However rural Spain has dramatically change in the last 40 years, on the one hand many villages have been abandoned for the cities and old people is everything that remains, but in those who are big enough to survive they live nowadays better than in the cities. They enjoy almost the same comforts as in the city, because they are well communicated with them, they run a calm and tranquil life in the nature, cultivating the soil, etc. I've heard from tons of people (including my parents) the desire to buy a house in some little spanish village after they retire.
What truly sucks in Spain are certain neighbourhoods of big cities such as mine, although comparing to other countries they are fine. They are just depressing, that's all.

Moderizined areas have easy access to school, plus the people are mostly educated.

Rural areas have no access or difficult access to education, they have to walk ridiculous lengths to study (Some still do it, and by Allah, they're admirable). In addition, the mentality of the traditional Moroccan thinks that School is "silly" and that the boy should learn a trade. The grill should stay at home.

This is only from what I've seen, I could be wrong.
