl and to be hentai?
I can't find a job so i want to move to japan to become and english teacher and raise a family there.
I want to raise a family in japan as i prefer japanese girls because they are nicer than british girls.
Teaching english in japan has been my dream for several years.
I can't wait to move to japan
i'm not baiting
i don't understand, i don't speak japanese yet but i will learn and intergrate as best as i can. I can't find a job here so I want to live in japan for the rest of my life
It is medama-yaki.
I don't know whether or not it is Japan only tho.
Isn't that just ham and eggs with the chips replaced with salad?
I have a question to foreigners.
Is New Year's Day young people's day?
It is a traditional day in Japan.
There was the family system called '家制度' once.
New Year's Day is the core of that system in Japan tho.
The system was abolished now.
News years day for me consists of waking up with a couple of girls I brought home from a quality new years eve party I always attend ... I pull the best looking girls every time — girls just can't wait to drop to their knees and wrap their lips around my massive cock.
I wonder why the Village People wanted to go west when the cutest guys are actually in the east
Thank you for replying my question.
Not to put too fine a point on it,
I thought the Ie(家父長制) was a little similar to patriarchy of Islam.
That's why it was abolished.
It had often too strong power.
Though, people still keep to the custom to some extent and it is necessary partially.
>japanese girls will appreciate my intellect and niceness.
I was in Glorious Nippon last year, every girl I talked to instantly wanted to hop on my dick after they realised how smart and gentlemanly I am. They were literally in awe of my superior western intelligence.
Well shit, I was hoping that I wasn't alone.
why is everyone insulting me? are you telling me you don't think that japan is a superior country to the UK? my life will be so much better in japan, i'll actually fit in
You eating all your vegetables up, leafboy?
I would never date a Japanese girl or have sex with one
The only acceptable East Asian race are Koreans
My first girlfriend was from Northern Ireland and she was really hot and smart
You're just a loser that can't get a white gf because you watch Anime all day long and learn Japanese instead of licking British pussies
What if the Queen or Freddie Mercury were half Japanese? Disgusting!
Try sticking it on your ass. Take a picture too so we can tell you whether your technique is off.
Are you a small child? If so, you should not be opening medicine bottles.
In, of course. Autocorrect is the bane of my existance.
I'm not a small child, but I'm tiny, weak, and could be mistaken for one. If I was an actual small child then it would be bad that I'm on 4chan right now.
There must be something wrong with me that I'm actually considering doing this.
No one will ever know, you don't have to show your face. A ban is easily avoided with a simple phone/router restart.
It's not that hard, just get down on all four. Use one hand to push it up there and the other to take a picture. Or get a mirror.
I came here to discuss Japanese culture and language, not for these lewd shenanigans.
I'm looking for a bento box, it cant be pinku (that's Japanese for pink) or any girl color. It has to be of 2 or more kotoba (that's Japanese for 2 compartments) and has be be chibi (small) sized. And has to be really kawaii (cute). Also It has to be about 10-20 bux. And you have to post pics of it first (i want to make shure it's kawaii [cute]). And it would be nice if it came with matching chopstick holder (WITH chopsticks). OH! and it CANNOT have any cartoon pictures, or be made out of plastic. It has to be made of ceramic, or something like that. Also it would be nice if it was made in japan. and not in china or corea (Korea) or whatever. I have found a bento box similar to the one im describing in e-bay, but it was 1 kotoba, and i don't want my gohan (rice) to touch my other things (it can get wet and i would not like that, plus 2 compartments looks more kawaii)
No one said we couldn't make with the lewd shenanigans in here.
Sorry, I'm gonna have to chicken out, Anon. The bottle cap is too wide and it fucking hurts to try and get it up my ass, you'll have to find your weird anal object insertion porn elsewhere.
Please make do with this picture of the bottle instead.
Congratulations, anon. I hope you and her have a very happy relationship and will one day be blessed with many children.
Why would you shove the big end in first? It's perfect, the big end would act as a flared base, you shove the small end in. You disappoint me, anon.
But Anon, you originally suggested it as a way to open the bottle, which is something I expressed difficulty doing. How would I open it by inserting the bottom of the bottle first?
You squeeze it securely with your sphincter, and turn the cap with your hand.
Like I said. Sorry Anon, but you're going to have to find anal object insertion porn elsewhere. I've already given up the thought of actually doing it.
Sumimasen, but I believe it's time for you to make a new thread.
I'm so sorry for failing you, Anon. Please forgive me.
My friends are both boys and girls.
I'm not aware whether they are Koreans or not.
And native Koreans I involved are close to the feeling of Japanese and they are polite.
At least even if they hate Japanese, they never abuse someone except Japanese.
I want you to stop it, even as a joke.
Ok I will stop if you can get one of your female Korean friends to beat me up and then suck my bruises and kiss me
Maybe she can even make some kimbap and add some egg and we can eat some good korean food while listening to Depeche Mode's People are People so we can laugh at the racist American yellow fever english teachers in Korea because we are a great couple.
Thanks in advance
